    LUNAR, MATRIX, AND BRUSHSTONE
Three collections manufactured with the environment in mind.

The "green" process:

Three collections?Lunar, Matrix, and Brushstone?are manufactured with conscientious environmental practices in mind and have up to 40% post-industrial recycled content. The 40% recycled contnt is achieved by using by-products of construction material and post-consumer waste, such as:

  • Fine residues derived from the processing of industrial sand
  • Fired scrap tile that is re-ground and incorporated into the new tile composition
  • Glazes and body waste from tile processing
  • Post-consumer glass scrap derived from disposal of household glass containers

Our mission:

Shaw partners with suppliers committed to sound ecological practices?an important step in helping balance ecosystem health by reducing the amount of natural resources used. It's often a challenge to find beautiful products that are sustainably produced, but Shaw strives to use companies following sustainable manufacturing procedures. We're committed to working with those companies that use methods and means that are quantifiably eco-sensitive.

About Bureau Veritas:

Bureau Veritas is a leading international group accredited in many areas to verify and give official acknowledgement that specified requirements have been met for certification. This certification acknowledges and validates Shaw's statements regarding our eco-friendly tile products. Three Shaw tile products have been certified by Bureau Veritas: Matrix, Brushstone, and Lunar.

The products:

Brushstone

Brushstone is a floor with high visual interest, suggesting the subtle glow of an aobe wall, smoothed and hand-rubbed with beeswax.

Designed in Italy and crafted in the USA, Brushstone is a collection of glazed porcelain tile distinguished by surface and texture variations in a palette that's richer and earthier, in keeping with today's more intense neutrals. The tile surface has a slight raised-relief feel and a soft, fine, misty look with no obvious grain. Spatter glazing gives the effect of flecks of light over soothing sweeps of color.

Lunar

Designed in Italy and made in the USA, Lunar is a line offered only by Shaw. It's a ceramic tile collection of dramatic design, inspired by images of the moon's surface. A multitude of glazing processes gives immense depth of texture and color, strong veining, and realistic effect. Randomness is ensured by extremely advanced technology and numerous manufacturing steps?for a look that's very natural.

Matrix

Matrix is a stunning porcelain tile unique to Shaw?the quintessential transitional product. It's organic, soft, and vintage; but at the same time, it's edgy and modern. It mixes two hot looks?stained concrete and textured fabric?in a design that juxtaposes the old and the new.

The surface resembles the texture of paint on canvas?like ink washed over finely woven linen. It's an artistic look, suggesting a subtle landscape with cloudlike shapes hovering over a misty, cross-hatched horizon. But it's also a look that's modern, grid-like, and ambiguous. Tiles have a new rectangular shape, a quality that gives Matrix an upper-end, contemporary edge.

COLOR CUES
More Than Color

Have a color in mind? Pair it with different types of construction to see the effect. The luster and softness of the fiber affects the look of the color. Get a luxurious, suede look with really soft fibers, or a more dimensional color and casual look with longer, textured yarns.
