Was recommend by my spouse to shop this store for flooring when all other stores wasn't cutting it for our projects. As soon as I arrived, they were warm an welcoming. They are very knowledgable and the selection is unbelievable . I just recently went back as I told them after my first order. AGAIN they were phenomenal and help with my very demanding taste. Anyone whose shopping for flooring and want the highest quality of service and products should not hesitate.

Got referred here to a guy name John. We played phone tag for a week, then got something setup for someone to come look if we could refinish the floors in a property my husband and I recently purchased. Day-of, a guy named Curt shows up. All is well and good, no problem John cant make it. After meeting, and then additionally talking on the phone, they quoted me around $2500 for refinishing the floors not including stain. Here is where I start lacking confidence.. 1. "its going to take a few days for me to work up that quote in writing". 2. Quote comes via email days later.. its the wrong quote, not mine. Oops? 3. I respond with simple questions like can you break down this quote per square foot, what are the materials costs, do your workers carry insurance, what do you do to prevent dust etc. I also asked about their experience in mixing stains (of which they dont have, whaat? you are flooring people). Wow, unimpressive. I guess the questions must have been too difficult for them because they have immediately referred me to another guy to do the work. They gave me his phone number.. and they obviously dont know this guys name. Said his name was Tommy, but actual name is Larry. Moreover, they didnt share any of the questions, details, measurements etc that I had asked with this guy and said this guy will have to come out and do his own measurements etc. What a waste of my frigging time! Dont bother with them. All in all, seems to me these guys are a bunch of nincompoops. Not to mention, my father-in-law used these people for his floors, of which, they screwed up in places in his brand new home. I guess its better this way anywho. And I honestly am not going to take their recommendation because I lack confidence in their judgement of character. Good thing my realtor had a much more professional option which is a breath of fresh air, and mixing stains is common.. go figure!
Had them do some work back in 2012. I paid them about $1,500 more than I could have if I used a sub and purchased the flooring myself. They told me they handle all warranty claims and use their people to install flooring and then sent a sub. Well, I called them today because we seem to have an issue with the flooring and I can't find my receipt and guess what, they have thrown their 2012 records away, so I'm SOL. With computers and data storage so cheap, ??? I should have saved the money and used the sub and Discount House.
I use Barefoot for all my flooring needs, as a Property Manager and General contractor I count on good people when in need, they are honest, fast and competitive.
Wait a minute - you were thinking of doing this floor thing for your house a different way - are you nuts? John and the guys at Barefoot are super knowledgeable, have an amazing showroom with wonderful products, great prices and guess what - they're really nice. Coming from New York and building down here, that was an extra plus for us. Dane and Ann
Don't even bother calling if you have repair work to be done. They are only interested in new installs. I have heard the work was sub par, but you get what you pay for, so little repair work would be ideal. They said they might call me in a month if they have time. Well I might just hire a company more reliable.
A real shame that you saw fit to attempt to disparage our good name by this backhanded comment. Certainly you have NOT heard that our work was "sub par" or you certainly wouldn't have contacted us in the first place! Who would!? This is solely a vindictive attempt to harm our name because we do not offer the service you were seeking. As we have well over 100 years of combined flooring experience, we encourage others to read the reviews from customers that actually had a flooring experience with us, or better yet, find out for yourself!

Highly recommend company, which was recommended to me. Beautiful showroom, competitive prices. As soon as we picked out samples, John was in our home the next day and went over every detail and we were very confident that we picked the right place for an important investment in our home. I am happy to pass along the recommendation.

I don't even want to give this place 1 star. My boyfriend and I had Lee from Barefoot Flooring come out to our house to do an estimate for our floors in November. We were unable to afford their installation cost (about $6k) so we held on to the measurements and found a more affordable installer to do the work. We did 95% of the business through John, who was the MOST pleasant person at this establishment. Unfortunately he had a medical emergency and couldn't finalize the order and paperwork with us so we had to deal with Lee and his wife (I'm assuming). We were told by John that if we preferred to have the shipment sent to our house that it was possible- that we just needed to keep it on the pallets and buy a tarp and something to strap it down with until the job had begun (we had an entire conversation about it). The tile, as you can guess, was not shipped to our house. Our installer had to come pick it up and make 4 trips in two days to transfer that amount of weight. Lee was handling the forklift out of their storage and into our trailer both days and seemed "inconvenienced" when asked if we could split up the trips into two days. Quite unprofessional seeing as we just dropped $8200 in tile with their business. My boyfriend works overseas in Iraq and qualified for tax-free prices on our quote written up by John. Our installer informed me that we needed more tile to finish the job and the measurements were not accurate for the amount of flooring we needed. We only needed 50 more sqft, which would have been about $190 for the extra material. Even though it shows on our paperwork from the previous transaction that the material was bought tax-free, they would not grant us the same deal that John did. Plus they tacked on a $80 shipping fee for 21 tiles. They would not budge from where they stood and verbally insulted myself and my installer over the phone saying that we took our own measurements and they are not responsible for the miscalculation. This was not true, we used the same numbers they gave us when they came to do the quote- but because we didn't use them to install because of their disgustingly steep pricing, they chose to deny the responsibility. It's amazing how the customer service changed so dramatically once they already had our money. The woman we spoke to at barefoot said "if you don't like the way we do business here, then go somewhere else," so we did. The crazy part of this whole story is after we went to another business for the remaining tile, even though we didn't use their business from the start, they offered us the tile we needed to finish the job for $100 less than Barefoot flooring. This was such a terrible experience and we will make sure all of Wilmington knows of this incident.

We greatly appreciate your business and are very sorry to hear of your level of dissatisfaction. However there are a few points in your review that I would care to discuss so as to clear up some obvious misunderstandings. Delivery of materials is certainly available, but not included in the price of the material. Professional installers are accustomed to picking up their materials at either a supply house or retail establishment. We see them on a very regular basis. I apologize if it seemed as though anyone felt inconvenienced to assist in loading of the tile, however Lee has been a trooper doing all he can despite a serious medical condition. I am sorry if this was somehow misconstrued as unprofessional. I can assure nothing like that was intended. The most glaring misunderstanding is the “tax-free” purchase. In our country, there is very little which is tax-free and tile is not one of them. I explained to you that “I” and “I” alone, offer to not CHARGE tax to active duty military, police, and teachers as a small token of gratitude for their service. I do this as I have family that is also in each of these roles and I don’t believe enough is done for them. Barefoot Flooring is still responsible for this tax, which was well over $500, and was paid, in conjunction with your purchase. What made this rather difficult however was your unexpected desire to use our 0% interest financing for 12 months, when you had just called the store prior to placing your order to insure that we would accept a check from your boyfriend who was overseas. We were happy to oblige, but this carries a significant cost to us which we typically absorb, but with 7% tax already being paid by the company (and not collected) it made for a rather difficult position for us to be in. But we did the right thing and honored both of these arrangements. I was never made aware that anyone from our store had been to your home, and I had been dealing with you since May, when I ordered some courtesy samples for you. I certainly would’ve done my due diligence and pulled your file to insure that the quantity being ordered was A) consistent with what our file showed and B) included a modest waste factor for cuts. Beyond this, it is ultimately the installers’ responsibility to provide the quantity of materials needed. If we had been installing this, we would not look to you for one penny for additional materials (or labor). As your installer was yelling at my wife over the phone, I heard her myself state that no matter where you order tile, there will be a freight charge. No one brings us our materials free of charge nor anyone else. If there is an opportunity to wait until a truck is coming this way already, no freight is charged to our customers. Never has anyone here uttered the words to ” go somewhere else”. The labor costs you referred to being quoted come out to approximately $3.60/sf based on the 1663 sf of tile purchased, including setting materials. This is well below the industry standard in this market and frankly much less than we or anyone else (IN the profession) would charge. (You had explained to me that you were going to have a friend do the installation that was having a hard time making ends meet ) As thousands of customers of ours over that past 14 years can attest, we are very professional in our dealings and always strive for an overwhelmingly positive flooring experience. We are certain you will be happy with your floor when finished, the porcelains you chose are some of my favorites.

Great experience from the moment I walked into their beautiful showroom! This is a friendly, knowledgeable professional showroom and business and they offer a tremendous variety of products from quality manufacturers. We purchased Mohawk carpeting and installation with selection assistance from John the manager. He seemed to know just the right questions to ask while assisting us with our selection. The installation crew was courteous and respectful to us and our home. The only trace that they were in our home was from the impeccable quality installation of the new carpeting. I highly recommend Barefoot Flooring!! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE HOME CENTERS FOR YOUR FLOORING! YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THIS KIND OF QUALITY AND SERVICE!!!

What a wonderful experience it has been working with Barefoot Flooring. We replaced three rooms of carpet with beautiful hardwood and installed heated flooring and porcelain tile in master bathroom. Also purchased carpet and had it bound to use as area rug in bedroom on top of new hardwood flooring. From the first visit through the purchase and the installation everyone we dealt with, which included store personnel and flooring/tile installers, was professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with. Every deadline was met with quality products and quality workmanship!! Thank you John for making this a wonderful experience. Bob and Ann Ward-Burns

Barefoot Flooring helped me with a renovation of close to 2500 sq feet of flooring. I cannot say enough nice things about this business. Their prices beat big box store estimates, and their products are much more high end. I used Mannington's luxury vinyl flooring and could not be more pleased with the ease of care and overall aesthetic. Their installers were top notch and have been with the company for many years. Since I have had almost a year to live with this experience, I feel very fortunate to have had such gracious, expert, and cost effective help with this huge project.

We bought hardwood to match existing hardwood in our home based on the large sample piece in the store. Wood arrived today, and it is totally different in color than sample. (Sample was dark with occasional knots. Wood is TOTALLY colorless with an occasional dark area and no knots. It looks like plain wood with polyurethane on it). We were offered two more boxes out of which we could pick the dark wood. However, out of the 15 boxes we ordered, about 2/3 is colorless. Two would not be enough. Or we could get a refund of our $1,800 minus over $400 for restocking. I believe Barefoot Flooring misrepresented their product, and we are paying the price for it.

Allow us to fill a few of the blanks regarding this issue. This customer came to us in search of a specific hardwood. This material was not offered by regular sources of supply but we continued in search of this product. In the course of shopping at our store by the consumer for alternatives, a product on our floor (20'x20' section of hardwood) was to her liking and determined to be the next best option. They opted to order this. It is common knowledge that hardwood flooring is derived from trees, a natural product which contains many variations in color, character, etc. As one could imagine, with this product selected being installed on our showroom floor (for 10+ years), many sales have been consummated from people being able to see this, and all have been very satisfied customers. When it was made evident that the customer no longer wished to keep this floor, the offer was made to waive any restocking/return freight charges if the customer would reselect another product. Certainly they still needed a floor. However, we could not get any return phone calls or other communication. Just an installer of theirs, returning the wood in two trips over the course of a week. In the meantime our efforts had paid off and we located the original product the customer had asked for. But still no return phone calls. The restocking charge and return freight is only what the manufacturer charges us to return special order items. (This is also clearly printed on our contracts) It certainly could have worked out much differently and we would've appreciated that opportunity. It is equally unfortunate that after reviewing this customer's Yelp profile, that only one Yelp member business has satisfactorily met her needs in more than 6 years.
