The invoice shows **** ****** as the address however one member of this duo team asked me not to go to their showroom on Lancaster Highway (?) so I'm not sure if the correct street address is Monroe in NC or Lancaster IN SC. Instead of going to the show room this sales person said he'd come to the house and bring sample pads and carpets and I agreed to this. The man recommended an in-stock carpet which was installed without much delay. The installers put a dent in the wall behind a door which I reported to Carefree. My entire home has been painted just prior to carpet installation. initially, Carefree was reluctant to take responsibility but did so when it was disclosed by one of the duo that installers are to take photos of all existing damage prior to installation - which they hadn't done -because the damage did not exist prior to installation. The new padding underfoot is an improvement. The color of the carpeting is different in different light - looking more gray at night and more beige during the day - a lesson - get a large sample and look at it in different light before ordering. The reason for my rating of "1" has little to do with the carpet/color/pad and everything to do with either a lack of transparency, or a lack of expertise from this duo at Carefree. The day the carpet was installed I came home from work exhausted from a 12 hour day; I fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the night sick as a dog from noxious carpet fumes. I opened all windows and doors which helped. This went on for days. I asked first one and then the other member of this duo what the fumes were from and whether or not they were harmful. I was told by both members of the duo that Carefree had never gotten any feedback from anyone about a smell (?!) I asked both to come to my home and smell for themselves. Neither of the duo came out. I never really did get straight answers from either of this Carefree duo. One showed his frustration with my questions. And since the smell was obvious and since I was definitely reacting to it I did my own research. I finally got answers to my questions about the off-gassing of chemicals used during the manufacture of carpeting after installation. If I had been informed, if I had known, I could have asked that the carpet be unrolled at the warehouse for off-gassing. Alternatively, if I had been informed, if I had known, as I learned in my research, I could have used an air purifier with a carbon filter which would have helped. My experience with this duo was Not Carefree. I would have appreciated straightforward info on the front end and straightforward answers to my questions and concerns after installation. I am finding it hard to believe that someone who declares that he has been in the carpet business for decades doesn't know about the off-gassing of chemicals - even with the 'green' label carpets (which I'm understanding still off-gas chemicals, just fewer of them). I was definitely reacting to one or a combination of those chemicals... There was No Care or Concern from this duo about that, thus my rating of "1".

In response to your recent review, we want to say how sorry we are for the lack of satisfaction with your recent carpet experience. We have always prided ourselves in addressing the needs of the customer and providing them with what they need and not trying to sell them on products or features that they don't need. We certainly tried to address concerns and satisfy the needs of the transaction. We are very surprised by your review based on your notes and comments. When we received your email dated September 17, 2020 stating "Good news - The smell is less pronounced today, seems to be going away", we truly felt we had a satisfied customer. The same email reported that the cost of repairing the damage to the wall was $25. You were asked to deduct the cost of repair from your initial quote. Once again, we thought we had satisfied the needs of the transaction. Perception is reality, and we are sorry for your feelings. We truly thought we had done everything, offered industry information, and addressed your questions and concerns the best way possible.

I cannot recommend Carefree, and specifically Haley, enough. Moving into a new house that needs work is so stressful but this was the easiest project we've done so far. She is professional, knowledgeable, timely and just a pleasure to work with. She helped me narrow down carpet choices, had samples sent immediately and then talked through the choices with me. The finished product is amazing and we get so many compliments!

I am delighted with my new carpet. David and Sheila were very helpful in the selection process and the three installers were on time, pleasant and efficient. They did a great job and I couldn't be happier.

We scheduled an appointment with Robert because he was recommended by our builder. After several calls and messages we left on his VM, he returned our call (30 min late) sounding apathetic to missing the appointment. Needless to say we decided not to conduct business with them and go elsewhere. Lack of professional courtesy tells us that we cannot rely on them to deliver. Thanks, but no thanks.

Carefree Carpets and Floors is my go to for both my work and personal projects. From carpets and flooring to custom area rugs, Robert and his team of professionals always come through with beautiful and well installed flooring. They have a great selection of choices from high end to budget flooring and my clients and I are always impressed by choices and pricing. As an interior designer I know Carefree will be my choice for flooring and installation projects.

It was a pleasure working with Robert and the staff at Carefree Carpets. They have completed numerous carpet projects in my home and we have been highly satisfied with all of them. Their showroom Is stocked with a large variety of carpet samples that made the selection process extremely easy. I was also very impressed with the crews that came to lay the carpet. They were very professional in their attitude and knowledgeable about the carpet and the carpet laying process. I highly recommend them.

Our experience with Carefree Carpets & Floors was exceptional! Robert Coover was always available to communicate, the Shaw engineered hardwoods are top quality and beautiful, the installation was painless and professional (as was clean up). We felt our satisfaction was top priority for Carefree Carpets and Leo & his installation crew. They succeeded! We couldn't be more pleased. 5 stars! A+

We hired Robert Coover and Carefree Carpets to restain our downstairs hardwood floors and install new flooring in the upstairs of our new home. We were clear from the onset that we needed this project complete by a certain date in order for other work to be completed before we moved into our new house. He promised the floor would be done by the specified time but instead delivered delays and excuses, along with 2 full days of no crews onsite without telling us beforehand (we have a security code to monitor entrance/exit). Most troubling, however, is the condition in which he left our new home upon "completion" of his job. The stairs were an absolute mess - stain everywhere. There was also stain on our doors, trim, even refrigerator door, throughout the home. The trim they installed on the floor had raw edges - no paint - and several pieces of the trim were not flush against the wall. All of this is documented in the attached photos. Nowhere in the contract, nor in his email or in person conversations with us did he specify that we would need to hire painters to clean up after him. We were not planning on hiring painters to paint our trim work, which is incredibly costly, and if we knew his team would do such a sloppy job, we never would have hired him.

I was visiting my parents in Charlotte for Thanksgiving. Dad wanted to install new carpet throughout the house and that meant everything except furniture needed to be removed from all the rooms. My parents are older now and wanted my help while I was in town. The salesman from Empire Today came a few days before Thanksgiving to give an estimate. My parents chose a carpet, signed a contract, paid a deposit and decided on a date for installation. All seemed well. It was raining on the day of the installation date and the installers canceled. The driveway would be needed to cut the carpet but it was all wet and the garage was not an option. We attempted to reschedule but the dates would not work before I needed to return home. There was a limited window of time due to rain and my parents are not available on Saturdays. We had torn the house apart and moved everything out of the way and my parents needed me to help them put everything back. Based on a gut feeling, I decided to do a little research and discovered terrible reviews for that carpet company both on Yelp and the BBB. I started to look around for another company and discovered Carefree Carpets & Floors. One of their reviewers stated that he needed carpets installed "yesterday" and David helped him get it done. That is exactly what we needed as well. I contacted the company, left a message with David and told him that we were in a pickle. In the meantime, we disputed the charges on the credit card then called to cancel the carpet. The hinky thing Empire did was have my dad sign a digital contract. That "contract" was on a tablet device. ONLY certain parts of the contract were visible. My dad had NO IDEA what he was signing. Empire FedEx's the entire contract to him the next day. Dad never had the chance to read it all before signing. David called me back and we arranged for him to come out to the house about 2 hours later to measure the house and look at samples. We also discovered the option of a better quality moisture resistant padding (for the living room) chose a carpet, paid a deposit and booked a date for installation. David managed to get the carpet in two days, which by the way was the only time it wasn't supposed to rain in the next 2 weeks. A lovely crew of 5 guys did a beautiful job and was out of the house in 6 hours!! All together were 8 areas., 2 large/2 small bedrooms, hallway, stairs, living room and an office. These guys were no joke! They came in, moved all the furniture out of the way and had all the old carpet pulled in 2 hours!!! After the carpet was installed they put all the furniture back in the right places. David even came out to the job to check on things. The carpet is a better quality, looks perfect and appears seamless. My family felt soooooo much better after meeting David. They could tell a difference because David was honest and the Empire representative was not. David's integrity was evident after just talking to him for a few minutes. He told me he would get this done, in the window of time available and he did. David a sincere, down to earth man., he just talks with you. No fakery, no stories about commissions, no lies. He bent over backwards to help my parents and we are so pleased with the results because he honored his word and came through like he said he would. David is a now considered a friend of the family. Everything worked out perfectly and we all agreed that we had a little help from above because of the way things went so smoothly. Thank you again David for all of your help, my apologies for taking so long to write this review.

These guys know their stuff. We first walked in and dealt with Dave who was fantastic. No pressure, no trying to sell us on any one product. He was knowledgeable and very laid back. He even came out to do an estimate that very same day right after he got off from work. Of the competition we had come out, Carefree not only offered comparable products, but also came in under all other estimates. The installers, Clint and Brandon were phenomenal. These guys, a couple of brothers, are down to earth and very skilled at what they do. They know their trade and it shows. They were in and out in two days, kept the place really clean, and even agreed to meet our dog so that it would put him at ease (the dog that is). The outcome is amazing! My wife and I couldn't be happier with the whole process. Our floors look fantastic and we can't help but to keep looking down. If ever we need any more floors done in our home, you better believe we'll be calling Carefree without a doubt. No need to shop around anymore after dealing with these guys.
