Shaw Floors Sponsors Second HGTV Green Home Giveaway Set for Spring 2009


Dalton, Ga. - December 23, 2008 - Shaw announced today that the company will again be the exclusive flooring provider and sponsor for the HGTV Green Home Giveaway set for spring 2009. HGTV is building its second annual "green" home in Tradition Florida, a dynamic master-planned community located in the heart of one of America's fastest growing regions — St. Lucie County — along Florida's Treasure Coast. One lucky winner will receive the fully-furnished, custom-built 2009 HGTV Green Home next spring.

The HGTV Green Home is a Spanish contemporary-styled, coastal Florida cottage under construction in Port St. Lucie, Florida. the home will feature both construction and design elements that are known to contribute to an energy efficient, cleaner and even healthier living environment. As last year, the HGTV Green Home will register to receive a significant LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. LEED for Homes, a voluntary rating system, is a nationwide residential certification project of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Viewers can enter to win the home and grand prize package during the HGTV Green Home Giveaway 2009℠, from April 17-June 5, 2009. Fans can get a virtual tour of the home on HGTV.com beginning in April, followed by a televised tour during the HGTV Green Home 2009 special on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Jack Thomasson, the HGTV Green Home House Planner who has overseen construction of 12 out the 13 HGTV Dream Homes says that today's construction materials and building practices provide many options for environmentally-friendly elements that can be incorporated into a home. "the HGTV Green Home is designed to demonstrate that you don't have to be extreme to be green," said Thomasson. "Through thoughtful design and selection of products, the HGTV Green Home uses the latest building technology and easily attainable materials to create a beautiful, comfortable home that provides affordable examples for an audience passionate about making eco-friendly lifestyle decisions."
