Shaw's Epic Hardwood Leads Industry with Service Commitment

Dalton, Ga. - June 8, 2010- Shaw Industries announces The Epic® Service Commitment, a promise that the company's Epic Hardwood products will be in stock and ship out of Dalton, Ga within 72 hours, or Shaw will credit $100 to the retailer. The commitment promotion runs through July 5, 2010.

In a market segment in which sales are projected to be significantly lower for the third straight year, Shaw's Epic is the fastest-growing product line in the wood flooring category. Epic hardwood?s success has resulted in increased capacity and additional personnel to service the demand.

"Epic hardwood is a clear winner—in terms of quality, service and end-user satisfaction," said Scott Sandlin, vice president of hard surface business development. "We have been overwhelmed by the response to this exceptional product, and our Epic Service Commitment demonstrates that we're ready to prove we can deliver." Sandlin believes that Shaw's unsurpassed service, financial strength and Epic hardwood's extensive and ever-growing product line will ensure retailer success in the hardwood business.

Epic hardwood is an environmentally responsible engineered hardwood. Epic hardwood's inner layer, EnviroCore®, is made from post-industrial recycled content, making it one of the most sustainable engineered hardwood flooring products on the market. Epic styles use approximately 50 percent less newly harvested wood than conventional 3/8"-inch engineered alternatives. The product's core creates a more dimensionally stable platform, and due to its increased humidity resistance, Epic is suitable for virtually any climate and can be installed at any grade level - even below - where solid hardwoods present problems.

All Epic products comply with the recently revised Lacey Act, the United States' national wildlife protection statute that has been amended to make it a criminal offense to import illegally logged timber products into the U.S. Additionally, the entire Epic collection is Cradle to Cradle™ Silver Certified by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) and meets the stringent chemical emissions standards of the GREENGUARD Children & School program.

In addition to its environmental benefits, Epic also offers distinct performance advantages. Shaw's innovative tongue-and-groove system facilitates installation and results in tighter seams. And with a shorter acclimation period, elimination of seam gaps and a highly durable finish that withstands even the toughest wear and tear, Epic is an excellent choice for premium construction installations.
