We had a unique situation in our computer room where we needed an attractive but firm carpet to roll office chairs on. Kay Riley was able to get us the right carpet with the right pad, and we think it's going to be wonderful! Installer was amazing, an absolute perfectionist, and we experienced probably the best installation we've ever had in 45 years of living in Bountiful. We'll be back!

The process of purchasing and ordering the carpet went smoothly. The install looks fantastic. Each room and each stair look spectacular. My reason for the 3 star rating was the significant damage done to my baseboards and walls. Scratches, dings, and even some corner baseboards knocked loose means hours of more work for me to patch, remount, and repaint. I was expecting a little bit of this, but not nearly the extent that was sustained.

They stand by their product quality. I had ripples in my carpet they had installed a five years ago. Technically I was over their 5 year warranty and they didn't need to do anything about it, but Gary came out and agreed to get the carpet fixed at no additional charge. I can tell you that they will listen and do the right thing for you as long as you're kind and reasonable to them.

We had Kay Riley do some work for us a couple of years ago on a property we were getting ready to sell. Our budget was pretty tight, so most of the options that Kay Riley had available were not a good fit for us. But ultimately we were able to find a nice linoleum floor that matched well with what we had going on in the rest of the house. The work was scheduled quickly (less than 2 weeks out if I remember correctly) and the installer was able to complete the work in a single day. The people at Kay Riley are top notch. Thanks to the new flooring in the Bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room, we were able to bring new life to some dated boring spaces (old and dated flooring became bright and new!). This ultimately helped us sell the house for the price we needed. We appreciate the Kay Riley team and plan to work with them again in the future.

I don’t do or shop flooring very much but the LVP flooring we had installed looks fantastic. It looks like real wood but since it is glue down vynl planks it won’t mold if we have water leakage. It is also tough. I like it so much I want to do two more rooms. The installer also went the extra mile to redo the stairs when the adhesive had issues.

I went in and picked out a remnant carpet on Tuesday. I was told they would put it on hold for me and that I could not have an estimate for it until they came to measure my room. They came the next day and measured and found it would fit great. I was told I would receive a bid Thursday. I didn’t so I called Friday. I was told that the remnant I picked was sold and was not available. That it had actually been sold and just sitting in their remnant section for 3 years. This is bogus and they are not ethical business people. I consult for retail businesses and recognize when someone is being dishonest and unethical. I would not recommend using their services.

Everything about Kay Riley was beyond superior. From helping us choose the right color and best flooring for our needs, to install, to a repair a year and a half later, it was all fabulous. When we needed some small repairs done, their owner, Gary, came to our home and personally fixed it. He was here several hours and didn't charge us....and he was delightful to chat with. We love the quality and customer service from Kay Riley and will definitely be using them again in the future!

We had our wood floors sanded and stained, new wood floors put in, and carpet put in our bedrooms and I have mixed feelings.We worked with Carol and she was AWESOME. Serious kudos to her for her customer service.In regards to our wood floors, they matched the old floors to the new floors flawlessly. Their guys that put the floors down were very nice, and the color is beautiful. The crew did leave a huge mess (stain rags in our bushes, all of their garbage including saw dust went into our full recycling can), and they had some wonky cuts and some areas that they didn’t extend the floor all the way so I’m going to have to be creative with my toe kicks and baseboards.We had our floors done in late September and I have since noticed several areas that the wood filler has sunk, exposing several gaps between the wood planks. There are also some areas that are a little high, and I can feel the edge of the board if I step on it the wrong way.I will say that they did send someone out to look at a few of the areas that were not repaired by the wood floor guys, which I appreciated. But there were only two small areas that I had noticed at the time.We had three small bedrooms that needed tack strip, pad, and carpet. One guy showed up and it took him several days. On the last day he said that his vacuum died so he wouldn’t be able to vacuum up the loose carpet fibers and offered, as compensation, to fix the carpet on the stairs that the wood floor guys messed up. I also noticed that in the entryway of the doors you could feel the tacks on the tack strips, so we have had to adjust that on our own.We definitely paid more than we would have going with a big box store, but I was comfortable doing that because I want to support local businesses and had heard such great things about this particular business. That being said, we are putting in new carpet in our basement and we have decided to go with another local business.

Terrible customer service and communication. I never knew when the contracted workers were going to show, Kay Riley was completely out of the loop and unorganized, and no one takes ownership. I am constantly frustrated by their lack of communication and I would NOT recommend their services.

This place was terrible. My husband and I went in and spent at least 15 minutes walking around, no one greeted us, asked if we needed help, they looked over and completely ignored us. My husband is a repeat customer, this was my first time. Never would I ever recommend a place with zero customer service.

We have had 3 different homes and Kay Riley laid the carpet in all 3. They are wonderful to work with. They have one of the largest choices of carpet, wood flooring,tile for kitchen or bath. And the prices are as good if not better than others carpet stores.

We placed a very insignificant order for some luxury vinyl flooring. It was a very small-ticket item for them. Through no fault of theirs, their supplier messed up and we were inconvenienced a little. Kay Riley & Co. went out of their way to make this up to us. Every time we have dealt with them it has been 100% positive. They have the best customer service of any company I've dealt with for a long time.

We had some kind of difficult spots in the floor installation in our home. When it was finished there were some room transitions that just didn’t look right (colors and width of materials). Gary came out and not only reworked the room transitions (they look so much better) but came up with an innovative way to make a strange sloping spot in the utility room floor look really professional. We appreciate their willingness to make sure we were happy with the result.

I called and needed a piece of carpet for our truck bed; they told me they would check and call me back. I received a call back within 10 minutes and they had exactly what I was looking for for a great price. Kristen is terrible!! Waited 3 weeks for a price, got it and it was wrong, she told us it's our fault that we are not patient enough. Asked to speak to a manager, and Kristen was who answered. Got a more professional experience elsewhere for way less, and done quicker with no hassle... buyer beware these people are terrible!!!

I have worked in our family business for over 20 years and have established a large group of customers that recommend me as their preferred design consultant. My Grandfather established Kay Riley Flooring nearly 70 years ago. Our life blood has always been positive word of mouth from our satisfied customers. I worked directly with their realtor who contacted me August 1st letting me know where they wanted carpet and laminate. Shortly after I emailed their realtor the approximate pricing to give them an idea on what flooring would cost. He told me that the Scherer's would be contacting me to set up an appointment to come in to look at product. Two weeks had past with no word from the Scherer's. I then received an email from them stating that they popped in and took pictures of colors they wanted pricing on. The email was sent over a weekend that I wasn't working. The pictures were only of colors excluding the style, which required time finding the exact products requested. Mrs. Scherer then called upset that we measured the wrong areas. We explained that our estimator was shown by the realtor each room to measure which he did as requested. It was mentioned that we were $1000 dollars higher than the other bid, we suspect it was because the areas bid were not the same. I take responsibility for any missed communication that may have occurred but unfortunately, I was able to only work through their realtor. I never had the pleasure of meeting with them to better understand their needs. Please accept our sincerest apology and we wish them the very best. Kristin

First of all, you are a liar. We cancelled one appointment with you and tried to reschedule the following week not 2 weeks later but you were busy and going on an extended weekend and said maybe the next week we could meet. We have an email between our realtor and you to prove this. We came in a couple days later and took pictures since we were in the area. We worked up an email and asked that you please let us know you got it and where we stood. You ignored us for 3 days. When we finally got in touch with you, you admitted that you've been too busy and promised to get back with us the next morning. Again, day was almost over and we had to call you. Also, at no point did we say the measurements were wrong from your estimator. You were wrong because you didn't listen to what we had asked numerous times and then you lied stating that we had never talked before last week so you didn't know what our expectations were but a few weeks ago my realtor called you while standing in our kitchen and put you on speaker to explain your quote and go over our expectations. Own up to your mistakes and quit pointing the finger at others.

Although I love my floor and backsplash their customer service and ability to complete the work needs lots of help....my backsplash was rescheduled 6 times and initially forgotten...I also trceived a bill 4 the balance more than a month before the job was completed. No one seemed to care that it took over 4 months to complete!!! Oops!!!!

I went to Kay Riley based on a recommendation of a neighbor (based on their experience a few years ago). Kay Riley's attention to details from ordering, scheduling, and installation are horrible. Seems like all they care about is taking your money. We paid extra for premium carpet and received horrible service, installation and follow through. To this day, we still have installation issues that have not been fixed. The owner of the company even came to our house and yelled at us - professional! Amazing how little respect they have for the customer when it comes right down to it. "Like owner like employee" they just don't care. I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere for the service and quality that you deserve. It is my personal goal to steer anyone I can away from using this company. Buyer Beware!

After reading our response please ask your selves if this sounds like a company that “just doesn't care".To begin, I did raise my voice at one point to match that of Mr. Hardy's. I immediately apologized. I also confess that the mill did not ship the carpet on the truck it was promised for. This delayed the installation and because of that, we offered to move their furniture both in and back out. He said no, so we compensated the Hardy's $500 for their inconvenience.They had concerns about the installation on their steps. I explained that staples were necessary to install on steps especially upholstered ends, and that they show more on their particular type of Berber carpet. I further stated that I would invite them to call any other reputable carpet company and have them assess our installation. They were not interested in doing so. We agreed that we would send out a crew to try and minimize the staple marks. We did so the next day. They could still see the marks so we ordered more carpet at no cost to replace some of the issues of concern. When the carpet came in we sent an installer back. He spent a lot of time to make sure the work he had done would be acceptable. He asked the Hardy's if they were happy with the work he had done. They said yes. One day later we got another call saying they were not happy with what he had done. We sent him back the next day the installer spent more time and asked them to look at the work done. They said they were happy.We have since repeatedly sent letters requesting payment of the balance remaining, with no response. The only communication we have received from Mr. Hardy since the installer was told "they were happy”, is the review you just read and we were surprised to read.It should also be noted that we offered to replace the entire stairway, but that we could not guarantee that it would not show staple marks. The Hardy's have not only accepted the $500 discount for inconvenience, but apparently decided to not pay the remaining $535.44 balance still owed for the job.On two different occasions Mr. Hardy’s deliberate rudeness has brought one of our sales people to tears. This may have had something to do with my need to apologize for raising my voice.This will be our 68th year in business. We treat people fairly and we love our customers. My name matches the building. We are proud of our name and our reputation. It is important that we do everything possible to make our customers happy. I can honestly say we did everything we could, to get the Hardy's happy. With all the integrity hopefully passed on from my late father. I make this statement. If we failed in not getting our customer happy. I have purchased carpeting and flooring no less than 4 times from Kay Riley. I have found a couple items that are important to me. Their cost was less than other places that I had considered. Their install people did a great job in installing the flooring on time and making it look great. Every once and in a while you find a company where you really like doing business; this is one of those companies. My wife and I have been absolutely delighted with their value.

We finished our basement and used Kay Riley for the flooring. They did an excellent job with the detailed tile work in the bathroom. The patterned carpet was installed perfectly. They have great installers and the office staff was really helpful in helping to pick the carpet.

I had a bit of a rough time with this company and customer service, but Gary Riley, one of the owners, called me and was extremely nice. We worked through my issues and I feel much better about it. I wish all of their employees were as professional and personable!

I was SO impressed with Kelly at the Clinton store. She even came out to my house to help me pick out the right carpet! I love the small close knit feel, with a HUGE selection. Thank you Kay Riley! I will be a returning customer for SURE!!

Quality and schedule are crap. They were given multiple chances to redo their shoddy workmanship and I finally cut them off of chances. Gary Riley himself inspected the work multiple times and agreed it was not professional quality. He dropped the ball on multiple occasions, and inspected it after the last go'round and said it was fine, but admitted that all promises were not met..... GGGGGRRRR!

When we arrived at Ms. Woods house to measure and prepare an estimate to restore her old wood floor, there were boxes all over (they were moving) that concealed animal urine damage on the floor. Had we seen it or had it been pointed out, we would have appropriately informed her of an additional procedure and cost that requires removing and replacing urine damaged planks. When the installer showed up at the agreed time Ms. Wood said they were not ready and asked to reschedule. When they showed up on the second occasion she canceled again, zero notice both times. When this happens our installers go without work or pay for 1 -2 days. When the installer arrived the third time there was no one there. The door was opened and saw the damage, he assumed the home owner had decided not to replace the wood because she had not brought the issue to our attention hence it was not on the work order. He proceeded with the sand and finish process. When Ms. Wood returned to the home and saw the flaw, she called and I returned to inspect. In a good faith effort, we came back and replaced the area at no charge. We finished the job and thought we had addressed all concerns but Ms. Wood called at the time of billing to say that there were still unresolved issues. We offered to come out to take care of her concerns, but she would not allow us to come look or disclose what the issue was. After two attempts to further understand the issue it became apparent that Ms. Wood was not seeking resolution to a problem she said existed, she was seeking money. In spite of discounting her $1500.00 invoice by $750.00 and multiple requests to understand what issue was we were unsuccessful. Moral of the story. Mistakes happen, we work hard to fix any problems that occur. If you prefer to work with companies that bend over backwards to satisfy customers and follow up multiple times and offer solutions when problems arise. Please feel free to contact us. We have offered the same to Ms. Wood but she has been unwilling to even discuss the problem with us.More

Talked to Gary. told him time frame for the job was the biggest priority. he gave us a price with that in mind and we confirmed and told him we would pay it if he could do it in the time frame. he agreed. time frame was 6 days. they took 31 DAYS to complete. my closing was delayed because of it. excuse after excuse. product delays 3 times( order enough the first time) to many other jobs(bad time management) grout is already cracking after 2 months. i made him come to the house to pick up a check and show him the mess left after. he picked up a check walked down my front walk and spit on my yard while leaving. make them sign a performance contract and you will see them head for the hills. buyer beware.

My fiancé and I just purchased our first home (overwhelming is an understatement). We checked out Home Depot, Lowes, RC Willey, and even a few other small flooring businesses. We went with Kay Riley and boy, did we make the right choice! From the knowledgeable sales people to the polite installers-- they were great! I was nervous about a few of the seams turning out with the carpet we chose, but they turned out great! What seams? ;) Gary Riley, one of the owners, even stopped by to see the work. Great to work with from start to finish
Gabi, sales associate for Kay Riley, has been great to work with. She was friendly, knowledgable, and very pleasant to work with. She was willing to help us with several different styles of carpet before we finally decided on the TruSoft. It was installed 2 days ago and I have enjoyed every step I've taken on the carpet. It's just what I was hoping for. And their price was less than two other competitors. The installer had many years of experience and treated my home with care. The installation went very smoothly and done very well.

I've worked with Kay Riley and sons for years for my personal residence. I was very pleasantly surprised when I needed flooring for my rental property and I really needed inexpensive flooring. After all those years of working with them, I didn't realize that they have great pricing for entry-level flooring. I got value pricing with all of the great service I always get for more the higher quality flooring in my home.

I recently had some carpet replaced by Kay Riley and Sons in a home that I owned in Layton. What impressed me most was the fact that they tried to save me some dollars on some carpet that had received water damage in the basement. They suggested that they might be able to clean it with their carpeting cleaning service. I was totatlly impressed when the light colored carpet came out looking so good. That saved me many $$$$. They went on to replace the carpet up stairs, which added a new look and smell to the rooms. I was able to sell the home shortly after having this done. I feel like the people at Riley's really care and in this case saved me money. I would highly recommend this company to any one looking for carpet. Randy

We have had an outstanding experiencing with replacing our carpet from start to finish. The first time I stepped foot in the beautiful retail store I was warmly greeted by the staff. I had shopped around at several other furniture and flooring stores which I felt like I was being pushed and pressured into making a decision on carpet before I was really ready. I thought some of the big furniture and flooring stores would be able to get me the best deal, but that wasn't the case. I was treated like a friend from the sales people and they acted more like a consultant to make sure I understood all the differences between the carpet. There were no extra hidden costs slapped on that I wasn't aware of until the last minute. When the installer came to put the carpet in, he did a great job. I checked his work to make sure there were no flaws, and it was perfect. He worked for 12 hours straight on the first day so we could get our furniture back in the main areas of our house. I didn't see him take a single break. I would highly recommend Kay Riley & Sons for anyone that is looking for any flooring needs they have. Ky O.

Overall, a very well done job from prep to the workmanship itself.
Kay Riley did wood flooring and ceramic tile in the kitchen. They did a very good job. I'm very pleased with the results overall. The only reason I take points off is that it was a little slow. They did work and there were some extenuating circumstances, but it took a little longer than I anticipated.

I'll never go anywhere else for wood floors again.
I was given a project to be done at the last minute, and we brought some wood in to acclimate. I was so concerned about the look of the wood matching what we already had that I didn't check the wood to see if the color would match. When we opened the box, the wood color was way off and we only had a week to finish the project. Kay Riley & Sons ordered new wood, brought it in to acclimate, and got it all done in a week. We bought an old house with wood floors and my husband attempted to refinish them himself. Let's just say it didn't go so well. Upon a recommendation from a friend, I called Kay Riley and Sons and they sent out a team that undid the damage done by my well-meaning husband and did a great job refinishing the floor. It has been three years now and the floor still looks great.

Quality is crap!! Long story short, they cant keep a schedule, they cant refinish hardwood, they promise and dont fulfill and even the owner admitted the work was crap, came in multiple times to redo and I wrote them off as a hack. Save yourself the frusteration and money!!!!

We have huge gaps in our hard wood that was put in by KRS. I told them immediately that I wanted them to fix it. They came out to look at it and I was told gaps are acceptable unless you can fit two quarters standing side by side! I can fit a nickel does that count?! I have been trying to get them to fix it for the last six years. Good luck if you go with them.

Kept it affordable for us
They installed our carpet and kept up with us, giving us information about what we can do and making sure it was within our price range. We had gone to another local store that ended up being a few hundred dollars more so Kay Riley and Sons Flooring and Design kept it affordable for us. \t\n\t\nThe work turned out great too!

Always superb
We've been with Kay Riley & Sons Flooring and Design for twenty-eight years. They're our go-to people for flooring. We'll always keep going back because they are trustworthy, helpful, and do professional work.\t\n\t\nMost recently they helped us with carpeting for a home that we're getting ready to sell. We didn't want something fancy, but still a good quality and they were very helpful. Brian was very helpful and he always got back to us. It was all the way around a fabulous experience.

Most flooring stores will offer a lower price per square foot but they make up for the low price by over measuring, and then telling you that you need more product than you really do. Go with honesty and a group of people you can trust! It is worth it!

Not good – Way too high priced. Overrated. I found the people to be quite unfriendly and not helpful. They buy cheap and sell expensive! Don't go here!!!
