Such as Dawn, Joy, or clear Ivory. 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide (3% solution available in drug stores) 1 teaspoon undiluted, unscented clear, non-sudsy, household ammonia White vinegar Clean dry white cloths White paper towels Plastic wrap 2 small bowls for mixing Step 1 Mix detergent and warm water in small bowl. Step 2 Scrape or blot up excess spill. Step 3 Apply mixed detergent solution to carpet using a damp cloth or paper towel and leave for 3-5 minutes. Step 4 Blot working from the outside in– do not rub or scrub. Scrubbing could damage the carpet fibers. Step 5 Using a fresh cloth or towel, apply small amounts of clean water to the carpet to remove detergent residue. Any remaining detergent could result in rapid re-soiling of the area. Step 6 Apply a thick stack of paper towels to the area to absorb the water. On top of the paper towels place a smooth bottomed glass baking dish weighted down with a gallon of paint, jug of water, or other heavy object. Step 7 This wicking process may take several hours. Fresh paper towels may be added to the bottom of the stack to speed drying. Step 8 If stain is not removed, mix the hydrogen peroxide and ammonia solution in a small bowl. The mixture must be used within two hours of mixing. Step 9 Apply ammonia and hydrogen peroxide mixture using a clean damp cloth to the affected area. Step 10 Blot working from the outside in– do not rub or scrub. Scrubbing could damage the carpet fibers. Step 11 Let stand 2-3 hours under a weighted sheet of plastic wrap.On top of the plastic wrap place a smooth bottomed glass baking dish weighted down with a gallon of paint, jug of water, or other heavy object. Step 12 Repeat application of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide mixture and allow to air dry until removal is complete. Step 13 Apply undiluted white vinegar using a clean dry cloth only after the stain is removed. The vinegar is necessary to neutralize the ammonia. Step 14 Using a fresh cloth or towel, apply small amounts of clean water to the carpet to remove vinegar residue. Step 15 Apply a thick stack of paper towels to the area to absorb the water.
