Shaw partners with suppliers committed to sound ecological practices—an important step in helping balance ecosystem health by reducing the amount of natural resources used. It's often a challenge to find beautiful products that are sustainably produced , but Shaw strives to use companies following sustainable manufacturing procedures. We're committed to working with those companies that use methods and means that are quantifiably eco-sensitive.

The "green" process

Four collections (Lunar, Metropolitan Slate, Petrified Hickory, and Brushstone) are manufactured with conscientious environmental practices in mind and contain up to 40% post-industrial recyled content. The 40% recycled content is achieved by using by-products of construction material and post-consumer waste such as:

Lunar 12 Tile Flooring | Color: Noce
  • Fine residues derived from the processing of industrial sand
  • Fired scrap tile that is re-ground and incorporated into the new tile composition
  • Glazes and body waste from tile processing
  • Post-consumer glass scrap derived from disposal of household glass containers

In addition to the collections containing 40% recycled content, we are also proud to offer a collection that contains 10% recycled content. Shaw's Ridgestone emulates quartzite with a raw and irregular appearance and high variation.

The Products

Petrified Hickory Tile Flooring | Color: FossilBrushstone is a floor with high visual interest, suggesting the subtle glow of an adobe wall, smoothed and hand-rubbed with beeswax.

Designed in Italy and crafted in the USA, Brushstone is a collection of glazed porcelain tile distinguished by surface and texture variations in a palette that's richer and earthier, in keeping with today's more intense neutrals. The tile surface has a slight raised-relief feel and a soft, fine, misty look with no obvious grain. Spatter glazing gives the effect of flecks of light over soothing sweeps of color.

Designed in Italy and made in the USA, Lunar is a line offered only by Shaw. It's a ceramic tile collection of dramatic design, inspired by images of the moon's surface. A multitude of glazing processes gives immense depth of texture and color, strong veining, and realistic effect. Randomness is ensured by extremely advanced technology and numerous manufacturing steps for a look that's very natural.

Metropolitan Slate provides the stunning look of slate without the maintenance and upkeep issues. Metropolitan Slate has explosive colors and ultra realism.

Petrified Hickory Collection – You've requested it, and here it is: a wood-look porcelain tile! And Petrified Hickory offers so much, you'll be amazed—Highly desirable wood plank look—glazed porcelain tiles are in a 6” x 24” plank format. Two of the three colors (600 and 700) are proven best sellers—they’re the two most popular colors in two of our most popular products (Pebble Hill hardwood and Heron Bay laminate.)
