I saved money here because everything is included. You don't pay extra to have your carpet hauled away or to have your new floor delivered. Also, the quality here is way above what you get at the DIY store we looked at.My floor is beautiful. I put off doing this because I knew I would have a nightmare with my baseboards. These have to be removed if you don't install carpet if you want it to look good. If you don't, it looks like amateur work. For the most part, you can't tell the baseboards were removed. I believe it was Gary's daughter who re-installed them? Anyway, she must have gone to baseboard school/college/university as she is excellent at doing this. It saved me days of extra workIf you price shop, make sure you are comparing equal products. I took a small sample of what Gary sold me over to Lowes. They only had one product that was of similar quality. The rest were low end.The floor is still awesome after 10 months. The flooring used was waterproof, so I decided to test that. I soaked a piece of scrap flooring, in water, for three weeks. Nothing happened. The scrap looked like nothing had happened to it.

Wasn't pleased with the experience. First time remodeling our home and we went with this company because we could get everything we wanted done in one stop. Unfortunately, it wasn't as easy as it was sold to us. We were not educated in the process and on what to expect and we felt very left out along the way. From missed time frames to wrong flooring installed. I felt the only time we were valued was when it was time for them to collect our money. I wish the experience would have been better especially since this was our first time remodeling, because it is something we will do again later on, but not with this company. I wouldn't recommend unless you like not being valued as a customer and your phone calls not being answered. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because our cabinets and flooring look good, but getting there was miserable.

Purchased from The Carpet Guy 3 times now, as I’ve had 3 different homes over the past 15 years. They’re the best outfit in town for quality carpets and fast service no matter how much I shop around. It’s so easy to work with them that it makes me not want to DIY any of my other flooring needs. Prices were less than big box store price quotes for me.

We went to the showroom and felt like he was looking down at us. He did say he would come give an estimate so we set up a time. He never showed or even called. Very unprofessional. We had a large job that we took elsewhere. I would never do business with this company

The owner sold my elderly mother a carpet that she was told would wear very well. It has not worn well it just been 20 months or so and in all of the traffic areas its packed down &lifeless ugly & Expensive. We as a family are upset by his promises of quality, longevity, forced color due to shipping cost. If something else was desired. He took advantage of this old lady.

David we are sad to hear of this issue about your mothers carpet. This is the first we have hear anything about this. We would like to have an inspector from Shaw Industries to stop by and look at the carpet to see what can be done. Very concerned. Gary Penrose 801-417-5600

This company is amazing to work with. Gary was super friendly and responsive. The carpet installers did a fabulous job! From start to finish the job was done super quickly and the price was great. I would definitely recommend this company and plan to use them again.

These guys are terrible. No customer service at all. We had them replace all of the carpet in our home, but 3 months later we had wrinkles showing up in 4 rooms. They would NOT come out and re-stretch it. Flat refused! The dad called my wife some unpleasant names and hung up on her. (BTW, my wife is a very nice person and never uses bad language or threats etc) Too bad the owner does not have any of those qualities. It cost us $375 to have another company re- stretch it

We’ve used the Carpet Guy for our last 2 carpet purchases and we’ve had 2 perfect experiences! Gary was great in helping us pick out a great quality product that was within our budget. We will definitely use the Carpet Guy in the future and would recommend anyone else do the same. It was so very pleasant to go to work and then come home to new carpet .Thank you Carpet Guy.

Went in to the store, young man who helped was great. They had transposed our phone number & have been leaving messages elsewhere. Tony called yesterday to explain the confusion & he's already been out here & measured. I'm hopeful things will go better going forward.

This is based on my experience from 2 years ago. All I can say is get a written quote from Gary because he tries to throw extra charges at you last minute. The poor guy who installed carpet did great but was all by himself and it took 3 days. Also, we went at 2 PM on a weekday to look at samples and the place was closed because he was out doing an errand. Um, ok.

If you read the other reviews, you’ll see that The Carpet Guy is great... as long as you don’t have any problems. That was certainly our experience. Everything started out great: the sales guys were friendly, the owner, Gary, was friendly, the installation went fine, everything seemed to be good. The problem started when I questioned the square yardage we were quoted and billed for. It’s a very long story, but to sum up: Gary made a mistake on how much carpet we needed and we were overcharged. I do believe it was an honest mistake, but he handled the confrontation poorly. I had to be very persistent over multiple days in trying to engage Gary to help me figure out what was going on; and the more I brought it up, the less helpful he became. During our final phone conversation he got fed up, cut me off, wouldn’t answer my questions, accused me of nitpicking, and then hung up on me. I called back immediately to ask why he’d hung up on me, and he wouldn’t answer the phone. A few minutes later he continued the conversation through text, which I considered extremely unprofessional. Since there was no one else I could work with (I called the office and asked), the issue was eventually resolved through text, though not to my complete satisfaction because my questions remained unanswered and Gary's behavior left me very hurt and upset. So, great company to work with if there aren’t any problems, but very unprofessional and extremely rude if there are. Gary got annoyed at me for asking questions and not implicitly trusting him, but if I had done that, we would have lost out on a large sum of money and paid for carpet we didn’t need and didn’t receive.

Carpet was overpriced for quality. Install was ok. Large seam shows in center of family room. Didn’t want to wait to move furniture back in for days so had to live with it. After 7 months carpet in hall rippled and needs to be stretched. I have called 4 times to have it fixed. In the last 5 months I have received one call about coming to fix it that afternoon. I was out of town for work so they said they would call back another day. Guess I’ll have to pay another company to come fix what should have been warrantied.

10 years ago my husband had a stroke and I needed our home changed for wheelchair accessibility. They came and took all the carpet up and put in Pergo flooring all in 2 days. This floor is still perfect. Yesterday I called to get carpet in the basement. I received a call Within hours and a estimate. This is the only company I will use for all my flooring needs. They are very professional.

Fair prices, but... we have had issues with our laminated flooring and despite several phone calls will not come back to fix their poor installation. (The carpet looks nice, but the installation crew did not clean up after themselves - we had to vacuum the whole house).

We got carpet today in our basement. 2 bedrooms, a long hallway and stairs. The installer was so nice and fast for being alone. Took 5 hours, which to me someone doing it alone, is awesome!! We will come back to “The Carpet Guy” for future endeavors.

Worst experience ever! Be super careful when buying carpet from these guys! They are very unethical shady! Our experience started out great! After talking about making payments with the owner son I got a phone call from the owner stating he never authorized that! I began to tell him that his son was the one who set it up with us and he began to yell at me over the phone telling me that that never happened. He authorized the full amount to go through my checking account without asking! I will never go back to them!!!

Gary is great to work with. It was a great experience from start to finish. He carpeted our whole basement and it still looks great 6 years later. Gary even sent one of his employees over to restretch our carpet upstairs for free that wasn't even purchased or installed by the carpet guy.

I was worried about going with them because of the bad reviews about installing carpet on time. We had a very easy time setting up the carpet delivery and installation, we even had to change the date twice and both times they treated it like it wasn't a big deal. They have a great selection of carpet, and they don't pull you into buying the expensive carpet, in fact when we were looking at a more expensive carpet they found a cheaper alternative without us even asking.

They installed vinyl flooring in a bathroom without an underlayment so the floor is one inch lower than the hall carpet. It created a tripping hazard at the top of the stairs. I called the owner, Gary Penrose, and asked him to correct it. All he wanted to do was argue. The owner called me an "Ass" and hung up. I checked the pad under the carpet they installed. We ordered the best padding but got the cheap stuff. Gary's original bid was $650 but he raised the price to $1,150 and got it from my wife.

Absolutely the worst customer service ever! They promise to call you back but never do you have to constantly be chasing them down and then the work never gets done cause nobody ever shows up when they're supposed to they don't even have the courtesy to let the customers with appointments know they're going to be 7 hrs late or that they're just not gonna show up I can't believe this place is even in business!

BEWARE- I had carpet ordered and they were nice enough to hold it for me for a month while completing other work. Carpet installed but no paperwork as to warranty on work, carpet, pad... so called to say I would pay when invoice received. Was accused of being a bad person for not paying without getting paperwork/warranty first- knowing that no warranty would be upheld if I paid first. Apparently the customer is not right with this business and I still have not received any invoice-despite paying one month ago. Very disappointing. The reason given was owner on a cruise-returned 12/5-still no invoice/warranty, despite additional follow up call two weeks ago.

Worst communication and follow up. Late for warranty appointment, didnt follow up (said installers would call to fix issue) and has not returned call or text in over a week. August is when flooring installed, issue given to Manager Mid April and Nothing done or communicated as of May 13th. Took business to RC Willey for second home, Carpet Guy lost 5k in business just for not honoring warranty. Beware!! #smallclaims #flakey

I changed my review from 1 star to 3. It still took 4 weeks for them to install carpet on my stairs because they kept canceling the appointments. The reason for 3 stars is because it is a good price and the carpet looks nice. If they had done it when promised it would have been 5 stars.

I changed my review from 1 star to 3. It still took these guys 4 weeks to install carpet in my stairs. I am giving it a 3 because the carpet was a good price and looks good. If they had installed it when they said they would, instead of pushing it out almost every day for four weeks, I would have given them 5 stars.

I just called their main telephone number (the 417-5600 #), and the kid who answered the phone was incredibly rude to me. Before I could even ask him my first question, he cut me off mid sentence and hung up on me! I've never experienced such deplorable customer service, and I wouldn't recommend these people to ANYONE based on merely that alone. I'm not even typically concerned with the quality of a business's customer service, but the Carpet Guy's is SO horrible, that it merits a comment and review.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & FOLLOW-UP!!
We did business directly with the owner Gary Penrose, who we met the first time we entered his store. He was very helpful in the store and eager to do business. We felt good about the bid he gave us and proceeded to purchase flooring with installation. That's when things changed... the installation was delayed, the appropriate measures were not taken to prep our floor for tile, installation guys used existing materials which were supposed to be replaced and we were not given a credit, carpet installation took much longer than necessary or what was promised, COMMUNICATION WAS POOR, we called several times to schedule, we spoke to Gary directly about problems after installation (cracked grout) that took 6 WEEKS to resolve!! The entire process became a hassle. I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THE CARPET GUY!!

Untrustworthy Business!
I did business with a guy named Dan at their location on 6210 South 3200 West. They misrepresented measurements so when I went to install it would not work for my home. When I called Dan and explained the measurements are wrong he said "what do you want me to do about it". When I asked to do a return and get my money back he said no way and hung up on me. We are trying to contact the owner to settle this but have had no luck. They falsely advertised and now I am stuck with something I can't use.
