last week My wife and i own a few houses we rent in a small town so we went in and spoke with the owner. ( didnt know it was the owner till after the sale) After we picked out carpet and plank flooring and explained to him our needs he stopped us and steered us in a better priced, longer wear flooring. This meant less money and longer wear. He then beat his own written sale price and has went out of his way to help us. We will continue to shop here and reccomend Carpetland to anyone purchasing flooring. Very happy customer Troy and Heather

3 months ago I recently installed wood floors in my house and had the opportunity to work with Mike Mertz at Carpetland. Everything was top notch from beginning until end. Mike Mertz was transparent as can be in the way he conducted business, and the quality of the wood flooring I went with is incredible! If you want quality service and product from beginning until end, I would suggest you go with Carpetland and insist you do business with Mike Mertz! As far as having my wood floors installed, I went with Mike Hansen. His quality of work speaks for itself. My newly installed floors are like a work of art, absolutely incredible! I've never seen such perfection go into a floor. I feel very fortunate to have my floors done by Mike Hansen. It's hard to put a price on the quality of his work, but he did outbid six other contractors I looked at. I would encourage you to insist on working with Mike Hansen! Feel free to ask me for pictures of my flooring and Mike Mertz and Mike Hansen's contact info.

8 months ago tl;dr I'm being threatened with legal action because Carpetland is trying to commit fraud by raising the price of my bill three months after the work was completed. I had carpet and vinyl flooring installed in March for a price I thought was agreed upon. The quote was only ever discussed on the phone, and was never sent to me either in the mail or by email. When the paper bill arrived in the mail for the price I was expecting, I promptly paid my bill and considered the transaction complete. Fast forward to July and I receive a new bill in the mail for over $1100, claiming that the first bill was only for a portion of the work, and was not the full amount, despite my memory of the phone conversation, and the lengthy period of time since the work was completed. I immediately spoke with an employee at Carpetland and explained the situation, detailing how I never received any type of quote or price for what they claimed was the grand total, and that I did not feel it was my responsibility to pay for something that was never detailed to me. Recently I received another invoice in the mail, so I called the store once more to discuss the situation, only to be berated by the owner Jeff Lehms and threatened with legal action because of his own business ineptitude. The failure of the business to adequately provide me with a full quote or expectation of costs is not the responsibility of the buyer, it is 100% the responsibility of the seller. To be treated like a criminal simply because Carpetland failed to send me a proper quote or accurately convey the scope of their work is an insult, and I highly encourage everyone to seek out alternative flooring providers or risk being treated the same. Go elsewhere for your carpet and flooring needs. Not only can this business not be trusted, they treat their customers like criminals for not wanting to be taken advantage of.

9 months ago I'd give them 3 and a half stars if I could. They did our basement carpet last year but it didn't really hit snug under the trim so you can kind of see the concrete floor that's under the carpet if you look really closely to the edges where the carpet meets the wall. Not a big deal... but I was surprised that's how it turned out. Then, this year, they did our hard surface upstairs. I really love how that project turned out. They did cut through a power cord during the install.. which was a little frustrating but we got it fixed on our own. Any little issues we've brought up have been fixed or are scheduled to be fixed. Are they the KINGS of customer service? No. I work in customer service so I have high standards. That being said, we're talking carpet and hard surface people, not the Ritz Carlton. Overall, really love this place; they are the best price in town but you could probably go somewhere else and get a little more "hand holding" but pay A LOT more for it.

10 months ago I had tile and laminate installed in my home. Greg was very patient with me as I returned 3 or 4 times to make a decision. My home was measured in a timely fashion. The subcontractors they sent, Jeremiah and Jake, were hands down the best people I have ever worked with. They did an amazing job and went above and beyond. Very very happy with entire experience!

10 months ago The worst customer service I have ever had in my entire life ... I have never been treated with such disrespect .... And when I tried to explain my disability to the salesman he cut me off and actually started yelling at me .... threatened to not ha e someone finish my installation even tho I had paid in full... basically without calling me a liar he implied I was a liar ... when I asked to speak to his manager ... I was told no... you can speak to me .. he doesn't want to talk to you ... I will speak to his manager and I have waited to make any reviews or complaints because I was threatened with not getting the rest of my installation finished ... when I mentioned I paid in full he said well just take hour money back then ...

10 months ago Absolutely the worst customer service I think I have ever had... I used Carpetland because the builder had used them when my house was built so I decided to use them for new carpeting .... I initially went out to look at Carpet and spoke with Connie and made arrangements to have my home measured... I have a chronic illness that leaves me sick often, I either end up in the ER, surgery, hospital... of course all 3 of those things were happening so trying to get ahold of Connie...

12 months ago Communication with our contact there is TERRIBLE. I have to constantly follow up to see when we are scheduled for and if jobs have been completed. If they have to come back days later, I am never notified. The ONLY reason we stay with Carpet Land is because of the price. We are currently shopping for new companies because the frustration we experience is not worth the cost.

last year I took a piece of carpet from a different store and they matched it up in minutes. Had someone come out and measure and the next day I got an estimate. Thought the install was a little high but they let me order and they delivered the material and I had a friend install the carpet. I absolutely love it. When I get some extra cash I will be back to do the bedrooms. Thanks Bo!

last year Awful customer service on more than one occasion. Our builder went through Carpetland so we originally purchased all of our carpet & tile there. I’ve since returned twice to inquire about additional tile AND carpet. The first time I was with my 3 year old son and received zero help carrying out stacks of heavy tile samples. In fact, the man at the counter (who was worthless from the get go) stood and watched while I struggled to back my way out of the door while holding it open for my son!! The second time I returned to check on some in stock carpet. The same guy sat loudly crunching on popcorn and licking his fingers while looking up our paperwork. He offered zero help in moving forward with the purchase, and left his popcorn greased finger prints all over our papers. Won’t be back!!!
last year Amanda, I apologize for your poor experience during your time at our store. That is not how we like to conduct business and our sales representative should have been much more helpful and professional. If you have any future flooring needs we would love to get a second chance at your business.

last year IN SUMMARY: POOR MANAGEMENT AND UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. DETAILS: I did not have problems with Carpetland until it came to billing. The subcontractors did a very good, professional job. Carpetland charged me for two trips, when they only made one. The square yardage of carpet hauled away was exaggerated and given an arbitrary value (they never measured), increasing the haul-away costs. They charged me for upholstery without telling me it would be extra. They also charged me for installation on all carpet ordered, not just the carpet installed- a detail that was never disclosed to me. They overestimated the carpet needed by about 25%, which then lead to 25% more cost on carpet and on installation. When these concerns were brought to Carpetland, they refused to correct the bill for trips taken, carpet hauled away, upholstered square footage and installation costs . After several attempts to resolve the issue with management (I never received a call back after our conversations in which they assured me they would work to address the issue), they put a lien against my house for the $1,200 difference and when I asked them to act on the lien, they filed a law-suit. We are now in litigation over $1,200, an amount they're sure to surpass in legal fees.

last year Carpet land installed lelonium at our business. They failed to tuck lenolium under the cabinet and left a 12 " wide dip in the floor when it was leveled. I have called three times and no one will call me back. I also found out that they double charged on flooring at a friend's home in a new housing development. I am not paying rest of bill till work is completed right.
last year Please contact us and ask to speak to a manager if these issues have not been taken care of.

last year I would give them negative stars if I could! AWFUL EXPERIENCE - TERRIBLE! We had an absolutely horrible experience with this Carpetland. Their installer, Scott was so incredibly disrespectful to our staff, took no regard for sensitive equipment we had in our clinic to cover things up. The contractor said he didn't even want to be here, then insulted his boss while on the job. They installed tiles incorrectly, again, he didn't even both to cover anything with plastic while he was chipping tiles. Then, they ordered the wrong amount of carpet and couldn't get us dates new carpet would be in. They blamed errors on the subcontractors. You shouldn't have to babysit but apparently, with this group, we do! We saw no concern or respect for us, for our clinic, tp our staff, our equipment, they couldn't care less if they damaged our equipment... unbelievably low work ethic and motivation to do the right thing at Carpetland!

last year Carpet land recently installed carpet for my mother. First, they said the carpet was in stock but it wasn't and had to be ordered. Delay..no big deal those things happened. My 70 year old mother was not able to move the future, the refuse because she had an adjustable bed. Carpet was installed and it was the wrong color. They only believed us after we took the sample they gave us into the store. The correct carpet now had to be ordered. They refused to move any furniture for her...again because of the adjustable bed. Correct carpet came in. By now there was a 4 wk delay. We had long discussions and the only thing they would do was agreed to move the furniture. When the day came they sent one guy who had no idea he was to move furniture and of course didn't. Install took over 4 hours. The salesman admitted to ordering the wrong carpet and knowingly allowed it to be installed hoping that she would be ok with it. They refused to offer any discount on install for their error. We were just asking for a little aknowledgment of the mistake and discount for the inconvenience. Their response was that people make mistakes and that's all it was. Nothing was owed to us for the inconvenience or trouble. Carpet is great. Customer service from Jeff and Jeff was very very poor.

last year The carpet installers damaged a new floor that was put in and Carpet land asked me for pictures, had someone come out and look, asked me for an estimate and then basically called me a liar and is refusing to cover the cost. I have been doing business with them for 15 plus years now for my business and home and will no longer be using them in the future. Terrible way to treat a good customer who has spent thousands of dollars buying flooring from you.

2 years ago I have been looking for a new area rug for quite some time. I found one I liked at a store in Ceresco but wasn’t sure on the size I needed. I wrote the information on the rug I liked and went home to measure my living room. I went online to find the sizes which it was available and learned there was a store in Lincoln that also sold the rugs (Carpetland of course :) I called them to see if they had the carpet in my needed size and what their prices were. They had the carpet at HALF THE COST! I couldn’t believe it. I went up to Carpetland to make sure it was the same rug and size. Sure enough it was!!! Couldn’t believe it. The salesman was really nice, he even shrink wrapped my rug and put it in my car for me! I would definitely stop here before buying anything!

2 years ago Carpetland put in the carpet for our offices and not only does it look great, but they were so helpful and conscientious of how everything looked. They asked questions on the styling of how we wanted the squares laid, they even caught that the rooms wouldn't quite match up with the hallways and came up with a great solution for that as well. I was very impressed by their attention to detail.

2 years ago These guys are solid! I met with Jeff the owner and talked to him about carpeting our commercial building. He ran us through several options and steered us toward a commercial grade carpet square. He then showed us a few "blemished" options (that I can't see the "blem", standing her writing this review, I still can't see it!). Anyway, moving to this option, saved us thousands. This company put us first and that's pretty rare these days. Usually, someone sees a business owner and equates it to dollar signs, not here! Thanks for everything guys, I will continue to refer everyone I know your way!!!!

We carpeted my office as well and used durable carpet squares that have performed well. When we added on they came out and found several samples for is to choose from that would compliment our original carpet. The installation was quick and professional. We even recommended them for our community center and that turned out beautifully :)

I wish I would have read the customer reviews before we went with them.

3 years ago If it weren't for contractors who want to keep their business in Lincoln, this place would've been out of business long ago. We had to use them for tile and carpet and were disappointed with both. I thought the initial experience with the salesperson was fine, but many of the things that we discussed and wrote down on our file, were not relayed to the installers. Getting them to come back and fix a problem took months. Their prices are absolutely absurd, if you compare them to a place like the Mart. I would be willing to spend more on the same product if you get a higher level of service, but that's the opposite of what you get with Carpet Land. Steer clear!

3 years ago Do not recommend -- I will keep this short, be believe me my opinions could be more detailed. 1) Visited store to pick out carpet, person helping was nice and courteous. Scheduled i) the time for them to come measure, and ii) the installation date. 2) The measurement date comes around and no one shows up. 3) Call in and they claim they did not have it scheduled. 4) The installation date arrives, person arrived to house at 10:30 (was quoted b/w 8:30am and 10am). 5) The installer installs ONE of FOUR rooms, claiming he wasn't aware of the magnitude of the installation, even though someone CAME to the house and measured, etc. 6) First room installed was the wrong color carpet. 7) I call in that day to complain; they said oh we will just have to come back out next week -- they apparently don't understand that some people don't want to take off THREE DAYS of work to stay around waiting... 8) I call in to confirm full installation appointment and that the carpet color will be correct and get an, " I am sure the carpet will be installed correctly this time." 8) Carpet guys (much nicer people who have been contracted out) come out and are currently installing...the wrong color carpet, again (but not their fault)/ My multiple phone and in-person experiences with carpetland has led to this terrible, and fitting review.

3 years ago My wife and I stopped into the store today with our young child (midday on the weekend) and after spending 20 minutes wandering around without receiving any service we left. There were 6 employees in the store and only one other customer who was also helping themselves. It was a frustrating experience trying to pick out carpet without getting customer service. Needless to say, we won't be going back there again.

3 years ago We recently replaced all the flooring in our home. A friend recommended Carpetland and we couldn't be more pleased. Our sales person asked questions about the type of flooring we were interested in and about our family lifestyle and pets in the house. She recommended great products and introduced us to Luxury Vinyl Tile - which is what we went with in most of the main floor. She was very patient with us as the process started in August 2015 and carpet and LVT was installed in January 2016. As we were doing some other minor remodeling, our contractor installed the LVT and it looks amazing - our friends who have seen it think it's real wood and are surprised when we tell them what it actually is. Carpetland had arranged for someone to install the carpet. Because it was a large amount of area to install, we were told to allow 2 days for this. Well our installer arrived at 9:30am on a Monday as scheduled and had half the work done by lunch time (four bedrooms) and completed the entire basement and stairs (finished at 6:30pm) and it looks beautiful - can't see any seams, no bubbles, the doorways and basement steps are perfect. As for price, we comparison shopped at NFM and their initial quote was higher for the same products - they did offer to price match once we revealed our Carpetland bid, but we were already sold on Carpetland for the great service we were getting. We also shopped Ernie's but they were unable/unwilling to deal on price. I am recommending Carpetland to all my friends/family.

3 years ago Carpetland has seen me through owning 2 houses with budgets from being flat-broke to having a fair budget for carpet. We first went to Carpetland when we were young, on a budget and replacing bad carpet in our “starter home”. They had a MASSIVE selection of what they called “remnants” which is the carpet they had ‘left over’ from larger jobs. Most of the carpet was really high quality carpet at a fraction of the cost. After we moved we went back to them and had them re-carpet our entire house. Great people and a great company. We have recommended them to several people.

4 years ago We did not select the carpet..the builder did. The carpet was Shaw but did not last a year without getting holes from normal wear and tear. Our builder was approached and called the carpet defective. In the end, we still have the carpet and Carpetland is not helping us with this problem. We don't have children or damaging pets to "tear up" the carpet. This is not a company that will help you if there are issues-Beware.

4 years ago Very poor installation of wood, tile and especially carpet. Very bad sales people (except Jordan- I think he tries but is caught in a hard place). Unprofessional, DISHONEST, does not know the product, showroom is filled with outdated products. Owner Jeff L. yelled at us and insulted us in the middle of his showroom when we wanted our manufacturer credit that was due to us for a faulty product. He refused to give us OUR credit for several weeks and it was only due to a reputable, great company (Kelly's in Omaha) that we got our manufacturer issued credit. Awful/stressful experience that I must share so others do not get caught up in their dishonest, cheating practices. After talking with my builder, it turns out that they lied to us about what kind of carpet allowance we had. My builder proved to me that she paid more than the amount that Carpetland said that we had to work with for a replacement on the junk carpet. Again: DISHONEST! Nobody should have to replace carpet on a 4 year old higher end ($365,000) house, but due to the junk they offer, the terrible installation, we had to. Reason we had to go there: our builder used Carpetland. Our 4 year old house had defective polyester carpet that the manufacturer deemed was indeed a product failure and issued us a partial credit. Shaw(the manufacturer) sent our credit to Carpetland in the form of an order credit. When it became clear to us that we didn't want to do business with Carpetland, Jeff L. (Owner) REFUSED to give us our manufacturer credit. I called Shaw (the manufacturer that issued the credit) and they said that there was nothing they could do. After getting nowhere with Shaw and Carpetland (I call them both the "carpet mafia") we reached out to Kelly's carpet in Omaha. The good people there helped us and we finally got our credit. Summary on Carpetland: dishonest people (except Jordan), dishonest practices, terrible quality (product & installation), rude, lying, thieving owner who treats everyone poorly, the worst experience from a business that I have ever had in Lincoln. We completely remodeled a 1920s bungalow and had 20+ years of home remodeling experience and NEVER had issues with any contractor/supplier/business until Carpetland unfortunately entered our lives. NEVER AGAIN! Save yourself the $ and stress! Go to Kelly's in Omaha or Emo Flooring in Lincoln!

5 years ago We recently moved to Lincoln from out of state. I needed to pick flooring for our new home and the builder uses Carpetland. They were fabulous!! Everyone was extreme helpful and made the move much less stressful. When the builder was creating small bumps in the road Carpetland was always there to back my choices:):). Thanks Carpetland!!!!

5 years ago Well we came in to look for flooring for the bathroom and 45 min later while we sat and waited for help and listened to salesmen talk about weekend plans with each other we finally decided we could be ignored somewhere else......don't waste your time....from the prices I could see in the jumbled up mess they call a sales floor you will be better off going to the mega mart

5 years ago The carpet we bought was fine, but like the previous reviewer, we had trouble with the installers who put a bad scratch on our newly refinished kitchen wood floor. The Carpetland manager wouldn't return our calls or take any ownership of the issue. This went on for weeks and weeks. Finally, our home builder who had recommended we purchase there felt badly about the recommendation and paid for the refinish. We need new carpets in other areas now, and although they have a good selection, I doubt we'll go back there.

6 years ago If you choose to buy from this place, make sure you don't believe them when they tell you the day your purchase will arrive. This has happened to me twice now. Unfortunately, this time is worse because we have a contractor scheduled to start working on our kitchen, based on when we were told our tile would arrive, and now it's not going to be delivered on time. Guess how much Roger at Carpetland cared? Zero. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

6 years ago We purchased ceramic tile and engineered flooring from their sales floor and they performed the installation. The wood flooring we purchased has a great deal of variance in the contrast of the wood and length of the wood strips. Because of this, one would expect the installer to understand the importance of distributing the tones somewhat equally so that one part of the room isn’t all one tone or one size of flooring strip. This was not the case with our installation. No effort was made to vary the sizes or tones of the flooring pieces. Thus, our new wood floors have sections where it is all dark or all light wood as well as clusters of very small strips of flooring (1-2ft) and clusters of very long strips of flooring (4ft). In short, it looks terrible. The problems we encountered with the purchase and installation of the ceramic tile began at the point of purchase. We were told by the salesperson that the style of tiles we were purchasing had a high degree of variance in tone from tile to tile: i.e.: Some tiles were light and some tiles were dark. We chose this product for that reason. Upon installation, we discovered this to not be the case and that the tiles were, in fact, nearly identical in tone; the opposite of what the salesperson had told me. Also at the time of sale, nobody informed me that smaller tiles of the same style were available. Had I known this, I would have purchased some of the smaller tiles to enhance the new flooring. Also, nobody inquired as to how I would like the tiles to be set. Luckily, I was present prior to installation to let the installer know that I wanted them laid diagonally. While this did avert another disappointment, I was still met with an unexpected charge for laying the tiles diagonally. One would think these things would be something that the sales representative would have covered with me as I purchased the tiles and ordered installation. Another problem that I had was the response to my question regarding the warranty. According to the sales representative, Carpetland offers no warranty on their product or installation. According to the installer, he guarantees his work, but only verbally and with the promise that he’ll answer his cell phone if you call. I do have problems and I would like them remedied, but I am hesitant to have him back to my home for reasons that I will cover later. The biggest problem that I have with the installation of the tile is similar to the problem I have with the installation of the wood flooring. It’s obvious that no thought was given to the placement and direction of the tiles as they were laid, which resulted in numerous examples of identical tiles right next to each other facing the identical direction. Again, even a novice knows better than to do that and it looks terribly unprofessional. I don’t know if sealing the grout is part of the installation, but the installer did not seal the grout and explained that he included a waterproofing mixture into the grout, negating the need to seal it. Unfortunately, it’s abundantly clear that the grout is not waterproof, as you can watch water absorb directly into the grout upon contact. Under normal circumstances, I would call the installer and ask him about this, but considering that he took such an angry tone with me when we were trying to get him to finish the installation job in the first place; I’m not particularly inclined to converse with him or to have him back in my home. In closing, I also want to point out that I have never heard of a business of this type not sending someone over to inspect the job prior to billing. Everyone I have spoken to who has had this sort of service performed has informed me that there was a final inspection before final billing. Nobody beyond the installer has come over to inspect the job that was done. This leads me to suspect that the problems I had with their service happen often.

6 years ago I needed to have my bathroom and hallway redone in linoleum. The bathroom already had linoleum but the hallway had carpet. Instead of removing the linoleum in the bathroom, they installed new linoleum over the top and elevated the hallway to make it level. The trouble? My other rooms in the house are not at the same level, and there is a significant bump when entering the hallway. It is very pronounced and people can easily trip on it. I believe they just wanted to avoid the extra work of ripping out the old flooring, and I was never informed they were going to use this method. Nobody came over to inspect the job after it was done, and after multiple phone calls, it is still unresolved. They refused to inspect it themselves or compensate me in any way, and in fact wanted me to spend another $80 to install some sort of rubber "stepping" to help with the problem. This wasn't part of the original estimate. I would also like to add that the salesperson, Roger, was very unhelpful in his demeanor. I have never worked with a more gruff, cranky salesperson in my career. Not only that, but he got the linoleum product code wrong on the estimate. If I had not caught this basic error, I would also have the completely wrong linoleum right now. I advise anyone to steer clear of Carpetland. Their salespeople lack training and professionalism, their estimators do not account for level changes in the house, their installers are lazy, and their management does not respond to customer dissatisfaction.
