Will never use again. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 was because the very small carpet install was decent. Had them out to refinish hardwoods. Was supposed to start on Monday, got pushed back to Tuesday. Not a huge deal. Waited all day on Tuesday. Contractor called saying he wouldn't be there until 2pm. Didn't show. We waited and then called him at 3:30. He then said 5pm. At 6pm he still wasn't here so we called him again. He said he was on his way and we should leave the house open for him. Um no. A different crew finally started on Wednesday, but each team (sanding, staining, poly) had no idea what the other team of people was doing and when. They rushed the job to finish on time on Friday, but there were mistakes everywhere -- finishings that were promised not done, parts of the floor they missed with the poly, and obvious scuff marks under the poly that they had to come back and refinish. We waited 2 weeks to fix it bc the manager said he wanted to be here when the work was done. Day of the work, no one called to tell us when they would be here, so I called the customer line and they had no idea what's happening. Eventually, the contractor just shows up mid-day, without the manager who promised to be here. Thankfully I was still at home. I try to discuss what happened (granted, I was upset) and the contractor said none of it was his fault and he wasn't going to discuss it with me. I'm absolutely done with this company and do not recommend them to anyone who needs flooring.

BED BUGS FOUND AFTER CARPET WAS LAID. Our sales person, ***** from McSwain was wonderful to work with. He was knowledgeable and very patient with us during the decision making process. However, the installation was less than great. Five days after our carpet was put in we found a bed bug crawling around on it. This was confirmed by an exterminator. We had to turn our house upside down, cleaning and checking everything. A second one was found on the laid carpet and a third in the rolled up extra carpet in the basement. None were found anywhere else. All of our own furniture was bed bug free. The exterminator also searched the house when they were here treating for the bed bugs and confirmed this information, making them and myself think that they were recently brought in. I emailed and called McSwain about the issue. They denied everything and stated they found none in the van used to bring the carpet here and when they asked the carpet layers they stated they did not have bed bugs. This was not good enough for me. We spent a week cleaning and putting everything we own in the dryer to kill any potential bed bugs that *** have reached other areas of our house. I requested they check the facility where they store the carpet and possibly with the manufacturer to see if there was an infestation in either place. The manager, *** I think, stated he would check and call me back. I called 2 business days later (4 days total) and left a message requesting a call back and it is now one week from the original call and I havent heard anything back. I am disgusted and very disappointed in the customer service received after this incident. We spent well over $15,000 on our carpet. I would expect better service than this. I would NOT recommend using McSwain.

We thank you and value your business. Our Senior Director of Installation has spoken to you a couple of times. We do apologize that you were not contacted back as promised. You spoke to him this morning, 8/8/22, and he apologized to you as well that he was out unexpectedly due to a health issue. At that point another member of management should have contacted you. We have set in place a new procedure to ensure that this does not happen in the future. After the first time that you spoke to *** he did have discussions with the installation crew and searched their van and no sign of bed bugs were found. Since you specially ordered carpet, the carpet was shipped to us directly from the manufacturer and has not been sitting in our warehouse. Carpet is produced using high levels of heat, then wrapped in plastic, placed on a truck and shipped to us. We have spoken with the manufacturer and transportation company and none have had issues either. Again, we are very sorry that our level of service was not exceptional. We do apologize and will strive for excellence in the future.

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with McSwain and will never have them or an Armstrong floor in our house again. Be forewarned, neither company will stand behind their flooring and the "lifetime warranty" they sell you is meaningless.We purchased an Armstrong vinyl plank floor (A6899 Luxe Plank) from them for our kitchen (approx. 7 years ago). It was supposed to be their top-of-the-line floor and was sold with a lifetime warranty.We recently started a remodel of the kitchen with plans to keep the flooring in place. However, during construction, our contractor noticed that the vinyl planks were separating at the joints. We called McSwain, who in turn sent someone to the house (Paul I believe) and he was extremely rude and condescending. He basically said our issue was "an environmental" issue and they would not honor the warranty claim.With this news we opened a claim with Armstrong in the hopes that they would stand behind their product. Fast forward 5 months later and today they rejected the claim stating, " the issue you are having with your flooring is not a warranted issue". No other information provided.Our kitchen is no different from any other kitchen, so their excuse of it being an "environmental" issue does not hold water. Especially given that they can't/won't explain what that even means.Steer clear of both McSwain's and Armstrong!

Where do I start? 98 DAYS, yes NINETY EIGHT DAYS to install flooring in a family room an office, stain a hallway and carpet on basement steps. The cost $9,424.50, $5000.00 up front cash, the balance $4,424.50 to get the job done. Yes it was all paid. What was McSwain doing with that money? 98 DAYS! Is this the Gold Standard the A+ rating McSwain rates and raves about. Or did McSwain take advantage of 80 year old seniors. OH **** what do these old people know. Maybe - really did McSwain sell us products McSwain did not have? 98 DAYS. The Gold Standard: Customer Service: A total lack of communications. Code of Conduct: On 21 March 2022 a McSwain manager called and insinuated my wife was fabricating the truth, really! and McSwain was only 1 day behind schedule. 98 DAYS. McSwain and management are as slick as snot on a door knob. Seniors be careful & cautious where you spend your money.

We had narrowed our carpet purchase down to Home Depot and Hometown Flooring. However, we decided to try McSwains in Mason as well. After spending some time with the sales agent,, we gave the nod to McSwains. One point that he made, that I thought was valid, was that HD did not use experienced installers and they had issues with leaving visible seams and that installs looked like those you might see when lower grade carpet is used in a “flipped” house (I’ve had some experience with that).Well, guess what, we have very visible seams, they neglected to cut a vent hole in the carpet (and hung the vent on a Robert Bateman framed print) and, the installers damaged an antique chest (and used a pillow sham and lamp to hide it), and a REAL Tiffany lamp. When I called the sales agent, he was able to get a manager to respond quickly. The manager came out, was apologetic and acknowledged it was less than perfect installation and apologized for the damage. As a side bar, they also left many deep gouges in our freshly painted walls, in every room…and we were told that was to be expected.Fast forward two weeks, nothing has been done and now there’s no response from the sales agent after multiple attempts.McSwains, believe me when I say, if you don’t resolve these issue, we can and WILL do it ver publicly in court!If you Google McSwains, tap the Sharonville HQ and then “Pictures.”!ive posted a few.

Dan from the Dayton location was absolutely wonderful. We were frustrated with other places we had been and the minute we walked into McSwain Dan answered our questions quickly but his knowledge of the products was most helpful. Few little issues with installation but when I contacted Dan he took care of it immediately. We purchased luxury vinyl which was on sale and carpeting as well. We were very happy once it was completed.

At this point, if I had the option of posting a quarter star, I would. We had carpet from McSwain Carpet on September 13th, 2021. There was a measurement mistake made and also a color contrast in part of the carpet from the factory. I understand these things happen. It is now the 29th of October 2021, and I have no resolution and have had zero, and I mean zero, communication from McSwain Carpet except when my wife or I have initiated the phone call or stopping in to the location from which we ordered the carpet. I have met with the salesman in person at least 3 times, spoken to him on the phone a couple of times and my wife has called the scheduling lady over a handful of times. Every time I'm promised a call back.....nothing. So we call again, get told the same thing...."I'm looking into it, or I'll call the person handling your claim" and get ZERO answers or immediate call backs. I have asked to speak to the person in charge of all these employees (a lady in charge of ***************** and have been told she most likely won't reach out to me because it doesn't work that way. That was 2 weeks ago. Zero response. Spoke to my salesman again today (October 29th, 2021) who said he would check into this and then stated it most likely wouldn't be until tomorrow before he would call me back but "may not have an answer by then". This is totally unacceptable, much less inconvenient and frustrating to the next level. I have furniture in my basement I will not bring up to my second floor so I can bring it back down when the carpet finally (hopefully) gets installed. I would like to have the President of McSwain Carpet and Floors call me and explain why this allowed to go on this long. The salesman at the Centerville location knows how I can be reached. Unbelievable!!

Our process at that point in time is to open claim with the manufacturer. Once that was settled we ordered the new material. We received the material from the manufacturer late on 10/29/21 and you should have received a call on 11/1/21 to schedule the installation. I ordered laminate on March 31, 2021. I have to put my house on the market on April 25. We have to move to a one floor assistant living cottage. I signed the contract today. If I can’t get the flooring installed I will not be able to show my house. I am told that the sales person has no control over when the trim will come in. He has nothing to do with installation dates. I was told that he has many customers. On March 31 I signed a contract with Mc Swain and put $2500.00 down. I am told that the laminate is in and they are waiting for the trim. I am glad that they have a good business but they need to hire more people and limit the number of contracts one sales person takes. It sounds to me like he is overwhelmed.

We just had laminate planks installed in our lower level from the North Dayton location. First, our sales person, Dennis was wonderful! He was very helpful, personable, knowledgeable, and PATIENT with our million and one questions! The timeline was spot on; 2 weeks for the material to arrive and another 2 weeks for installation. Second, the two men who installed our flooring, unfortunately I don't have their names, did an OUTSTANDING JOB! They were also very professional and knowledgeable and FAST! The installers do good work but the company as a whole has been DREADFUL to work with. First, we were told they were scheduling 2 weeks out which turned into a month. Throughout the process of deciding on the floors we had the sales person telling us one thing and someone else telling us another as far as the best way to execute the floor installation itself. This back and forth continued until the day of installation... During the process we never received an updated invoice... explaining what we should expect to pay based on any changes/decisions that were made despite asking multiple times. Fast forward to today: most of the floors are done with the exception of a runner on our basement stairs... which for whatever reason couldn't be done with the rest of the installation. 🙄 The installer shows up and is super confused because he cant even do his job with the "runner" that was left for him to install because it isn't even sized correctly for our stairs... so... from 2 weeks out to... roughly 6? weeks and the job isn't completed. 100% do not recommend. Oh and we still don't have an updated invoice. 🤦♀️ See More

I had carpet partially installed on November 2nd, they measure wrong so didn't have enough carpet to finish my family room and masters closet. Installers left tack strip uncovered and I have kids at home! I have been trying to reach out to a manager since last Friday and no one has contacted me yet. No I do not recommend this company it seems like they only want to sell once they do it's a pain to get in contact with them.

My carpet is falling apart in under 6 months. They scratched up my brand new floors and freshly painted walls and doorways. No follow up from the guy that promised to call me back. They closed my complaint with no resolution.

Like many contractors these days, they did a great job on 95% of the work, but fell short in the end. Because of their own shortfall in communication between their salesman and their tradesmen, I am left to finish the job on my own. I tried to get a resolution with the salesman (Marvin Cohen) but all he did was point the finger at someone else, promise to get it done, and then disappear. Its not the end of the world and I can certainly finish the job myself, but it's one more sad example of a "C" job that could have easily been an A+. I hope someone from management contacts me.

I recently had Mcswain Carpets add hardwood and refinish my floors. Jason Shuster went out of his way to answer questions and over see my project. My hardwood floors came out beautiful! Great outcome I highly recommend.

I am so frustrated with McSwain. I bought top of the line carpet 12 years ago for my living and dining room. We rarely go in these two rooms. In the last two years I have noticed wide (12 inch) pink stripes on the off white carpet. The company that cleans my carpet said it is a manufacturing defect. The owner of that company came to my home to verify that. He recommended we call McSwain. He said they are very good about replacing carpet if there are issues. Well how wr...ong he was. Essentially they came took pictures and then told me I needed to produce 12 years of carpet cleaning receipts. Are you kidding me? I explained to them that I have my carpets cleaned by my friend who owns a carpet cleaning business. We pay cash, no paperwork. Even though the defect has nothing to do with cleaning, they will do nothing for you unless you have receipts for a cleaning every 12 to 18 months. On a previous call they said well let us talk to the manufacturer. Of course they never followed up with me. I had to call them again to have them repeatedly tell me if I do not have receipts there was nothing they could do for me. If you read the warranty on the website it says nothing about cleaning receipts. They told me it is the warranty they gave me when I bought the carpet 12 years ago. I don’t even know if they gave me a warranty. So now they have given me a number for the manufacturer. Now I have to pursue them. Great customer service McSwain. I will not be buying any more flooring from you and will be telling everyone I know to do the same! See More

You bought flooring 12 years ago and you are trying to get it replaced because now all of the sudden you see something wrong with it? Are you kidding me? Maybe you should consider taking back those shoes you bought 12 years ago since they do not look the same as the day you purchased them.In all honesty you are lucky they even spoke with you.Most flooring stores would of told you to get lost.Try that at Home Depot or Lowes after having their carpet on your floor after 12 years and see how far you get.

In our living room, the seam was so noticeable, I had them come back to fix it. It still looks horrible. 3 bedrooms had to be replaced because the carpet had a default in it. They came back with the new carpet but the master bedroom was cut incorrect. Had to reschedule again. We have had more problems with this company. We do NOT recommend McSwain carpet. I wrote a letter to Mr. McSwain to make him aware of our issues. he NEVER contacted me. Wow, never expected this type of service.

Sales staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was refused product because it was looked at and style picked out at a different McSwain store. I was treated very unprofessionally and literally turned away and refused product. The salesman said it's their policy not to undercut another store or salesman on a sale. $3000 worth of carpet and padding for 1 room and they refused the sale... Very unbecoming of a retail business. Shop elsewhere. Update 1 - I was called by dis...trict sales mgr. Tom Wood. He made a bunch of excuses for why the store couldn't sell me the product. (licensing, outlet store, stock, etc...) He offered no real solution to the problem other than he would talk to the employees and use it as a "Learning Lesson" He then went on to tell me that he contacted both the store my customer found the sample at as well as the store who had refused me service before calling me. He had obviously formed an opinion before contacting the complainant! After this he told me the location in which my customer found the sample had called the customer to discuss the issue. Problem is that I am the contractor and the one paying for the material and requesting their services. As soon as I referenced it being unnecessary and unprofessional to call my customer (Tortious Interference) he immediately said "It was not unprofessional. I think we are done here. Edit after original review: I was contacted by the company and they worked to move up dates and compensate for added costs incurred. I would use them again in the future. The installer was very knowledgeable and the flooring looks great.I appreciate the quick response and willingness to make it right.Dates keep getting pushed back and have had to spend money on a hotel because there are no floors in my parents condo. Now the installation date is more than 2 weeks after it was supposed to be. Management is not helpful and the sales person is just a good talker...never use this company.

This company has decent prices but customer service is an absolute joke! You pay half up front (pretty normal) but there is no follow up with customers. When I followed up with them 4 days after I was suppose to be contacted they told me my carpet had been in for Almost a week and no one contacted us and they couldn’t install for two more weeks after we already waited a month for the carpet to even come in. Clearly once you pay them half they could care less about your needs as a customer!

Had a great experience with Lee Jones at the Beechmont location! I called to get some flooring repaired as I had guests coming from out of town and my dog decided to destroy some carpet days before. Lee went above and beyond to get someone out to my home for a quick repair. This is what customer service is all about! Thank you Lee! Highly recommend the Beechmont location.

Unfortunately, everything about the experience with McSwain's has been bad. The individual that came out to measure didn't at all want to itemize the invoice for some reason and got defensive when I asked for clarification, the installation individuals showed up in a dilapidated van that leaked oil onto my driveway, the carpet and installers smelled like smoke and now my entire house reeks, it was also not communicated that I would need to go out to said van to validate carpet prior to them bringing it into my home so I was in bare feet in freezing temperatures having to go to a weird van. I do not recommend them in the least.

We used McSwain 2 years ago only to receive great service. This time it is taking weeks to get the tile and carpeting in. Today they were finally suppose to come out and lay the tile. We have waited all day for the contractors only to have a no show day. No show no call. I tried to call the location the purchase was made from. I was rudely forwarded to a machine. Have I mentioned we bought some of the best carpet they sell. It doesn't last any longer than any other carpet and stains terribly. Way to go McSwain.

Great Installers; Average Sales Consultants
"We had a complete redo in the house. The installers that came to do the wood floors, and those that did the carpet, were professional and the results are excellent. We felt as though the sales consultant did not provide full details that she should have known about our house and the flooring - as a result, we have extra costs that were not planned for, known and should have been a part of the overall job that we paid for. If I were to do this again, I would probably look at other companies and compete - I went with McSwain only based on word-of-mouth."

Hardwood Flooring
"Since our remodeling project was delayed by a bad run of hardwood being sent with installation crew, I can't give a super rating. The flooring delay held up the kitchen remodel. It would have been a better result if someone at the buying/planning stage, other than the installer, told us that our baseboard would not work. To allow room for expansion of wood we had to pay more for a molding that doesn't match our original baseboard. That installation took another 2 weeks to schedule, even though the molding was stained and ready to install a few days after hardwood installation. Flooring looks nice, but delays were stressful! Project needed more attention from a project coordinator at planning stage. Also, manufacturer of flooring needed better quality control."

Not totally satisfied
I as salesman to give me the same quality carpet I bought last time and I do not believe that is what I received. I'm adding picture of old and new carpet. Old carpet looks like much better quality than the new.

Excellent Experience
Our wood flooring was installed towards the end of August. The installers did an exceptional job! Boards were placed with skill and clean up was done every day before leaving. We had 900 square feet of flooring installed---which was not a small job! We went through Costco saving us some money. Since we have two dogs we really wanted something to withstand the paw prints and not show dog hair! This did the trick!! I absolutely love it!!

McSwain didn't send enough carpet for the job.
"McSwain didn't send enough carpet for the job. Without listening to my explanation of the situation, the salesman immediately blamed my measurements-which were correct. Wanting quality product, I paid more than twice what I could have found elsewhere. We had to empty our room twice to have the carpet installed correctly. The finished installation is ""ok""; but, not what I would have expected from McSwain. The inital installers re-used the existing nail strips- which was fine. But, they began laying the new padding without cleaning the room perimeter. I had to stop them to vacuum around the existing nail strips. I won't shop McSwain again."

Great Shopping Experience; Bad installation
"We were scheduled for install on a Monday. When the installers arrived, they only had the carpet for our stairs, not the full upstairs. It took them 4 hours to return and ended up only installing one room that day. They came back the next day (so my husband had to miss work again) with only one person. A second person did not arrive until after 4pm. They worked from 9am-past 6:30pm, making us late for dinner reservations. I was very happy working with Joe, our salesperson, but our installation experience left a bad taste."

"After 26 years, we decided to sell our home of 25 years. As you might expect the carpet needed to be replaced after all those years, with two adults, two dogs, and two kids calling the place home. The representative visited our home. provided carpet samples and gave a complete estimate of the work involved and the cost. Once the new carpet was in stock, they came out and did a perfect job in the 1 1/2 days they had promised. Oh yeah, the house sold after two days on the market. I'm thinking the new stain-master carpet may have had something to do with that."

"I was advised that replacing carpeting in the three bedrooms, closets , great room and on the steps to the basement would require two days. What a surprise when the installers finished the installation by about 2:45 p.m. on the first day! They arrived at 7:30 a.m., took a look at all the areas they were replacing, grabbed their tools from the truth and went to work immediately. Excellent work!"

Installation nightmare
"Bought my carpet & laminate there 15+ yrs ago & decided to go back this time for wood floor & carpet again. Good product selection, presentation & knowledgeable salesperson. Cherie helped with selection process, applying coupon, measuring & purchase process. Always available when needed. Installation was so disappointing & stressful. 3day scheduled for wood installation took almost 2 weeks. Installers averaged 4 work hrs per day-- Should have been done in 4 days allowing for leveling of dining room floor. After finally done we found trim not attached & glue leakage. Had to return to fix. Carpet scheduled one day but didn't bring pad -- had to reschedule. Carpet installers did stay until job complete -- 14 1/2 hrs! They did good job. All floors look beautiful now but it was very stressful during installation. Our salesperson has been very nice to work with & I highly recommend her & the carpet layers. Wood installers do a nice job but don't work a full day. Job took way too long!!!!"

Installation was prompt and highly competent; the installers were extremely polite and handled our large furniture with care when they moved it. So far, so good with the carpet."

Quality carpet - very poorinstallation experience
"I'm shocked to receive a request for feedback but assume this is an automated system. Simply said, we didn't have a very good experience with McSwain - despite their excellent reputation. Initially we felt great - our salesperson was extremely helpful and not pushy. Unfortunately he left McSwain shortly after our purchase (and prior to installation which was a disaster). It took a full month to get our carpet installed and my credit card was charged on day one of the installation! The first crew of sub-contractors came and installed our carpet while our house was vacant (prior to us moving in). When we got access to the house I learned that the stairways up and down were not installed (the old carpet was still there). When I called to talk to a service person, he indicated that the installer marked the job complete. He said he would look into it and call me back. I never received a call back. A couple days later, I called again, re-explained my situation to a new service agent, and she set up a date for the stairs to be completed. When the new crew came to do the stairs, they discovered that they didn't have enough carpet. So they left and never came back. I called the following day asking for an update and the original service person I spoke to said that they needed three weeks to get new carpet. I said I wanted to talk to someone about getting this escalated and the customer service agent pointed me to my sales person at the store. That's right, customer service told me to escalate my issue through my sales person! I explained my sales person isn't with McSwain any longer and he directed me to the store manager (again, this is customer service directing me to drive to the store to escalate the issue with my installation). Instead, I was able do some Google sleuthing to find an e-mail address of a senior executive with McSwain and he immediately responded and tried to help us through the process. He apologized and I believe it was sincere but the issues continued. One week later the second crew came back to finish the stairs only to learn that the carpet wasn't bound. They left again and a couple hours later they returned. We had some concerns with the installation on our second floor but this crew refused to address them because they didn't install the second floor. They said I would need to call McSwain - back to the phone! As they completed the stairs the installer damaged a riser and said he would mark it on his report and someone from McSwain would contact me (which has yet to be addressed and probably won't unless I call again). Throughout this, there was no proactive communication from McSwain except for the senior executive who responded promptly to my emails. I am giving McSwain two stars (instead of one) because the quality of the carpet is nice and - other than the damaged riser - we are finally enjoying it."

He worked with my schedule throughout the entire process and worked hard to get me exactly what I wanted. Carpet Installers Efficient but other Issues.
"Installation June 1 -2 done efficiently. Color just what I wanted. Little left over so the sales person measured well. I thought after spending this amount of money I would get a call from the sales person asking about my satisfaction but that did not happen. I was going to carpet 3 additional rooms at the same time but had not settled on the exact color for these rooms. Cheri, sales person, said to just do this amount and the rest later as there would be no place to put the furniture they had to move. Not true as they just move furniture to one adjoining room then to the next. Cheri said they would move my grandfather clock no problem. Not true as they never ever move them. After calling home office they had me signed a waiver and then they did move it. I have sleep number beds and they did not function when they left. I paid $75 more because I had these and I would have expected them to function correctly when they were done. I am not a young person and crawling under the bed trying to fix this issue was no fun."

Hardwood floor install
"Called Mcswain for an estimate because they were running an ad in the paper for 30-40% off for anniversary sale. I was told ""my hardwood was not included in the sale"". There was nothing in the ad that declared that prices only applied to certain items. My floor was in stock, no special order necessary. That is why I gave them a four. They use sub-contractors for installation. Ours did a great job. We love the floor! They came out 2 times for a threshold problem. Courteous and efficient both times."

"My 89 year old Dad had McSwain's install new flooring in his home recently. My sister and I were impressed with the product and workmanship. McSwain's, in Centerville, had been passed many times during area travel, but unfamiliar to me. My master bedroom and bath flooring was in need of replacement and I selected McSwain's. Store and product assistant, Cherie, scored an A+! She is very knowledgeable; prompt and goes out of her way to accommodate the consumer. The two installer's really impressed me in professionalism and work ethics. Other than a 30 minute lunch break, they worked steadily; competently and attentively. All that was left for me to do...admire!"

The service men were very polite.
"When I had my floor put in I have a hump in the area between the kitchen and the foyer. Also around my fireplace in my family room there are at least 5 to 7 snags in the carpet which were done by the tool that was used to apply the carpet around the stone. This was reported and I was told when it was put in that someone would be out to take care of, but that never happened.( BAD BUSINESS)"

Results good but not a smooth process
"We have used McSwain a couple times before to refinish existing hardwood floors which went great, but this was the first time for a full new floor installation (hardwood in dining room). The experience started out well, we were very satisifed with the sales and install portion of the job. The guy that installed the new hardwood was amazing, he laid down plastic to walk on so he didn't get our carpet dirty, and he cleaned up when he was done. However, when it came to the staining portion of the job, it was a headache. The first guy that came to do the stain did not call before showing up, and the carpet in the livingroom had not been tucked yet (which needs done before the stain is applied). So the stain guy had to leave and we called McSwain to send the guy to tuck the carpet. Then the new stain did not match the kitchen. We knew it would not match perfectly and expected that, but this was not even close. So we called and said we wanted it restained. McSwain sent someone back out to sand the floor but we had to ask the crew to put up plastic sheets to keep the dust from getting everywhere. and we had to vacuum the floor after they left. This elongated the process and I had to take more time off work. Anyway they sent a much more experienced guy out and he checked with me on the stain and we agreed on a good match. His crew had a sander with a built-in vacuum that sucked up the dust which was good. Things were looking better again. Then they applied the new stain, but they got stain all over the baseboards which my wife had just painted. We asked in advance for the crews to tape off the baseboards, but we were told the stain would not splash up high enough to see it above the toestrips once they were installed. But that was not the case at all, we had to sand and repaint all the baseboards. The crew also spilled stain on our carpet, they basically got it all out but it was just another headache to deal with. After the job was finally done, there many bubbles found in the stain, and a week later I found a rigid raised line of dried stain where the new dining room wood met the kitchen wood, from where the kitchen floor was taped off. Overall the end result was good and the floor looks great now, but too many mistakes were made and not enough professionalism was employed. We had to step in and make sure the different steps to the process were being done in the correct order, all the people who do stain work should be trained at the same level and yield the same quality work, all crews should lay down plastic on the floor and tape it to the walls to keep other rooms clean while working, and they should tape off baseboards regardless so no stain gets on them. The stain getting on the carpet was an honest accident, I don't blame them for that since you can barely tell anymore. My only other complaint is that while I do not expect these guys to show up looking spotless, I found the lack of a uniform and sloppy appearance of some of the countless representatives that came to our house a little out of place. However, some of the other guys did have a uniform or at least a neat kempt appearance. So yes we are certainly satisfied with the end result, but will probably use someone else next time. The floor looks good, but overall the value we received on this purchase was not great as we were never refunded any cost for our many troubles. For what we paid, I feel McSwain should have taken better care of us and our house. As for the rating on satisfaction with installation process, I rated that average for obvious reasons."

Great Service and installation
We worked with Aaron Hogan for sales and it worked out very good. It took a little longer to get the ordered carpet in than we thought but everything worked out great. We used Paul Hammonds Carpet Service to install the carpet and it worked out very good. They worked hard and did a very good job.

Not to happy with the installation crew
The salesman were great just installers not so much. I had scratches all over my sons wall from the ground to about 3 foot high from the carpet being on the wall. When they put new tack strips in they hit the base board many times and were gouged pretty badly that i had to replace them.

"I had my floor installed two weeks ago,but I have a spot coming out of my foyer into my kitchen that goes down when you stop on it. Good selection
"Bought at McSwain due to finding a carpet and tile not found elsewhere. Installers did a good job and had to drill, screw and glue the tack strips for installing on fresh poured slab. There was a spot of glue on the carpet that must have been done at the mill that needs to be addressed. Salesperson said their person would contact me about it, but no one has after several weeks"

Terrible Service
"McSwain installed carpet on my basements steps. I was told the sides and ""ears"" would be tucked under and stapled so the steps looked finished. The installer did neither! The sides and ""ears"" of the steps were left unfinished with the cut edges exposed. Contacted McSwain about this and was told we got what we paid for. The cost of installation was as much as the cost of the carpet. Almost a month later and I still have not received further communication from the company about how this is going to be resolved. Will NEVER use this company again."

We typically have gone to Lowes or Home Depot for carpet and installation but we weren't happy with the installation. McSwains installers were awesome. They moved furniture, you can find a seem and the carpet is snug and tight. The carpet and padding are great. We went with the thick padding and it is fantastic.
