Shaw Again Ranked High Among "Best Companies to Sell For"

Dalton, GA - For three out of the past four years, Shaw Industries has been ranked #2 in Selling Power magazines annual category of The 50 Best Companies to Sell For, beating out such notables as Microsoft, General Electric, and Xerox (Selling Power, November/December 2004). The magazines editors point out that The 50 Best Companies to Sell For represent a wide variety of industries, including software/systems, food/beverage, household, health, construction, information/communications, hospitality, transportation, and financial services. The editors write, Anyone entering the sales field should start by taking a good look at these top companies to sell for.

The magazine bases its rankings on compensation, training, and career mobility, and additional factors were part of each of these categories: Compensation included salary, incentive pay, pension, health, and company car; training comprised product knowledge and selling skills; and career mobility involved performance reviews and turnover/promotions. Shaw scored well in all three categories.

Preston Poag, manager of residential sales training, says, Were proud to again be recognized as a preferred company for sales personnel. This speaks well of the company as a whole and substantiates the positive effects of our training program. Poag added, Every January and June, we recruit from more than 30 colleges, interview 500 candidates, and select 30 of the top applicants, so our process is very competitive. We are pleased with the quality of our trainees, and our turnover rate of 7 to 8 percent suggests they are happy with Shaw.
