Shaw Showcased In Traditional Home Show Home

Dalton, GA - Shaw's eco-friendly Epic hardwood is featured in a Traditional Home Show Home located in Atlanta, Georgia. Traditional Home magazine has built a trio of homes that brings the ideas and inspiration from the magazine's  pages to life in a one-of-a-kind multiple show home showcase, open to the public for tours starting November 3. The magazine has partnered with builder Pam Sessions of the Atlanta-based Hedgewood Properties to construct the luxury town homes in Woodstock, Georgia.

"Traditional Home decided to bring this project to Atlanta because it is an area that is rich in culture and affluence," says Scott Sandlin, Shaw's vice president of hard surface development.  "Atlanta is the fastest growing city and metro area, and the magazine wanted to offer three creative show homes to inspire Atlanta homeowners and Traditional Home readers to create well-designed and luxurious homes to fit their specific needs and desires. It was a perfect opportunity to promote Epic hardwood to this forward-thinking audience."

Each of three town homes is designed to fit the profile of today's modern, affluent woman based on the magazine's 2006 research. The study, performed in conjunction with Nickels & Ashcraft, pinpointed distinct lifestyles of affluent women in America, which will be represented in the showcase. Shaw's Epic 5 inch hardwoods, in style Wellington and color Walnut, are featured in the town home representing a woman the magazine has named a "standout". The magazine defines this type of consumer as a single professional woman who looks to stand out, who is all about personal style and a high quality of life.  If a product is hot, the "standout" consumer has to have it.

"Shaw recommended Epic hardwood for the home because it is both beautiful and easy to work with. The product is versatile and simple to install," said Sandlin. "Most importantly, this type of product demonstrates to the consumer that she doesn't have to sacrifice style to have an environmentally-friendly floor. Epic is a perfect product for the "standout" consumer who demands cutting-edge style and quality."

Aside from beautiful styling and design, Shaw's Epic hardwood is eco-friendly. Epic uses up to two-thirds less harvested wood than alternative wood flooring options and comes from managed forests. Epic's dense inner layer, EnviroCore™, is composed of wood fiber that's created in the manufacture of other products. EnviroCore has distinct advantages over plywood core alternatives, such as unsurpassed structural integrity, impact resistance and moisture tolerance.

Epic can be installed above, on or below grade. Zero acclimation is required when site conditions are climate controlled prior to and during installation. Epic 3/4" hardwoods may be sanded and refinished up to two times.  In addition, Shaw's DuraShield™ finish ensures that Epic will perform for decades. Epic hardwoods are identified as part of the Shaw Green Edge, Shaw's group of initiatives that positively impact the company environmentally, economically and socially.

Shaw area rugs were also used in the town homes. To learn more about Shaw products, visit www.shawfloors.com. To learn more about the show homes, visit www.classictastemodernlife.com
