3 weeks ago Short story: the product seems decent and well-priced, but the sales rep (Natalie) was unhelpful, bordering on rude, and left the job unfinished despite guarantees that Carpet Giant would "get the job done right" and would "take care of us". Carpet Giant does not care about your home, they just want to make a sale. I cannot recommend them and suggest you look elsewhere if you want a company that will do the job right. ------ ------ Long story: we called and tried to arrange an in-home consultation as the website says we can, but they said I'd have to come in (this was difficult for me, as I'm currently on chemotherapy). When we went in, Natalie was our sales rep, and though she seemed knowledgeable, she wasn't concerned about our questions. (For example, I asked "how will they transition from carpet to hardwood?" to which she responded "we'll take care of it, don't worry, it'll look good.") It soon became clear she didn't care at all about our home or helping us get the right carpet, she just wanted to close a deal. We were able to work with another rep for a few moments, Ben (who seemed much more considerate and helpful) but unfortunately Natalie returned and kept trying to push us to make a decision because she wanted us out of the store by 8pm. My wife and I felt fairly comfortable with our carpet choice, but since Natalie kept trying to rush our decision, I suggested to Natalie that we'd come back the next day because I didn't want anything to fall through the cracks. She said "don't worry, we'll get the job done right. We've got high ratings, we'll take care of you." By this time I had my doubts, so I said "Are you sure? You won't leave me hanging if something comes up?" And she assured me everything would be fine. When the installation van came, it was an unmarked, unprofessional van, the guys didn't speak intelligible English, and they arrived late without the necessary tools (they spent another hour going to the hardware store.) They tried to install the carpet in our great room at an odd angle, and we had to supervise them to make sure they did it straight. But worst of all, after installing the carpet in our master bedroom, the door won't close. They took the door off its hinges, as it can't be used now. We called Natalie and reminded her that she said she'd take care of us, but she said it was on us to find a carpenter to adjust the door. We now have to spend more time and money to get the job finished, and to be able to have privacy in our bedroom. This was a breach of trust, highly unprofessional, but sadly predictable given Natalie's attitude in the store. We are very unsatisfied with Carpet Giant, and we suggest you avoid them altogether.
2 weeks ago Business Manager I apologize that you did not have a good experience with Carpet Giant. It is clearly stated on our invoices that we do not cut doors. Also we do close at 8pm, and it was close to clsoing time and carpet needed to be purchased, tagged & cut to be ready to go out the next morning, so I am sorry if you and your wife felt rushed, that was not my sales persons intention. I have spoken with all employees involved with the sale and installation of your job to hopefully make sure there is better communication with the customer during all aspects of the sale in the future. I appreciated you bringing this to our attention. Thank you for your business.

She. also worked hard to accommodate our changing closing date. Finally, the pricing was very competitive. Don't let the relatively poor location and building fool you. They are great.

last month Carpet Giant did a fantastic job replacing the carpet in a rent house we own. The tenant moved out and the left the house in a complete shambles. I stopped at carpet giant and Francisco Alonso (flooring consultant) went above and beyond to make this a painless experience. He took samples out the the house sent me pictures and we were able to pick a carpet and have installed right away. Also updated the bathroom floor for labor cost only. Everything looks fantastic. Selling the house and getting out of the landlord business. Will get top $ with their help. Thank you so much. Would highly recommend. Ask for Francisco.

3 months ago I'm rating them so low because their communication with the customer is poor. We have been customers for over 20 years and never had a problem until last year after spent $3500 to have tile installed and it chipped and then this Month after Teresa the sales rep came to measure & give us an estimate for tile in the bathroom and to tile a small area where we no longer wanted carpet. Well I had to call Teresa after seven days for the estimate which I got her voicemail and never got a call back, called the store was instructed to send her a text that was the only way she called me back. She sent the estimate for my bathroom but not the small area she measured. Teresa said, that Gus would come out to take a look at the small area we wanted tiled on Monday, March 20, 2017 Between 10:00am & 12:00pm. (I'm confused) Carpet Giant says, "NO JOB IS TOO SMALL." Guess what? Gus was a no show and never came or called. I'm done taking my business elsewhere.

She told me that our Installation Manager Gus has made an appointment to come out and inspect your flooring. I apologize for the mishap and thank you for allowing us to rectify the problem. We strive to have the best possible customer service. Please do not hesitate to call Renee if all issues are not resolved.

We have been in business over 40 years and pride ourselves on having excellent customer service, most our salespeople have been with us 10-20 years. ans as for are pricing we buy flooring by the "truckload" so our pricing should be way lower than other stores. If you would like to talk to our sales manager, Renee Stephenson, she would be happy to help you and make sure that you get the best customer service & best pricing we have. If not thank you for giving us a chance, and when you shop somewhere else make sure you are comparing "apples to apples" and look at the total price fro comparison. 713-224-2213

8 months ago Recently purchased carpet from Carpet Giant and they have a great selection, good prices and a very knowledgeable sales team. My sales people were J. Kennedy and N. Reed great people to work with for sure. The installation team did a magnificent job, they arrived on time installed my carpet and did a excellent job of cleaning up and they vacuumed the entire house.

10 months ago Spoke to the representative let me know he was going to be there until 7 on Friday once I called around 5:30 they let me know that they close at 6 I asked if he could stay open for 5 minutes extra he was very rude and didn't seem to want to make a sell I will never recommend he could have been nicer as a customer service representative I went ahead and chose to go with a different company which I paid $100 extra to just so I don't have to deal with unprofessional service and I believe he should be talked to about the situation that happened today and the loss of business that he caused

11 months ago Carpet Giant installed new carpet throughout our home in 2014. The experience was a little frustrating but we got the carpet installed quickly and I moved on with my life. Two years later, we have several spots where the carpet is quite loose. I called Carpet Giant to see about re-stretching the carpet. I spoke to Manny and was told Carpet Giant offered the service for a minimum charge of $125. I went ahead and scheduled the work with Manny, who said the crew could come do the work today but he couldn't give me a specific time. I took the day off work and finally called Carpet Giant after waiting all day, only to find out that the work was never scheduled. The person on the phone insisted that she does all the scheduling and acted like it was somehow my fault that I didn't schedule the work with her. I do not recommend doing business with this company - find someone you can trust to show up.

11 months ago My condo closing was moved up, so I didn't have a lot of time for multiple estimates, so I chose Carpet Giant since they guaranteed the installation date. I chose a carpet that was "in stock" to avoid any problems. The estimate was much higher than expected, but I was told the spiral staircase caused the higher price. After the carpet installation was complete, for some reason the guy remaining was the one who spoke almost no English and was pressuring me to sign off even before I looked at the work. I quickly looked, signed off, and tipped because they did work hard all day. Once I looked more closely I realized they installed the WRONG color carpet. I tried to call the company, but they were already closed. I called the next day to speak with the manager, and left a message. The manager didn't even bother to call me back. The guy who came into my home for the estimate contacted me, I was told that I could either have a full re-install once the color I ordered came in or get a discount. I replied that I used them and ordered a color in stock so it would be installed prior to my move (without furniture and pet present). What is a fair discount? I said 50% off materials. The reply was $300 off instead or do a full re-install. Taking a day off of work is very expensive for me, so I chose the discount even though I didn't think it was enough of a discount. Now only weeks later there are gaps forming in the staircase that I can fit a finger in...and in some spots a thumb. I wasn't going to bother complaining on Yelp until I realized the job wasn't good on the stairs, which was the expensive part, plus there is a large lump I step on daily in my bedroom...not sure what that is. I wonder if they chose to install the wrong color because they realized they didn't have my choice in stock and thought I wouldn't notice, or if they are simply not competent?

12 months ago We went in today because we are remodeling our house and needed flooring. The time we were there no one acknowledged us there. There was one customer there besides us and about 3 employees just there. What a shame! We went elsewhere were we did get acknowledged and had great customer service.

last year We've bought from them twice. About two years apart. They seem like straight shooter and have good prices. They also have "remnants" you can buy which are selections of left over new carpet from large install jobs. The prices are cheaper, we've made one remnant purchase and one new purchase. Didn't ever feel like I was dealing with a used car sales man, and the installers do a good job for the most. Their fast and clean up after. But they did put a dent in my brand new baseboards. We expected some damage so I wasn't upset.

last year This is the first time using Carpet Giant. Replacing carpet throughout my home and had a couple of days off of work. Ordered the carpet at the Gulf Freeway, and it was delivered and installed the next day. The installation crew arrived at about 11 am and were gone by 3 and left the house as they found it. No eye rolling when asked to move furniture. All in all a very pleasant experience.

last year Terrible experience!!! WARNING! OMG these people are horrible. First wanted the owners daughter to take the measurements and her responds was she was to busy because she was going to the rodeo to help me. She sent over a older man who was so rude and wouldn't answer my questions. Told me I was bothering him and he didn't want me to watch what he was doing. I had to watch him for two reasons not my house he was measuring since we were looking to purchase this house and second just felt he was hiding something. Ending up not buying the house because of this experience. I told him he could leave and to get out. I threw him out and he started to argue with me. I felt scared and uncomfortable for the way he treated me. Lady's WARNING! he made me feel scared that I lock the door after he left and told my husband I had to tell him to leave. Other reasons also but was told by this man to remove my post because he knew I was telling the truth. I ask him to not to contact me and now I'm asking him in this review don't ever text me again!

last year Pretty good prices and quick and painless installation. When you go in to the store, they will try and direct you to their "remnants" carpets, which are cheaper but also will be a small amount of a given carpet so you probably would have to mix and match remnants in order to get your whole house done. It's surely done to help their inventory control but I would make a point to look at what you can order. Otherwise they're not too pushy to make a sale and had great customer service.

last year HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Richard was my contact and he was very unprofessional. Even called me intoxicated at one point to tell me I was a "difficult woman" Overcharged for the job and did not complete wood stairs to code. Should of taken them to small claims court.

last year We has such a positive experience here! We needed to recarpet one bedroom and a hallway. We went to lowes first and got the total run around from their sales team. Carpet giant was our next step and they did not disappoint us. Manny at the store helped us. It was a quick and painless experience. He quoted us nearly $100 less than lowes. I loved that this business was not about tacking on every extra dollar that they could have. Their installation guy named Raul came out and worked so hard to do the install all by himself. It looks great!! We will definitely come back here for all of our future carpet and flooring needs!!!

last year Carpet giant contracts out installers. From carpet to floor install the workers will make lude comments and eat your food while you step away. Giovani who wears the carpet giant logo polo he is very untrustworthy. I have been calling him leaving him messages to complete our 14k job he didn't finish. We gave up. I will post pics so you could see job he did. Flooring companies are only concerned with sale not who comes to your house. They could care less.

2 years ago After the experience I had with Carpet Giant for hardwood floors I regret giving them my business. Took too long to install them, damaged the paint and the board during installation ( now I have to paint the house because of their negligence) and only after few days the job was finished the trims installed at the stairs broke in 2 points. Called and emailed to claim the warranty but Carpet Giant doesn't seem to honor their warranty as nobody gets back to me.... Is more than 2 weeks since we reported the issue... I DON'T recommend them and will never use them again

2 years ago Knowing what I know now, I would NOT use them for anything other than carpet.Ugh- I wish I would have read more of the reviews BEFORE we decided to purchase flooring with Carpet Giant. We went with luxury vinyl (wood-look) planks because it's waterproof and we have pets and children and we are also getting a pool and we like the look of wood floors but we didn't want to worry about water damage to real wood or laminate. My initial experience was great. I thought the sales people were pretty knowledgeable about the product, and even though our floors were on backorder for 3 weeks the sales rep seemed to be helpful in keeping us informed about the progress of the order. BUT that's where the helpfulness ended. Two days before our floors were scheduled to be installed, I called to discuss the final details of the job. I was told that he wasn't in the store and no one else seemed to want to help because I already had a rep. I left a message for him to call me back, but he didn't. I called again the next day to discuss things, and I was told that he was out taking measurements and wasn't in the store. I just asked them to have him return my call. He didn't. The work crew (2 guys) showed up that same day and began working - and I never received a call from Carpet Giant. The workers were quick and efficient removing the carpet and getting started with installing the floors. However, I had been told that they would probably have to use some kind of leveling compound once the carpets were removed to level everything out. Otherwise the planks would feel "sponge-y" over uneven surface. The workers DID NOT level the concrete. I asked them about it, but they said it was fine and there was no need, that the concrete was level and even enough. They finished the formal living room and dining room the first day. However, when they left and we were able to walk on it, it was "sponge-y" feeling in several places!!!! And they had done a terrible job on the trim. The "quarter" round they used was huge! It doesn't look like trim- it looks like cover up! Not to mention, they stained it to match the floors (which I realize is standard) but I had told the sales rep that I wanted it white to match the baseboards - one of the reasons I wanted to speak with him the day before they started the install so that I could remind him and he would have known that if he had called me back! Not only were the trim pieces huge (which I've now read about in another person's review) but they were so sloppy! The angles were off and didn't fit together well and they didn't bother trying to make it look nicer with maybe some caulk or filler. In one corner, the trim doesn't even cover the area where the floor ends and I can see straight down to the under surface. And another frustrating disappointment was that they literally just glued down the WOODEN "trim" pieces they used to transition between the vinyl planks and the existing ceramic tiles. I thought those were supposed to be laminate of some sort and I thought they'd be attached with glue AND nails. And the glue squished out the edges and they left it and it DOES NOT dry clear. The two workers arrived the next day to do the same job in the family room, but this time I told them that they needed to use the leveling compound and I pointed out the squishy areas from their work the day before. So this time they did use some stuff to even out the surface. However, after they finished and left and I walked on the floors, there are still squishy places in that area as well, though not as many as in the first room. And once again, the trim is awful! It's huge and none of the corners match up. The most disappointing thing is that I still haven't received a call back from the sales rep and NO ONE from Carpet Giant followed up at all to see if I was satisfied or to even ask if the job had been completed. UPDATE: The company called me and scheduled to do some repairs. the workers came out and replaced a few of the planks. they scraped off the messy glue as best they could. of course, when I'm sweeping or mopping or sitting on the floor I can still see the yellow glue. and some of the trim pieces have popped off and I've had to glue them back down myself. I appreciate the fact that they were willing to do the repairs (but it was only after I had posted this review.)

2 years ago We had our stairs, hallway and 2 guest bedrooms carpeted and 1 guest bathroom w/laundry closet tiled. Please note my grandfather laid carpet and tile his entire life, so I have a soft spot for carpenters. But the tile guy really left a bad impression. Sales Rep: 5 stars - she was awesome, she called the day before our appointment to ask our budget and colors that we were considering for flooring. She showed up with neutral samples that were perfect for what we wanted. She did quick measurements, the price was right in line for what we budgeted, we selected our carpets and tile and she set up our install dates (tile on one day, carpet the day after). Tile layer: 2 stars - By 10 a.m. on Day 1 (tile install) no one had called or showed up. I called Carpet Giant and they tracked him down and told me he had a flat tire, was fixing it and would be on his way. At 12 p.m. he still hadn't shown up, so I called again. They said he would be calling me soon. He finally showed up at 12:45 p.m. with NO explanation, NO apology, nothing. He got to work and was rather slow. He kept answering his phone and talking to people that sounded personal and it took him nearly 4 hours to cut and install the cement board to lay the tile in our small guest bathroom. At one point, I asked him how long he'd been laying tile just because he was moving so much slower than what I was used to and he said he'd been doing since he was 18 and he was now 24. He finished tiling at 8 p.m. and said he'd back in the morning to grout it, left grout color options and said to text him which ones we wanted. The problem here is that he left the washer and dryer in our hallway - the same hallway that the carpet installers needed to work on AND effectively blocking us from removing the furniture in a bedroom that was also blocked by the washer dryer. We thought "Oh, he'll be by first thing in the morning, and we can move everything with his help".We text him our grout color and he never responded. At 8:45 a.m. on Day 2, the carpet layers call to say they are on their way. I say ok, but let them know about the furniture. They show up, see the issue and tell us to call Carpet Giant immediately. We do. Cynthia, the scheduler was great and said she'd track him down. She then called our carpet guys to confirm what was happening. They decided to move the washer/dryer back into the ungrouted area and tell the tile guy to come at another time. Carpet layers: 5 stars - They were awesome because they managed to install our carpet and moved all of our furniture. I felt really bad that they had to move as much as they did BECAUSE the tile guy put us all in a bad spot. The tile guy showed up after the carpet install and quickly laid the grout, again no apology, just in and out and done. He did great work, but I feel like he was just young and didn't take the job seriously, perhaps because it was such a small tile job. Overall, I WOULD totally use Carpet Giant again the future, but I wouldn't recommend the individual that they gave us for tile. *Update: Just received a call from their installation manager to discuss the situation because they saw our review on here. We discussed the situation and based on that conversation I'm bumping them up another star because they acknowledged they dropped the ball on this and this communication was greatly appreciated.

2 years ago This is our second time to buy from carpet giant and once again, we are very pleased. We just bought a new house and needed all the carpet replaced in 4 bedrooms and a huge game room. When I first called them, I spoke to Manny and told him what I needed and exactly I was looking for. They no longer sold the carpet I bought for our old house but he actually texted me pictures while I was at work of similar carpets which was awesome! So, when my husband and I did go to look at the ones he selected, he did great in knowing what we wanted because it was a quick decision and we were in and out of there fast! The installer was Manuel and he was a sweet man and knows what he's doing. His crew was also very friendly and quick. We will not go anywhere else. Thank you! Ask for Manny! He will treat you right. ; )

2 years ago I am moving out of my house and needed some new carpet put in for renters. Ray, one of the guys who seems to run things around there, gave me a quick run down on the carpets they had and effectively showed me the right price ranges for what I was looking for without trying to sell me higher end fluff I did not need. First visit was so effective I was in and out in 20 minutes completely satisfied. I price compared these guys to 3 other establishments and decided to go with these guys. I called Ray back and told him I accepted his quote (which was more than reasonable for the 1200 sqft i was carpeting) and we setup an install date which was literally 2 days after the call. Carpet was installed and finished in less than 1 day and everything was quality. They two guys who did the job even politely put up with my nit pickyness to patch up one or two things I wanted done and stayed extra late to take care of it. Will definitely be returning as a customer if the service and quality they showed is maintained. Thanks.

2 years ago I had a great experience with Carpet Giant. They were incredibly helpful and listened to exactly what I needed. The price was less than quoted by Home Depot for a lower quality carpet and the installation was done promptly and professionally. I couldn't have asked for anything more!

3 years ago I have been using Carpet Giant for about 11 years now. First for condo then for my home each time has been a professional and pleasant experience. I do not call anyone else for my carpet needs they take care of me. Last time I ordered I did not even go into the store and went on faith and a picture on line, it is the best carpet choice ever. Installers are professional and fast. Thank you Carpet Giant for giving me a consistent reliable service and product.

Our experience with them from start to finish was pleasant, easy, and wonderful. They were fast and efficient and the carpet is gorgeous. We are very happy with the results.

3 years ago I called Manny to make an appointment and he told me to send him a text message with my address and that he will call me back. I sent him a message with my address and my time preference for the appointment. He did not call me back. I sent him another text the next day. He responded "Tomorrow at 1:00" . I left my work the next day to drive home at 1:00. He did not show up and did not answer my call. It seems that Manny is very busy or he was not interested. I am busy too and I just wasted my time with this company.

3 years ago I went to several carpet stores and by far Carpet Giant offered the best price. The sales rep, Ralph, was very knowledgable and helped me make an informed choice. There were a few snafus with installation but I judge a place by how it deals with mistakes, and that is why I gave it 4 stars. First, the manufacturer was delayed in getting the carpet (backordered) to the store in time for my anticipated installation. But Ralph got on the phone and worked to find the same amount of carpet (to cover two stories!) from another source. The delay (which could have been several days), was only one day. Then the installers layed the carpet but did not fix the squeaks in the floor. After I spoke to Ralph and the Install Manager, that morning the crew came back in and carefully pulled up the layed carpet (moved the furniture AGAIN) and fixed all the loose floorboards. Carpet Giant worked quickly to resolve the two problems that came up. The carpet is gorgeous and I feel I got it at a very good price. One tip: Have it written on the installation instructions to fix the floorboards and then mark the squeaks on your old carpet with masking tape!

3 years ago Ray provided amazing customer service! My experience from start to finish was... WOW. This was my first time purchasing carpet. First I went to Home Depot and I thought their quote seemed high and they were difficult to schedule. After reading Yelp reviews on Carpet Giant, I figured I'd see what they were about... I am so glad I did! My quote was 40% less than HD and they were available ANYTIME. Ray was professional and easy to work with. He really helped me out by installing the carpet at a time when I wasn't even in the country. I came home to an amazing and high quality job. Thank you so much!

3 years ago The location is kinda of hard to get to and the external building is something to be desired but Carpet Giants on-hand selection and service is stupendous. Manny greeted me before I was able to advance 3 steps into the building. His knowledge and experience was instantaneously noticiable. He immediately recognized the value of our old carpet and was able to find a similar product. We shopped several large carpet retailers and Carpet Giant had the best prices -- and, offered next day installation. But, more surprising, I received a call today (a month later) from Carpet Giant asking if we had any issues, questions or concerns. This was the icing on the cake. Thank you Carpet Giant (managment and staff) for your outstanding customer service

I went to home depot first and they throw out so many options, this goes with this, that goes with that etc. etc. Next thing you know the price is not what you expected. Here I met Dennis who I could tell knew his stuff. Their prices include the carpet, padding labor etc. They explained what goes into the process when you replace old carpet and sell your house and what inspectors look for. We got a great deal and even got offered next day installation. These guys are pro's.

2 years ago It's fixed as now it's been almost 1 year.. Still never got an apology or anything on the specifics of our issue. We are continuing to just spread it by word of month! We also own a rental property that will need flooring and you can be sure you lost a repeat customer

3 years ago I apologize in advance for this long review. If you are ever in the market for new carpet, I can promise that there is no better service available than that of Carpet Giant off I-45 near downtown. I can not think of a time that I have experienced better customer service. We purchased carpet from them last August because they had a good selection and by far the best pricing. (They do not have the fanciest showroom or location, but that's not what mattered to me.) We bought a mid-grade carpet from a large national manufacturer that is sold by all of the major carpet places. Unfortunately the carpet started to wear very quickly, and we called Carpet Giant. They came out to inspect the carpet and agreed that it was wearing much quicker than it should and started a claim for us with the manufacturer to get it replaced. The manufacturer sent out an "independent" carpet inspector, who told me that carpet can start to look like this (similar to other carpet I've had in the past looked at five years) after one month and that I should have it professionally cleaned. I thought that was ridiculous. The carpet wasn't dirty it was worn, and Carpet Giant agreed with me. Even though the claim was denied, they fought it for 5 months! The owner of Carpet Giant even called the manufacturer to complain personally. They brought the manufacturer's rep to my house to see the carpet too. I couldn't believe it. I don't know anyone personally at Carpet Giant, so this is just how they treat a regular customer. Well, they won, and the manufacturer is going to reimburse Carpet Giant for the carpet. We can select any new carpet that they carry that is the same price, or we can cover the difference between the original and a more expensive type to replace the worn carpet. Now Carpet Giant is fighting to get the installation covered by the manufacturer, but they promised that even if the manufacturer won't cover it, I won't be charged, that they will cover the cost. Needless to say, they have a carpet customer for life, and I hope that I'm able to get them some additional business. We are so impressed by them!!!

3 years ago I purchased expensive carpet from this place and had it installed. The carpet was laid beautifully; however, after many months, what a crappy job I got! When the carpet settled and was walked upon, it was a mess. I had to pay another company to come in and re-stretch the carpet because I had tons of rolls and folds. I will never use this place again!

4 years ago We have had an awful experience with Carpet Giant. From the very beginning we had problems, disappointments, the runaround, and lack of integrity. Make sure you have done your research and know your product before you order and have this company install carpet in your home!

4 years ago Carpet Giant came out and installed carpet in my house. They did the most wonderful job. They moved everything cleaned up any mess and now I love the carpet. I could not be happier. I would highly recommend them. I have use several other companies and I rate them as A++++

4 years ago Had a wonderful experience at the Carpet Giant. Robert helped me with selection of the carpet and pricing in a very professional manner and laid out the options in such a way that made it easy for me to comfortably make a decision. This is an old establishment that I feel puts the customer first and I recommend to include them on your list of places to visit when shopping around for carpet and installation. I saw also that they carry hardwood, laminate, title and vinyl should you be in the market for that. Overall a very good place with long standing experience in the business. Highly recommended!

4 years ago The price was right and the sales guy (Mark) wasn't too pushy at our in-home visit. I called to arrange the visit and they were able to schedule it for the very next day at 5:30 pm which worked great with my schedule. I was quoted more than double for the same job from Jack's Carpet, so I was honestly stunned and couldn't sign the invoice fast enough when I heard the price. I kept asking my husband after the fact "Did we just get hustled?" but I don't think we did. It wasn't as simple as it first appeared, but it all worked out. We had 3 bedrooms carpeted (+closets) and hardwood laminate was put in a hallway (+closet) and stairs. Just as advertised, we bought it Friday night, and they were able to install the carpet the very next morning. Seriously, less than 24 hours later, our three rooms had brand new carpet. The carpet team (3 guys) was super efficient, friendly, respectful and fast. They helped us more than necessary with moving our furniture and even shuffled furniture from room to room since they were carpeting all three rooms. They set down a carpet piece at our front door and always wiped their shoes before entering and even set a carpet piece underneath their tool box and where they were laying tools. 5 stars for the carpet installation. The laminate was a bigger more difficult job, and it was somewhat of a nightmare. It was originally quoted that it would take 1 day to complete -- it turned in to 4.There were only 2 guys on the crew this time, and they were scheduled to start Saturday between 9-11. They were not the fastest workers, nor the cleanest. While they would go to lunch (usually for 2 hours) or leave for the day, they would leave exposed tack strips, nails and small debris all over our stairway and hall. I wouldn't really care except that we have a puppy and 2 cats who could puncture a paw or get sick from eating these things. Overall, they were VERY messy while working. They didn't clean up at the end of their days even though they were tracking sawdust and dirt all through our home. I don't expect a thorough cleaning, but I did expect them to quickly take a broom or a shop vac to the areas they had dirtied. On the 3rd day, they were almost finished with the stairs and they were putting moulding on the outside edges of the stairs. I told them I did not like the way that looked and I had to be the one to suggest that they put caulk or putty instead of a large piece of quarter round moulding. Fortunately, both the installer and my sales guy was very insistent that they would continue working until I was satisfied with the job. The job took all of 4 days which was very frustrating, but I am happy with it. After 2 weeks of us walking on it, there are 2 areas where the floor or trim needs to be re-secured but I feel like that is somewhat typical as things settle with normal use and why Carpet Giant has a 1 year installation warranty. As nice as everyone was, one installer was a bit too condescending with me on a few occasions. I had already let them work Saturday and Sunday when I was told it would only take one day. So now it's a Sunday and he tells me they need to come back again because they wouldn't finish today. I said that I was off work Friday if they were available. He says "Well if you can't take off tomorrow, I guess that'll work." NO SIR. Do not imply that I should take off time from my job when I just gave you a viable option on a weekday, no less. Then I was informed that they were bonded and insured (as if that makes a difference) and a neighbor could let them in. Seriously? No. You are not working in my home without me or my husband here. Like I said, they were nice guys, but no way. On that Friday they returned, I was super sick with a sinus infection and I mentioned in my nasally sick voice my concerns about the moulding on the stairs. The next day, when they arrived to work again I probably looked red nosed and watery eyed, and the guy says to me "You haven't been crying about the stairs again have you?" And my eyes immediately narrowed in hostility as I snapped "I was not crying. I am sick. But I am still upset about the stairs and expect it to be fixed today." All toughness drained from me as I proceed to hack up my lungs and blow my nose. Nonetheless, I do not appreciate being patronized. Overall, I would give the laminate installation process 1 star. So 5 stars for carpet and 1 star for laminate averages to 3 stars. I am happy with the end results and I am very happy with the quality of the laminate and the carpet and think my house looks great now. I would recommend Carpet Giant but I would encourage anyone to ask more questions regarding the process and timeline of wood laminate installation.

7 years ago I often wonder how places keep customers coming back when they treat people like I was treated. I got so fed up waiting to talk to someone who could help with a special project, that I left and was pulling out of the parking lot when they called me to see where I had gone. I then got a chat with a guy who took five phone calls in five minutes, and kept forgetting what I wanted. I guess the commission on a $5k job is not enough to hold their interest, so I just quietly left while he was taking yet another call.

8 years ago Oh Carpet Giant... you've been a Houston institution for over 30 years! It always amazes me how this place is small but gets so many customers in and out the door. Their sales consultants are very knowledgeable of all flooring types and are very ready to assist you. The place itself may not be appealing but it helps when you want to get a good and inexpensive deal! They're open 7 days a week and so installations everyday except for Sundays. They also offer a shop at home service if you can't make it out to the store. And as always, they guarantee if you buy it today, they'll install it tomorrow! Thanks Carpet Giant!

11 years ago Bad experience with Carpet Giant I purchased a commercial grade vinyl composition tile floor and set up installation after Carpet Giants bid was less than other places. Once they came to install I was told the plywood subfloor was unsuitable and it would be $2,400 more than the bid. Despite paying for a new subfloor, the installation was poor. Numerous phone calls were made as well as having to go down there is person and to raise cane. Each time I was lied to and promised someone would be out. Finally after several weeks of the run-around someone came and looked at it, but even after a month I still cannot get them to come out and correct the problem, even after admitting the installation was not done properly.
