Shaw Carpet Featured in "Not So Big Showhouse"
at International Builders Show 2005
Dalton, GA - Shaw carpet was used in the Not So Big Showhouse designed by Sarah Susanka, bestselling author and architect, that debuted during the International Builders Show, January 13-16 in Orlando, Florida. Susanka created the Not So Big movement to build better, not just bigger, homes and has emerged as the leader of a movement that is influencing contemporary home design.
The Not So Big Showhouse hosted more than 6,000 visitors during the four days of the IBS, and 55 members of the press, including representatives from national shelter publications, toured the home or participated in the press event. Since its opening, approximately 500 consumers visit the house each weekend. The house was built by Bradford Building Corp., in North Lake Park at Lake Nona, a traditional neighborhood design, which includes parks, landscaping, and inviting front porch" architecture.
For Susanka, the Not So Big Showhouse serves as a hands-on display, showcasing the principles set forth in her bestselling books, The Not So Big House, Not So Big Solutions for Your Home, and most recently Home by Design: Transforming Your House into Home. According to Susanka, "builders and consumers are realizing that by reducing a home's footprint through better design, they can put the savings into details that are high-quality, energy-efficient and environmentally sound."
Approximately 200 square yards of Shaws Garden Magic were installed in upstairs areas of the home, including bedrooms.
