5 days ago Do not go to this location! We needed to replace our master bedroom carpet due to an expansion and a remodel. We went to this location and was helped by Ms. Alex Gomez. I was trying to match as close as I could the carpet in the rest of the house. She was friendly, brought many samples to compare and even called the shaw representative for his advice. We decided on one, she took my name, number and all contact info. I was told she would have someone call me in a day or two to come and measure the room. Three days passed and no call. On Monday I called and was told she was gone for the day. I left a verbal message with the operator. No call back. Tuesday I called again and was given her voice mail. No call back. Wed I e-mailed her personally. No call back. If they didn't want my business why not just say so. Go somewhere they want your money and appreciate your business.

2 weeks ago Really not knowing what to say about this place. Good selection, normal in-store customer experience. You might get lucky, walk away with an order delivered in full on time. Unfortunately for us, it was a disaster. To put it plainly, the store exhibited deception, no integrity and absolute lack of professionalism. I understand this is only a retail outlet and they need to rely on manufacturers and wholesalers. Things do get out of hand and they need to face factors that are out of their control. I guess we faced one of those disastrous conditions. All they had to do was to be upfront, transparent and be communicative as they worked through the problem. Instead, they lied, threw out false expectations and in the end said no apology. Not even an offer to mend the poor retail experience. There are many flooring companies. Unless you are desperate, West Coast Flooring does not have to be your first visit/choice

last month We purchased our floors through West Coast Flooring and are so happy with our new floors!! Woody came recommended by a friend and he was super great in customer service! After searching for floors throughout our home, and not finding(or knowing) quite what we were looking for, Woody made a suggestion about some flooring he knew about and showed it to us on line! Well, that was it! we LOVED it! He came out and measured, we purchased, and delivery and instal was a breeze! We get so many compliments on our floors! Thanks again Woody and WC Flooring Center!

2 months ago We have had Westcoast do 2 homes for us. They just completed a demo and laying new wood plank French oak in my current home. Everything was done with attention to detail. Their pricing is amazing...their knowledge of product outstanding...Isaac and Shane worked with us. The installers were on time, polite and responsive to our questions and concerns. Don't bother shopping anywhere else for flooring!

3 months ago We had West Coast flooring install oak engineered wood throughout most of our home. I got 3 estimates and they came in at the best price and I am extremely happy with the results. Finished on budget in a shorter time frame than anticipated! Plus they had to remove a ton of porcelain tile which was a difficult job. I would highly recommend them for all your flooring needs and as a Realtor I am very picky on who I refer out to my clients and happy to refer West Coast Flooring!

4 months ago Worst company customer service and ethics I have ever dealt with. Delivered the wrong wood three times. The installers were sloppy and damaged some personal property as well as some structural damage of which they denied. They did not use the proper amount of glue we pre-paid for required by manufacturer for warranty. So we had hallow spots everywhere. The transitions to tile were not done correctly, and too any other issues. Called the manager, Shane, numerous times to complain during the install process, but nothing was ever done. After the install we would not pay the balance. After constant complaints, calls, and letters they sent out an inspector that said the floors were installed wrong and needed to be redone. Still they did not agree, and over the next four or five months they sent 2 others to inspect the floors. All said the floors were not installed properly and needed to be redone. Then they agreed to redo, but were going to send out unlicensed people so we said no. They also did not agree to all damages their installers did. After 6 plus months of no resolve we had to consult an attorney. We finally got most of our money back! Use them at your own risk! They do not stand behind their work in a professional and logically way. The customer does not come first!

4 months ago I wanted to give this place my business. I really tried- probably harder than I should have. 3 times I contacted them, and 3 times they didn't call me back. I gave up. I stopped in on a whim, as I had seen them from the freeway. I just bought a house and was looking fr some new carpet and possibly hardwood flooring. I had an idea of what I wanted and perused around the store for a little while looking at samples. I asked at the front desk if I could have someone measure my place so I could get an estimate for installation. I gave her all my contact info and she said a sales person would contact me in a couple hours to set an appointment (after lunch). 2 days later I called again and spoke with the installation manager who was very apologetic and promised to have someone reach me. 3 days later I tried a third time. Still no responses. After trying 3 times over the course of a week, my co-worker advised me to stop trying. I'm not sure if they are that incompetent or just don't want my business. Sorry guys, I liked your selection, but if you can't even give me a call, this isn't going to work.
last week Business Owner Robert, we are sorry for your experience, at that time we were moving our corporate location and we did have an adjustment period, but we are back and open in our new corporate location in vista and we would be happy to have another chance to work with you. Once again we are very sorry and never want our customers to have anything but the best experience!

4 months ago After shopping around approximately 7-8 different flooring places, we finally decided to go with West Coast Flooring after a friend of ours recommended it. We worked with Woody, who is honest, friendly and patient. He answered all of our questions, addressed all our concerns, and in the end, provided the most competitive bid. Woody also provided the information we needed in order to get the necessary HOA approval before work could start. The installation went quickly and smoothly, and the installers were friendly and did a great job cleaning up afterwards as well. We were living in a small corner of the home during the install, and the installers made sure to complete the work in a way that minimized the inconvenience to us. Everything was on time and on budget. We are very happy with our completed floors!

4 months ago There was a promotion on Yelp for this flooring store that I had previously bought tile from. I had a slab leak at my home and needed new waterproof flooring. There is this new stuff called vinyl luxury plank, and I went here to check it out. Woody the salesman was great and showed us the huge selection and helped me match my colors. I chose some Coretec plus and am excited to see the finished results. I got to pick a large area rug for no charge because of the promotion. The prices were right in my budget that insurance was giving me. I just had to Yelp about my experience. Ask for Woody on the week-end.

5 months ago I am very disappointed in this company. As a successful contractor for the past 30 years I value and expect good service and more importantly follow thru. Do what you say you are going to do when you say you are going to do it. I came into the San Marcos showroom and spent quite a bit of time looking at flooring and talking with a designer named Isaac. I set an appointment which he arrived late to. I then was promised a quote by the following Thursday. On Friday I had received nothing and so I called in and was promised a quote by end of day. By Monday morning, still no quote so I called one more time and was promised that I would receive the quote. I did receive a quote that was incomplete and only covered part of what we discussed. I called in and spoke with the "manager" Shane on Tuesday who promised he would get the rest of the quote to me by end of the day. Wednesday and still no quote. Called Thursday and spoke to Erika who assured me that Shane would get back to me by the end of the day. Here it is Thursday night and no call & no quote. These people should realize that they are running a business and that follow thru is very important. That my time as a consumer is every bit as important as their time, and that when I give it up so they have an opportunity to further their business follow thru and respect is very important. I was not getting other quotes when I stopped in, but now that they have wasted my time I will not be using them and have to start the process with someone else.
4 months ago Business Owner We pride ourselves on quality flooring and customer service, sorry to hear that you didnt feel you were given this. We will definitely take this feedback and use for future training. Unfortunately, we were not given a product choice by you so we were not able to give you a quote without knowing what you were looking at specifically. Best of luck to you in your flooring search and if there is anything further we can help you with let us know! Thank you

6 months ago It was time to replace the carpet in our house. This was the first time we've ever purchased carpet. In the past, we've replaced carpet with wood or tile, but never carpet. We went to 5 shops to get different insights. We decided to work with Woody at West Coast. It wasn't easy for us to make up our mind on the carpet. We brought home more than 20 different sample boards. Then we ordered more than a dozen carpet samples. We lived with each sample for a week, seeing how the light in each room affected the color. Then there was the texture. That was a whole other challenge for us. And there was pattern to consider. It's really quite daunting. Woody was patient and kind and persistent with us. Ordering sample after sample, and coaching us to give this decision the due diligence it deserves. After all, we'll likely live with it for a decade or two. He encouraged us to consider every option we were attracted to. All the work paid off. After a couple of months, we made a selection. Woody gave us a great price. The West Coast team did a great installation. And, we love it.

6 months ago Shopping around for flooring can be a very tiring endeavor. Working with family to choose flooring is a chore. I'm very glad we visited this store. Woody helped us upon our first visit, and gave us his honest thoughts about the type of flooring we were looking for and wanted. Woody came out to measure and was excellent giving us a great quote that adhered to what we were looking for. All along the way there was no sales pressure. Woody and the store staff were very professional and helpful. I really like the service, selection, and pricing here!

7 months ago We needed new wood floors for our house and decided on West Coast Flooring after shopping around a bit. We worked with Woody who did a great job. He showed up on time for our quote appointment and was a joy to work with. Easy going and comfortable. We decided on an Acacia wood and made the purchase. We also used West Coast for the installation. We were able to schedule it around Mother's Day weekend when we were already planning to be away at the beach in Carlsbad for a week. The install crews were courteous and respectful at all times. They took great care of our property and did an outstanding job. We could not be happier with the price and workmanship.

9 months ago Woody is excellent! He understood what our needs were and that we were under a time constraint to get the project done. He guided us with his advice and knowledge and we are so happy with the results! He's very personable and really knows the industry. The install went quick and smoothly. They were neat, organized, professional and on-time. What more can you ask for? Thanks Woody, for making our lives a little easier :)

10 months ago I had such a great experience from start to finish working with Woody at West Coast Flooring. He was very polite and listened to my ever-changing wants. I originally wanted hardwood flooring, but after giving it more thought I was open to Laminate. After discussing this with him (my 3rd trip to the showroom), he introduced me to the Luxury Vinyl Planks -- which I loved. I ultimately bought the vinyl planks and couldn't be more pleased. I was working with two other shops to compare prices, and ultimately bought from WCF because the level of service was well beyond what I received anywhere else. No pushy sales guys -- just honest, real, knowledgable guys. Thanks Woody!!

10 months ago Excellent experience from our project's inception all the way through to the follow up! Our timeline was the most crucial part of the project. The carpet we initially ordered was going to take a few weeks to come in and Alex (she's a superhero by the way), jumped in and offered us many options to help meet our deadline. After some consideration, we decided to keep the carpet we ordered and Alex kept communications open with us leading up to the install. We had a few obstacles that were outside the realm of the initial project scope and the installers happily accommodated us. The best part about this place is that they are clearly a HUGE successful business, yet despite their size, their customer service makes the experience very personal. We will definitely be using these guys in the future!

10 months ago Woody was super-helpful and patient during my very long (6-month) planning period. We bought Hybrid Fusion Blonde Acacia vinyl flooring that looks so realistic, even the workers who were down on their hands and knees thought it was real wood! Their installers were very professional, and reasonably-priced, and went over and above the call of duty when they made very detailed cuts to fit my custom edging. We also bought some gorgeous carpet, and I was impressed that Woody let us store it in their warehouse for a couple months while I got my contractors all together.

11 months ago We recently purchased hardwood flooring at West Coast Flooring. Woody was so patient with me and helped me choose just the right flooring to fit my needs. I went to other flooring stores but no one gave me the excellent customer service that Woody gave me and the price was awesome! I highly recommend West Coast Flooring and ask for Woody!

11 months ago Awesome customer service experience from the front desk to sales to the warehouse guy. Flooring choices are super overwhelming, but I feel like they understood what I was looking for and make my choice very clear. Ordering was fast and easy. There was a bit of a mix up when I called to order more of the floor, as I'd made the decision to go ahead and re-floor the whole house after my first order. They handled it beautifully and professionally. We had our contractor install the floors and I will be ordering from West Coast when it's time to refinish the attic!

12 months ago Use West Coast Flooring Center! Ask for Woody! My wife and I were carpeting several rooms in our home. We'd shopped the big box home improvement stores, but weren't really satisfied. That's when we gave West Coast Flooring Center a try. We're very glad we did. Woody was extremely knowledgeable. We told him what we wanted, we gave him a ballpark budget, and he showed us numerous samples. He explained the qualities each possessed, strengths, potential weaknesses, and offered advice. Interestingly, the highest price choice, was not necessarily his recommendation. He based his recommendation on our needs and situation. We made our selection, and Woody came out to measure the rooms. He was on time, pleasant, was quick and accurate. As such, there were no issues when the installers arrived. We had selected a date for the installation, but had to postpone at the last minute for unforeseen, unrelated matter, and Woody graciously rescheduled. The installers arrived on time, were polite and pleasant, cleaned up after themselves as they worked, and did a great job. We will definitely use West Coast Flooring Center again next time we need flooring.

12 months ago Very satisfied with our experience with West Coast Flooring. Woody and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful in assisting us with finding the right carpet at the right price as well as installation on the day we wanted, the day before Thanksgiving. Installation staff was timely, very professional, and even brought in a guy at the end of the day to make sure the job was completed that day. Carpet is amazing and we are completely satisfied all the way around. Have already recommended WCF to a friend who is looking to install carpet.

last year We shopped around to probably 8 different flooring locations, and several online. We chose West Coast Flooring after meeting Woody at their showroom in San Marcos. Woody and his team are knowledgeable, the price was the most competitive, the process was smooth, and the install was timely and done flawlessly. They even came back and installed a few quarter-round pieces for us at no charge.

last year Liars, cheats and terrible customer service! I had 2,000sqft of carpet installed. Installer showed up with two different types of carpet, the type I had ordered and some cheap brand that almost looked the same. The installer was instructed to put one type upstairs and the other downstairs, like I wouldn't notice. Looking at the stairs and the rest of the downstairs it was very apparent. Had him give me two spare scraps for comparison. The supervisor guy came out and actually argued with me that they were the same and it was just a different "dye batch", when in actuality the carpet were completely different thickness and texture. The installer agreed with me and told me to pursue getting the right carpet. Finally after some back and forth they finally sent the installer back with the right carpet to install. Fast forward to last year: Carpet is showing pink spots and fading in some areas, it's definitely not the carpet cleaner I use, I don't have any pets or kids and any spills are cleaned up immediately. Carpet is under their 10 year warranty. Get an email back, "it's the cleaner you use". Again I explain that it is not, these are areas that haven't been cleaned with a cleaner. He tells me that he has to talk to the manufacturer... That was last year, I haven't heard from him nor can I get a response to my emails. Crooks, plain and simple. I will never use again and I never recommend them to my friends. Beware.

last year The worst customer service experience! We were moving and had one week to replace carpet in two bedrooms in the new house. Woody got the order in and the carpet was to be installed at 8 am on Friday. Friday noon Alex called and did not have an installer available. The only option was the following Monday. Strike one - but okay stuff happens. The installer showed up on Monday and said there was not enough carpet because he would not seam where there was an existing seam on the wool carpet already in place. He insisted he needed another 4 inches which meant I needed another 4 feet of carpet! Strike two! Woody never asked for anything other than room dimensions or offered to send someone to measure. Alex aggressively put all blame on me - Talking over me with the corporate policy speak and just shutting me down. I would describe her approach as adversarial and hostile. We resolve to install one room and two closets with a reorder at my expense for the complete second bedroom. I was going to have at least a 12 x 13 overage. I was very unhappy but stuck. Strike three! Then...the carpet is unrolled and it is unusable! Completely ruined! All of the carpet had to be reordered with no way to know when it would arrive or in what condition. STRIKE OUT! I decided at that point that I had enough of West Coast Flooring. There was no way I was getting the carpet installed before the furniture arrived anyway, so I would start fresh with a company that wanted my business. I used the situation to cancelled my entire order that day without penalty. It was Monday September 21. I have had to call three times to chase my refund - a simple reversal on my credit card. Today is October 5. It has been two weeks and I still do not have it. Alex remains as unapologetic as ever and only border line polite - more company speak about process and approvals! Ridiculous! This is a small company not an international conglomerate evidenced by the fact there is no one to talk to about my refund other than Alex! Don't use this company. If anything goes wrong they will treat you very poorly. I hope I finally get my full refund and do not have to call again. This has been a wholly unpleasant experience.

last year The worst customer service experience! The carpet was not large enough for the room. They measured wrong. In the end they could have retained a customer by being nice and working through the problem. Instead they were rude, talked over you, and tried to place blame on us. I should have know when the carpet installation was canceled due to their system error, the same system that they were claiming has all correct information! Go elsewhere, you will be happier!!!

last year We were on a time schedule trying to get flooring into our new home during the week prior to moving in and we had a lot of rooms to cover. Carpet was trashed and we wanted to change things up by putting in vinyl plank flooring that looks a lot like wood (called COREtec) and some carpet. After getting a few bids from some other places in the area, we met with Woody at West Coast Flooring in San Marcos. Not only did he help us find the right flooring that would be able to be installed quickly but gave us a smoking deal on the whole house. And trust me, there was a lot of floor to cover! John, the vinyl floor installer, did an amazing job and came back a few times to fix a pesky step lip. Super great guy and really put a lot of pride into the fit and finish. Several friends have commented on how great it looks since. Ivan, the carpet installer, did a really nice job on the capping the stairs the right way with carpet and finishing some rounded corners. He came back to finish tack strip that I couldn't get the carpet back onto. Needless to say, West Coast Flooring is the best. We ordered our stuff 2 weeks before install and had everything complete by the time we moved in. Their follow-up customer service (we worked with Cherie) is great and are ready to help you should you run into any issues with the flooring.

last year We have purchased flooring, from tile, to carpet, to hardwood from Westcoast over the past 20 years and they consistently provide us with great service, an excellent selection, and awesome prices. This time was no different. From Woody, the sales person, to the receptionist, and to the installer, Juan, all were professional and pleasant to work with. They make you feel like you are their most important customer and they always have time to answer yours questions.

last year I have a mixed review. I will say the people in the showroom are very friendly and extremely helpful. We needed carpet asap as we just found out our move in date and the movers could only come on a certain day. They have a great selection and really make it happen for you. I thought this place was priced right compared to others in the area. They are very flexible in scheduling and really worked with us. They also did a good job of making sure they didn't dirty up the place when installing. The loss of the stars were because of the actual installation. There were tack strips poking through everywhere. My husband and I had to get down and hammer as many as we could so we didn't hurt ourselves. We let it go and didn't say much to them. But then my 6 y/o nephew came into town and cut the bottom of his foot on a different area of the room. I had to, again, sit and pound down a whole strip of tacks. I decided it was time to call them and let them know about the sloppy job they did. I called on the weekend and found out managers don't work on weekends (must be nice), called on a Monday, talked to a "manager" but was later sent to another manager's voicemail. It took almost a week for him to respond back to me. Even when he called, he stated he didn't look at our file and didn't know what was exactly installed. I explained the situation and that I was simply calling to let them know this- not trying to get money back or anything. At first, the manager blamed the "thin carpet" we chose. I asked how he knew what carpet we chose when he said he wasn't familiar with our file or what we had installed. He then, reluctantly offered, to have someone come by and pound down the tack strips. As I have already done that, twice, I have decided to pass. I simply wanted an apology and statement of them telling me they would talk to the installer so it doesn't happen again- but I got none of that.

last year Three stars is generous. From overestimating square feet (which results in more non-returnable material being purchased than is needed), to failure to show up to instal on time - 2 days in a row - and failure to deliver a key piece of material, West Coast at San Marcos dropped the ball big time. The end result is fine, but the process to get there sucked!

last year We recently purchased a new home and wanted to change out the carpet prior to move in. Woody was the greatest. He was extremely knowledgeable, showed us several different levels of carpet, and was patient while we went through several different choices. We went away to price compare and shop other retailers, but came back because of service and comparable pricing. If you are in the market for new flooring head on over to San Marcos West Coast Flooring, and ask for Woody!

last year Big thanks to Alfonso at West Coast Flooring for saving the day on our project! We had to find some marble panels matching our existing Bianca pattern, not an easy task, and we were pretty much resigned to using materials that didn't match at all, due to vast color differences from lot to lot. (BTW, it was West Coast flooring who sold us the beautiful original white Bianca stone-- magnificent!) Alfonso first located some fresh samples for us to look at, which were still a bit off. So he then contacted the supplier and secured an order which allowed us to peruse the materials one-by-one and take only the ones that matched our project. We were able to select some amazing pieces that were just right for our existing work, without the overhead of buying and praying. Alfonso, you really got us out of a predicament! We placed the last stone yesterday, and the work is truly gorgeous! West Coast Flooring didn't just sell us some marble. They worked with us to get the best stuff out there, and it took more than just a little effort. Thanks again, Alfonso! You guys rock! Eric Miller

last year 5 stars review:We search on google to find a flooring store in San Diego that could sell and install hardwood in our house. After having a few estimates we decided to go with West Coast Flooring. My wife and I can't convey how happy we are with the work Mark and team. The finished product looks fantastic, the price was reasonable, and Mark even customized a piece of wood to help blend the other wood we had in the house. These guys do tremendous work but are booked out months in advance, so please have patience and trust me when I say the wait is worth it!

last year A bunch of liars. 6/1/15 - 6/2/15 I signed the contract to have new carpet and tile installed in my house on 2/20/15. Due to a backorder of the tile, installation did not begin until 4/6/15. I wasn’t upset about the backorder, I understand it is not in their control and thats fine. It took 6 days for the tile layers to finish laying the whole house. All throughout the 6 days we noticed poor workmanship on the tile. Every time we noticed a new problem, we would bring it up to Mark at West Coast Flooring. The problems consisted of everything from running out of tile to incredibly poor work on our step in the entryway, completely tearing up and replacing all the tiles in our laundry room because one of their unqualified workers did not lay the tile properly (the other tile workers noticed this problem and fixed it on their own) and to grout under our sliding door chipped and fell apart without even touching it. Although not without more going back and forth on the fact that we had yet another problem, all of those problems were eventually fixed. Nothing has been an open and shut case with this company even though there were very obvious mistakes made. The biggest problem, however, has been the chips and scratches on the tile. We were told it was most likely a manufacturer's problem and the tiles came like that. (I'm not sure why you would lay them with such obvious scratches and chips if that were the case, but they did.) After a few weeks of going back and forth they finally sent a rep from the brand of the tile company out to take pictures to determine if it was a manufacturer's problem or install scratched and chipped them. The tile company rep told me it would take a week to determine. Finally 2 weeks later, someone from West Coast Flooring called to set up a time to replace all the tiles. I do not know if it was ever determined who was at fault for all of the chipped and scratched tiles but the tile manufacturer offered to give 25 tiles to WCF to replace them. According to West Coast Flooring someone would be to our house Monday (6/1) between 10:00-11:00 to begin repairs. At 9:00 we receive a call saying they are going to have to reschedule. My husband and I spent the morning moving all the furniture and marking which tiles were defective so the tile could be replaced, needless to say we were not happy. After talking with Mark, someone finally got to our house to start work but they did not have tile to replace the ones that were pulled up and no one from West Coast Flooring dropped any tile off (like Mark told me over the phone that they would do). The tile layer was able to remove 13 of the about 25+ broken tiles on 6/1/15. On 6/2/15 the same 2 tile layers show up. The tile layers still have no tile with them to replace the ones they pulled up. After talking with the 2 tile layers, they told me and my husband that their boss (Todd Richards Tile, who is contracted by West Coast Flooring) informed them they could only replace the tiles they pulled up yesterday, they were not to pull up and replace any more. My husband and I sent the 2 tile workers away. Without tile to fill in where they had removed the tiles from 6/1 and not being allowed to remove any more there was no reason for them to be there inconveniencing us for yet another day. 6/8/15 - Still no work has been completed. Will update soon.

last year An update just to show how little these people care about finishing a job. Today is the 2nd day I waited on tile installers to show up and no one did. I didn't even receive a phone call. 6/2/15 I spoke again with Mark from WCF. According to him, he does not know why the tile layers said they were not allowed to tear up any broken tiles. When asked why the new tiles were not dropped off yesterday like he said, he explained that they did not have the tile. According to Mark they had to drive to another store in Vista to pick up the boxes of tile. When they drove to pick the tile up the store did not have them. If this replacement of tile was scheduled last week, I do not know why they would not have had the tile in their hands knowing they were coming. They ended up getting the tile late on 6/1 because someone from WCF had to drive to a warehouse in Anaheim. Mark himself dropped the tile off at our house on 6/2. While Mark was at our house he assured me (he also assured me over the phone) that he would call me back and let me know when he could have some more guys out to finish out the job. I never received a phone call. 6/3 No phone call from any one at WCF. 6/4 Mark calls to let me know someone would be here to begin work again. I was assured that if they did not finish that they would return on Monday to get the job done. 6/8 No one has shown up to finish my tile again. They were supposed to return at 7am Monday. I again had to call and ask if anyone was coming. I called Mark at 9:15 because WCF opens at 9. He returned my call to tell me that the scheduled tile layer called in so no one would be working on the tile today. This is the 2nd time someone scheduled to work on our tile has "called in" and I have not received a phone call or received one apology. What if I would have had to take a day off from work just to not have someone show up? Mark asked if they could come tomorrow (6/9). Yes, of course they can, I want the job finished. I wanted it finished weeks ago and I have been very patient. I don't see how it is my problem that one of their workers called in. It should not inconvenience me. At this point I do not trust anything they say because last time someone "called in" and didn't show up I was told later that actually it was a scheduling miscommunication.

last year John (Woody) Woods has become like a BFF to myself and my husband during a long, long, loooong drawn out process of choosing the perfect flooring for our home remodel. We have been in and out of the San Marcos showroom for months, like half a year i think, and every time we go in we're always met with smiling faces. The staff is always available to us right when we walk in. There is never an eye roll or a weird vibe that we've over stayed our welcome, like some places will do when they know you're not ready to buy right away. Also, they only use the time you allow them, and then quietly go back to working or helping someone else while you digest your endless options, in other words theres no hovering or rushing coming from these folks. I tend to ask a hundred million annoying questions and I sometimes forget the answers to a lot of them (what a fun client I am). Woody will repeat himself gracefully as many times as I require. He allowed us the room to truly decide for ourselves. He provided very valuable and professional advice. He did everything he could to work with our tight budget and he always made us feel right at home. I love the that we're not feeling judged for taking our time with this important decision, and overtime as I returned samples and changed my mind a million more times, I found myself spending a little longer in the showroom just because they've all become buddies. Alex Johnson was another very friendly and awesome helper. He listens very well, provides much needed emotional support for us crazy DIY designers out there, and is a true professional. Allysa and Brook took good care of me on Woody's day off, super friendly. When we finally decided, Woody dropped what he was doing on his day off to get paperwork going, still low pressure, still super sweet and easy going. These guys will do everything you need and more. They take good care of their customers. They give you support, quick responses to calls or emails, factual information, all the samples one could ever need, and good old fashion customer service. Plus they have a better selection than most the other flooring company that I vetted. Hands down, go with them.

last year We have looked at flooring with thee patient help of John (Woody) Woods. I have no idea how many times we have stopped there and taken home samples. But we've really appreciated the expert help given us by Woody. We really like the low pressure style of sales. Even when we stopped when Woody wasn't there, we got great assistance from others. Finally about 3 weeks ago, we made a decision to purchase some engineered hardwood flooring. Now, we are in the process of finishing our selection of some carpets. The advice about the flooring products is exceptional. I would highly recommend you look here and ask for Woody.

last year Price was reasonable and salesman was knowledgable, I didn't have much time to check around so I cannot say for sure if I have the best deal. I only had a small area that needed carpet since we have mostly wood floors. The issues I have with them were 1) one of the installers kept talking nonstop to the other guy and I was on the phone (for work). The doors were closed but he was loud. I don't expect them not to talk but loud nonstop chatter is another thing. 2) After they left, I noticed that the pattern was not even on the steps. The salesperson was responsive but their customer service rep never called back. A week passed, I had to call before I got a return call. The installers came back and told me the steps were uneven and that patterns should not be used on stairs (??). I have seen patterns used on steps but if this is the case then their salesperson should point this out. Anyway they said they had to ask for new carpet and they will have to reinstall the parts where they were slanted (which they also agreed was off). A week went by (I assume they are ordering the carpet) then another week went by and no calls. (during this time, I receive a card in the mail to give them a referral?). Seriously, there is miscommunication within their company and it seems like they don't work as a team. The salesperson just hands it off to the customer service rep who he knows doesn't return calls. I had to call again before I got a callback. Finally got it fixed but I think their customer service person should be transferred to another role as it is obvious he doesn't like his job. I can overlook the first issue but the second issue makes you wonder what if you had a big area that needs to be fixed and you had to keep taking time off from work for them to come and fix it? They're okay but I would rather give my business to someone who shows me that they value my time.

last year I am a first time home owner who had no idea what I needed let alone wanted to have installed. From the moment I walked into the showroom I was offered assistance to find what is now a great looking floor for my house. I worked with Alex Johnson and was given the priority I needed to feel comfortable and ready to move forward with installing the flooring. Whenever I had a question I was able to call or email Alex and within a short time would receive and message or a call back to walk me through the next steps. The work was done really well and only took a few hours to install. I am very happy with the quality and professionalism that was provided. I would definitely recommend working with them for your floor needs.

last year We, originally, were looking to make a change from carpet to hardwood in a couple areas of the house and re-carpet the rest. We shopped at Coles and America's Finest before stopping in at West Coast Flooring. After the first two stores, I had the bad feeling that I was paying way too much for product and labor, kind of like the feeling you get buying a car and wondering how bad they are gouging you. Tyler at WCFC in Solana Beach was a breath of fresh air. He talked straight and delivered on his promise of best price and highest quality. The other shops make it impossible to compare products by changing product names and double talk. Tyler was upfront about the whole deal and patient with us as we changed from hardwood to laminate to just re-carpeting the entire house. (saving $1700 and getting better carpet) The install guys went the extra mile and did a perfect job and were very easy to coordinate.

last year After a bit of shopping, we decided on West coast. Nobody else could give us everything we wanted. Alex(our sales rep) really understood what we wanted as was very patient with us in picking out the tile we wanted. Our upstairs bath and walk in closet had 14 year old carpet and it was time to get it out of there and replace it with tile. Alex helped my wife pick out exactly the tile that would go with our décor. He took his time and provided several very helpful selections. I was really very surprised with the accuracy of he estimate. When all was done we only had 4 or 5 tiles left over. No extra money wasted on tile we didn't use. Their installer, Todd Richards and his crew, are real pros at this. His crew came on time every day. I watched them very carefully as I have some experience with tile work(I did the bath in my last house myself) and these men really know what they are doing. Their skill and craftsmanship were apparent from the minute they stepped in the door. They laid down protection on all the floors and stairs to start with. They then removed all the carpet, padding and adhesives to level the floor. They put down a cement board with a lot of nails. That backer is not moving, until they tear this house down. Watching them layout the tile was amazing. These guys have a lot of experience and skill. Our bath and closet has a lot of corners and turns. They had to do a lay out through three doorways, around two vanities, a soaker tub, a shower and the toilet not to mention all the vertical pieces in the closet. When they were done, every line was perfect and the base board they put back in was beautifully done. I was very impressed. Congratulations to Shane, Alex and Todd for earning my top rating. They deserve it. Next time I need flooring, they will be top of my list. If you need flooring and don't at least talk to West Coast you are really missing a chance to work with the best!

last year My wife and I are doing a complete remodel of our home. We went to many flooring places with mixed results. When we entered West Coast Flooring we were amazed at the selection and the warm greeting from Woody. He spent over an hour showing us various flooring options. An most importantly, showed us a floor we both liked at a much lower price. After choosing our floors, we asked if we could get a sample. He had then FedEx'd to us the next day. Great experience.

last year We are very pleased with our vinyl tile floor from West Coast Flooring. The attention we got with Woody in the showroom going over our options for choosing what would work best for us was very helpful in making our selection. Woody came over to the house and made a solid quote on the actual measurements of tile needed. This made us feel that we were making the right decision. Installers were on time, worked efficiently and completed the job in much less time than originally thought. When done they left no evidence that they had been there (NO MESS).

last year From the minute we walked in the door, Christine greeted us right away and did a great job of helping us pick out the tile and carpet for our home. She had excellent knowledge of color choices to help us match our existing tile in our home and found nice wood-like tile and carpet to blend in nicely. As for the installers, thanks Chris! He did a wonderful job along with the other guys on the job to install our carpet and tile in a timely manner with everything looking so beautiful. Thanks to Ferris too for being so responsive to keeping us informed of the status of all the work. We highly recommend Westcoast Flooring!

last year I would definitely recommend using West Coast flooring. After visiting several competitor stores it was clear to me that Woody at West Coast Flooring was the most experienced and knowledgeable salesman. Woody is easy to talk to, so I didn't have any hesitation asking him all of my questions (and there were a lot). He walked me through a variety of different products to help me find the best option for my house. I decided on hardwood floors and Woody was able to help me color match a sample and find a great product within my budget. Woody was incredibly responsive to any questions I had throughout the process and was able to help work with me on the timing of paying my materials deposit until after escrow had closed on my house and I could readily use my bank accounts again. Woody also helped me obtain extra baseboards when I decided to add the closets into the project and we ran short. I can't express enough what a wonderful experience this all was. Roberto and his team performed the install and did a fantastic job. I am very happy with the finished product and will be using West Coast flooring in the future when I am ready for my bathroom remodel.

last year My wife and I were looking for flooring to replace the nasty carpet in our bedroom. After being taken for a ride on some flooring by another company we started cautiously shopping around and ended up at West Coast. We were immediately greeted when we walked in by Woody and we bombarded him with questions, he happily answered every question that we had we never felt pressured to make a purchase or felt like a product was being pushed on us. After all of our questions were measured we set up an appointment for measurements, were were still undecided on what type of flooring we were going to pick, so we went back in and spent over an hour going over everything. Again Woody was there to answer every question we had, we finally decided on laminate and set up a time for install. The install team was on time, very polite and did an excellent job on our floors. Once the install was done, they were on their hands and knees wiping up the dust in our room with rag. They then cleaned up and swept our driveway. It was so nice dealing with a team like this, our room looks amazing! I can't say enough good things about them and will definitely be a return customer.

2 years ago This is our second purchase from Woody. Like the other reviewers say, he was very patient with us as we were in the store many times and took lots of samples to make sure we got what we wanted. Having carpet installed in a condo with very specific guidelines was challenging. With the help of Woody and Derek, our carpet choice was approved with no problem. The install was scheduled promptly and as we only had two rooms to carpet, the guys were in and out (including moving furniture) before I had my morning coffee! I highly recommend West Coast Flooring for your flooring purchase!

2 years ago Our home is so much more beautiful thanks to West Coast! Woody is wonderful and friendly to work with, he made the new flooring process simple and enjoyable. We are thrilled with our Astronaut Farmer "wood" flooring. After visiting several show rooms, West Coast Flooring's selection and team were far superior. No pressure sales, just an enjoyable atmosphere with knowledgable people and products to meet all our flooring and tile needs. The range of products and price points made it easy to find exactly what worked for our home. Plus, the installation guys were efficient, kind, and finished the floors to look beautiful. We had questions during the installation that they took the time to hear and adjusted their approach to make our floors look better than we had expected. Will be going back here for tiling in the next round. Thanks so much Woody!

2 years ago We have been buying our home improvement products through the years from West Coast flooring because they have the best prices for the quality we desired. We have never used their installers because we live an hour away. We hire local guys in our town that need the work.(support local!) It is puzzling to read the bad reviews, but maybe it is hit and miss on the installers. I tell everyone here that WCF has by far the best prices. We pick up our product when it arrives, and couldn't be happier. A note to customers who stroll in without an appointment; get aggressive and find a salesman and make them talk to you,(unless of course they are busy with other orders or customers) The product and financing that you can get will be well worth the trouble. I recommend making an appointment.

2 years ago Fiancé and I walked around this place for about fifteen minutes before deciding to leave. Not once the did the associates acknowledge us. Not even a hello when we walked in. They do have a variety of selection so I will give them that but what good is that if no one there wants to look up from their computer screen?!? We are doing a full house renovation and it looks like we will take our business somewhere else.

2 years ago My wife and I bought a home which required new carpet. After much research and reviewing of reviews, we opted for West Coast Flooring to get the job done for us. Initial impression was good. Woody was a friendly sales person and welcomed us in. After review of our options we made our selection (over the course of a week or so, including shopping around). No pressure to work with them at all and encouraged us to shop around. Once we were ready to execute the transaction, he set up the contract and the process began. Unfortunately, this is where the experience starts to turn sour. During contract prep and review, a few things were explained by both sides: (1) We were on a schedule. The house was empty and we therefore preferred to have the carpet installed before we moved in. We were several weeks ahead of this date, and hoped they could easily work with us. Additionally, we had time off from work scheduled to accomplish the carpet install and various other projects at the house before move-in weekend. (2) Woody explained that our carpet selection was backordered, however because of the popularity of the carpet, the company already had an existing order in with the mill, and meeting our installation date WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. (3) We wanted to ensure Woody and company would stick to this statement so we went as far as asking him to amend the contract to eliminate the "it's possible we might not hit your date" clause, and replace it with our firm date. He was so confident in them hitting the date, he agreed and signed off on the contract amendment. A week after executing the contract and making payments, we got a call from Woody saying that our carpet would not be coming in from the mill until after our committed date. Frustrated by this information following his adamant claims that they would absolutely hit our date, we drove over to the shop to talk in person. That conversation ended up turning into an argument in the middle of the store, during which Woody gave us every excuse in the book as to why they weren't hitting their commit, including at one point the suggestion that we were in the wrong. At no point did he ever take responsibility for the miss, and despite our asking, he was not offering up any form of compensation, except to change colors, change patterns, or a refund as options. It ultimately took the store Manager to come over and break the argument, at which point she sent Woody away and offered to help resolve the situation. Ultimately, our order remained delayed (although the manager did make attempts to expedite from the mill), and we were forced to move into our home with the knowledge that we would have to keep many pieces out of the carpeted area (our entire upstairs living area) and re-move items for the future carpet install. The store manager did offer us complimentary moving services by the installers, which was a nice gesture, however having to wait for over a week with a partially moved-in living situation was not appreciated. Because of the delay, we also had to reschedule for a weekend date, as we could not take more time away from work. The team did work with us and promised that we would get "the best crew out there" and would be in and out within 6 hours. To our surprise and amazement, when the Saturday rolled around, the crew showed up with only 2 people, and the overall installation took 15 HOURS! At one point we had to leave the crew alone at our new home because they had so severely encroached into our personal time after missing their 6 hour window. Completely unacceptable! When we called about the situation, my wife was told by Woody that it's all because we forced a Saturday job. Again, not taking responsibility for another blown commitment, to say nothing that WE were forced into a Saturday job because of their missed commitments. When all was said and done, the installation looked fantastic, however the customer service, achievement of commitments, and execution was truly poor. The store manager attempted to recoup the experience with a $100 gift card (again, another nice gesture), however the damage had been done.
2 years ago Business Owner We are truly sorry about what happened yet often we have no control over deliveries from vendors so the dates we give out are only estimates as this material is often delivered from Georgia. We hope you were able to enjoy a relaxing dinner on West Coast Flooring with your gift card.

2 years ago Woody was gracious and informative from the beginning of our search for new flooring. Over several months and visits to the store he answered all of our questions, responded to calls and emails promptly, reassuring us through the whole process. The material arrived on time, the installers were prompt, and answered my daily questions. They helped keep my home livable during the week of installation with temperatures in the 90's, and pets and teenagers in and out. Everyone we dealt with were absolutely wonderful. The quality of the workmanship and product combined to give us fabulous hardwood floors. Thank you!

2 years ago I wanted to write about my second experience with West Coast Flooring. 4 years ago they installed beautiful floors in my house and so when I bought a new house this year they were my first choice. Woody (John) was terrific throughout the process. It took me over a month to pick a floor but Woody was very patient and supportive.I must have walked into the showroom 6 times but every time he was pleased to see me and my family and prioritized us. He was also very professioinal in coming out to my home to measure the floor. He arrived early and was very buttoned up. The installation process was also very smooth. There was a small delay in receiving a phone call back with the installer but they quickly addressed my concerns. I also had a small hickup with expectations on the baseboard but Woody once again handled it very professionally and took care of the situation. It's not even worth mentioning because it was handled so well. The whole experience was very positive and to add icing on the cake Woody send me a thank you card at the end of the process. Wow! I've had a lot of work done on my house and this is the first thank you card that I've ever received. He really worked hard to support me. I had a very favorable experience and Woody took care of me every step of the way to make sure that I received excellent customer service. And, the bonus is that once again I have beautiful floors! My floors are the first thing that people notice. I love them and appreciate Woody's help and expertise in picking the right floors. Thank you so much.

2 years ago We went with West Coast after a recommendation from a friend for our entire house: Hardwood, Carpet and Vinyl. While the sales rep was helpful in working with us in pricing and choices, the installation process was a nightmare. Some hardwood boards were damaged but installed and other damage was done to existing marble during the process. We also had a difficult time in getting the hardwood layed down in the way we wished. The customer service manager was useless and we ended up with a lot of materials left over. I wonder if they do this on purpose to increase the price of their sales? I would definitely say stay away from this company in San Marcos.

2 years ago We needed wood floors and carpet replaced from a plumbing flood. West Coast was very competitive and offered a huge selection of material to choose from. Tyler in sales was knowledgeable and had good follow up... We got the job done within our budget without compromising quality or workmanship. Installers were all very polite and skillful to complete our custom installation. They did their best to protect our furniture and appliances etc from the "fallout" from concrete grinding and sawdust. ...(a very dusty process). I would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone remodeling or rehabbing a home.

2 years ago My wife has always wanted hardwood floors but agreed to put basic flooring in our house when we built it 11 years ago because we had young children. I promised we'd upgrade the tile, carpet and yes, linoleum once the kids got older and that time has arrived. We hired a general contractor who is also a personal friend thinking that he'd take care of us and make replacing all of our floors and baseboards as pleasant of an experience as it could possibly be. Well, the hardwood and travertine is finally installed but the experience has turned out to be a complete nightmare so my wife and I made the decision to take back control and hire a company to professionally install our carpeting. I called West Coast Flooring, spoke with Shane and filled him in on what we've been experiencing. He was great. He took the information I provided and looked into seeing what he could do with his connections at Shaw to make things right for us. He also did what he could to come close to what we were paying our "friend" even though the quote we had on the table was ridiculously low (you get what you pay for!). It was so refreshing working with someone who actually cared about our situation and our house. I also called a few other flooring stores because of our situation but none of them really seemed to care. This was before I spoke with Shane. My wife and I visited the showroom and ended up selecting another Shaw carpet based on Shane's input and we're very happy we did. He placed the order and told us he would do what he could to have it installed by July 4th. We set a date for July 3rd and received a call the day prior, confirming everything was ready to go and the installers would be at our house the following morning. Sure enough, Graydon called the morning of the 3rd to tell us he and Cory were on their way and would be at our house shortly. When they arrived, they had us confirm they had the right carpet and padding before they pulled it off the vehicle. We talked about the install and I mentioned what my wife and I had been dealing with with our general contractor. Graydon told me that Shane had made them well aware and had asked that they take care of us and make everything perfect. They didn't disappoint! They were great guys and they did a great job. I even found out the budget was so tight that they agreed to waive their fee for moving some of our furniture...that's really unheard of today when it comes to customer service. I don't think they realized how much we appreciated that and what it meant to us. I left out a lot of details but the bottom line is Shane, Graydon and Cory all did a fantastic job listening to us, being respectful and providing incredible customer service. I would recommend them in a heartbeat and have actually already recommended them to my sister who luckily avoided the nightmare we've been dealing with prior to working with Shane. Thank you Shane, Graydon and Cory!

NAILS completely sticking up along walking areas. we had a simple carpet installation in our family room. a square inset, tile around. they had to charge a minimum installation fee as it was small. they were in and out in an hour. you would think they had plenty of time to do a good job. instead, the nails were sticking completely out! they did not even attempt to put them down. found this out the hard way. :-( Called them to fix this. 2nd visit they did come to "hammer down" the nails. Did not apologize. Actually Mark seemed upset that I even dare call them out for this. Even told me if I found some more, to go get a hammer myself and fix it. He spent about 15 minutes and said he was done. I have a toddler, teenager, helping out with a newborn, and just did not have time to double check. assumed he had check. NOPE, again, found out the hard way that there were still nails coming out! ughh! multiple, right in the high traffic area. I did get a hammer. unfortunately I ended up cracking our tile! ;-( then I thought, I pay these guys to do this, I shouldn't be the one on my hands and knees trying to fix this. called the store again told them what happened. Manager called and said someone would be out. 3rd visit, again Marc seemed annoyed to be out. showed him where the nails were (put a rug a long sides as I had to go out of town and did not want anyone poking themselves) He worked on it for another 15 mins or so. then said he was done. I asked if he had double checked, he said Yes. This time, I wanted to triple check and AGAIN found nails. I had him FEEL the nails. he "checked again", hammered them down, and then left. Again, no apologies, nothing. Had an independant drywall contractor here at the time and he heard our entire conversations. He was VERY surprised and even made a comment that their service was extremely BAD. He couldn't believe it!

2 years ago I've used WCFC twice in the last two years and have received excellent service both times. My first experience was with Tyler and I felt he was honest, efficient, really knew his products and gave me the best value. When we needed carpet again recently, I went back and again, received top notch service. I will definitely use WCFC for my future projects.

3 years ago Customer experience here has been horrible. Purchased approx 1500sf of hard wood flooring from this company. 1st order came in with the wrong wood. 2nd attempt, only part of the order came in weeks after the promised delivery date. (Always getting the song and dance that it was the manufacturers fault.) We waited and waited for our sales rep to call with the delivery of the remaining pieces of the order which never came. After stopping by the warehouse, numerous times, to check on delivery, our order was found sitting in the back of the warehouse. Went back to the company, wanting to purchase more of the same wood to install in the rest of our house, and I spoke to the front desk who was going to check on it and call me the next morning. No call came. Went back the next week, talked to the same person, after the apologies, same promise was made to call the next morning. No call came. Went back again the next week, this time no apologies. She asked me to bring in a piece of the wood as an example. Went and got the sample piece, brought it in and without even looking at the piece she made me go get, she said "the product you want is discontinued. You can try finding it online." Horrible! Won't come back here... Wouldn't recommend.
2 years ago Business Owner We wish we were able to help you but we have no control over vendors that discontinue products and unfortunately on the weekends we are not able to check on stock as most vendors we purchase from are only open Monday thru Friday. Thank you for the feedback and we will make sure to make our future customers more aware of this.

3 years ago My aunt has been a Realtor in the San Diego County Area for almost 15 years now and she helped my hubby and I buy a home in Clairemont (92117). She has a long list of trusted vendors and West Coast Flooring is one of her most trusted and most recommended vendors. She referred us to "Woody" (John Wood, there are two Johns that work here, but Woody was who helped us and was super awesome!) We had 3 bedrooms that needed carpet, one 10x11 plus a closet 2x8 I think, master approx 12x10ish plus a closet 8x4, and an 8x10 room no closet. We got the Cashmere II (super soft and plush, well worth the $$) with the memory foam padding (AH-MA-Zing!) Note: My measurements are approximate. Woody advised us that the memory foam does not last as long as the regular padding in high traffic areas, which we appreciated, but once we told him it was in the bedrooms he said that it would be fine. He also gave us a good deal on the upgraded padding bundled with the carpet. Woody was great from stat to finish. He set us up with a free measuring service to ensure that we ordered the proper amount of carpet. He also explained that the rolls usually came in 12ft increments and would be cut in specific ways. Depending on the shape of the room there could be left over carpet. The measuring ensured minimal extra that would need to be ordered. We also inquired about a tile removal service and he gave us a quote for it. My husband and I ended up tearing the tile out on our own thinking we could handle it... It WAS significantly cheaper, but it probably would have been worth it to pay professionals to do it! (lol, lesson learned). Woody was available by phone and e-mail throughout the process and was prompt with his response time. We had one little snag when our installation guys did not make it in their 8:30-10:30AM window. I called checking in on the guys at 10:30 and was told that they were at my house right then, which I could 100% confirm they were not. After about 5 minutes on the phone with the nice receptionist trying to figure out where they were, the truck rolled up. Once they got started they were professional and did an excellent job with the installation. I am completely in love with my carpet... it is almost more comfortable than my guest bed! All of the carpet, including delivery and installation came in under $2700. If you want an awesome experience, ask for Woody!

3 years ago Great Value and service. West Coast Flooring installed hardwood floors, new baseboards and carpeting in my home. We are very pleased with the workmanship and dedication to quality installation. Jose Galvan and his crew did a fantastic job on the wood installation. I would highly recommend this company.

3 years ago West coast flooring does not never follow through West Coast Flooring is a scamer they do not follow through with what they said they will and they charged your credit card before the job is complete. West coast charged me for a scraping of a grouted floor and they were to re-grout the whole thing, instead they cleaned the floor and said it was done. I tried to get my money back but I might as well talk to the wall. They can't be trusted and they will screw you stay away...

3 years ago I was very impressed with their service! We bought a house and had 2800sq feet worth of flooring installed in our home, I LOVE my floors, my sales guy Shane was professional, educational and very prompt. Our installers installed our home in 4 days! I was extremely impressed and would go back to them any day to get flooring if we buy another home down the road. I would recommend them to all my family and friends, as well as clients. I am a realtor and I send all my clients to Shane at west coast flooring.

3 years ago We purchased hardwood flooring for our downstairs, which included living, dining, kitchen and a 1/2 bath. Installation only took 2 days with a few hours to finish up on the third day. Very happy with the quality of the flooring and the attention to detail by the installer. Would definitely recommend West Coast Flooring.

3 years ago I just bought a house that needed all new carpet upstairs so my fiance and I started the hunt for good quality carpet at an affordable price (because WOW was I surprised that QUALITY carpet was about double what I had budgeted), so after shopping around a bit we walked into West Coast Flooring. For the most part we already knew what we wanted so when we met with Tyler it was more of, "So what's the best price you can get me on this carpet". He quoted me a price that was in the exact same ballpark as other carpet stores we had visited, a price that was just too high for our budget. When I told him that, ready to resign myself to a lower quality carpet, he told me that if I was okay with a certain color, they had two rolls of said color in stock in their warehouse, and he could sell it to me for more than $1.00 less a square foot! Now...this sounded too good to be true AND I was quite skeptical after reading the many negative reviews on here, so I went back to another carpet store that I had a good experience with and trusted (but that was out of my budget), and asked them about the legitimacy of the price. I was informed that West Coast received a large discount on that carpet for ordering a LARGE amount of the product and that if they were going to give me that price to go for it because "they couldn't touch it". So back to West Coast we go, at which time I informed Tyler that I was going to give him my business BUT that I had read all of the negative reviews and that he had better send me his best installers. ;-) I am particular, spending a lot of money on carpet, and expect quality service. I always find it's best to communicate your expectations. Well, Tyler DELIVERED!! I was told the carpet could be installed that week (due to it being in stock). We scheduled the day and the installers showed up on time. I again was a bit skeptical, as the guys were a bit young, but they did a GREAT job!! They were fast, efficient, and even recommended doing "noses" on my stairs (they didn't have them previously...it takes more work and looks better). They only stopped for a brief 20 minutes to eat their packed lunches, and they were careful with the surrounding walls. The carpet looks flawless....can't see a single seam and the edges/corners are perfect! So....had I let the previous reviews scare me away, I would have missed out on my luxurious, soft, quality carpet at a great price!! I'm a very satisfied customer and will be back for future flooring projects! Strong work Tyler, strong work. ;-)

3 years ago Last week we had our two story home carpeted by West Coast Carpeting. 1. Mark: Patient, Helpful, and Professional as it took us considerable time to select which carpet and pad we wanted. 2. Carpet Installers: Hardworking and Professional. Removed each step on staircase when installing carpet. (Not done by previous installers.) 3. 5 Stars - Start to Finish. Thank you, Pete & Pat

3 years ago Tyler & his crew are xlnt. With the great ideas to use, along with the carpet & hardwood flooring selection on hand, we came up with a great game-plan. One family room was completed with carpet & the rest of the house was done with hardwood floors. 1 day for the carpet -Done & on time, 4 days for the harwood flooring -Again done on time, & under budget. All the installation crew were just perfect, as the concrete grinding dust, to prep the slab, was controlled by plastic sheeting. Two months later & it's still xlnt as the 1st day installed. Thanks again & Regards, Clyde & Deb

3 years ago The only reason I'm giving West Coast a one star is because there's no option to give 0 stars. Long story here, so if you don't have the time, just trust the 1 star. I don't know how to write this horrendous ordeal into a short paragraph. (Let me try: Two failed installations, incorrect measurements, improperly ordered carpet, snarkiness, refusal to call back. Result: Still no carpet.) Many of the previous 1-2 star reviews are very accurate. I should have stuck with my gut and never even tried to do business with WCF. I first called West Coast because a friend referred me to a specific worker there. I called ahead and asked for him. The girl who answered supposedly transferred me to him. We spoke and said I'd be in soon. When we arrived and asked for him, I was told he no longer worked there and they passed me on to the guy I spoke to. 1. I knew right then to walk away. They lied just to get me in, knowing the person I requested no longer worked there. 2. This guy was super snarky. He clearly didn't know about carpet. I asked him about recycled carpet and he couldn't name any. Had done my research and visited another flooring company prior who was knowledgeable and taught us a lot we didn't know. Couldn't believe that this big Flooring Center didn't know about recycled carpet. I kept pushing on and asked about recycled nylon carpet. He replied that no one recycled nylon. SHAW produces recycled nylon carpet and West Coast is a Shaw distributor. How do you not know that? 3. He didn't know his business. Sign three I should have walked out. But the guy gave us a low preliminary quote. The next week we go back (after he's come out and taken measurements) and pick a carpet. We tell him we want no T-seams. Says okay. Takes him quite awhile to figure things out, trying to save us money by playing with how the carpet is laid down. We sit there with him, constantly giving our input and asking questions to lower the price, and he's working with us, albeit he makes a few math errors. 4. Not a good sign in a business that requires precise calculations. In the end, he gives us a pretty good number. We decide to go with it. I mention that I've seen poor Yelp reviews and am concerned. He waves it off - Yelp is a joke. (Yes, that on-line rating system you and I are using right now because we trust it.) He knows we're looking for installation ASAP (we just moved). It was Saturday. As long as the order was placed on Mon (apparently nothing goes through on Sun), the carpet could arrive Thurs and install Fri. So I call Mon to verify our colors, he says me paperwork via e-mail and I e-sign and send it back immediately. He says as long as the order is placed midday we're good. Guess who never calls me back like he said he would?? I had to call back 3 or 4 times before I received a call back - in the early evening. 5. Don't trust a business that won't call you back. Prior reviews were completely accurate. Through the entire ordeal (which went on to last for one month, nobody properly called me back. I was always calling and chasing them down. A true lack of respect for the customer.) He says he'll call me back on Wed to confirm the date of installation. Guess which phone call never came? I had to call and by the time I reached someone else, he told me our guy wouldn't even be back to work until Friday. The guy looks up our order and shares, "Carpet won't arrive until Monday." It's the holidays, so can't install until the Friday after. I'm sorry, what?? Thanks for the update! To this day, still not sure our order ever got placed on time. When they come out to install, we find out that he mis-measured our areas - there's not enough carpet. We're sickened at this point, so we cancel the order entirely (Fri). I call Sun as I see that I was charged $3000 for the carpet! Manager says he never heard about a canceled order (no notes on our account). Wow...days later, he convinces us that it's still the best deal, they'll fix the error at no extra charge. Another guy comes out to re-measure and says he'll order the proper amount of carpet. Trying to confirm, two different workers give me different days - it's clear no one is on the same page, or they all just lie. They come out to install a week later - this time they try installing multiple T-seams (West Coast's decisions, not the installers themselves, who were very nice.) Husband thinks they still didn't order enough carpet and were trying to get around things....either way, they renege on our agreements, will only install a bunch of T-seams. My husband talks with the manager and the other guy. Manager puts it on us, says they've tried fixing the area. Says it's been a burden on them. WOW. Meanwhile, we're still living out of boxes and furniture hasn't been moved into the rooms (one month now!) as we've been waiting for carpet. We didn't mismeasure, buddies. Always very rude. Forget this. We canceled again. Took two weeks to get a full refund.

3 years ago Alfonso at the Outlet in San Marcos is WONDERFUL to work with. He is very friendly, accommodating, honest and punctual. We ordered carpet and were not ready to install it right away and they were able to hold it temporarily for us, which was really nice. We then ordered tile to be installed and it was done over a week's period of time and the quality of the tile and the installation were excellent. We have had trouble with our carpeting as it is patterned and it seems to be getting fuzzy and losing its two-tone which is really disappointing. We have had a horrible time getting someone from customer service (maybe Mark is the name) to come out and inspect the carpet problem. He came out initially and said he was going to have the installation people patch a particular spot but they never showed up and then Mark would not return our phone calls. We contact Alfonso again and he made a call for us. The guy did not show up. We contacted Alfonso again and once again we placed a call to Mark who set up an appointment to which I took time off to attend. He never showed up. :( It's wonderful that the carpet has a warranty but what good is a warranty if you cannot get customer service to help you utilize it? Sales staff is amazing; customer service (Mark) not so much.

3 years ago If I could put a minus mark in front of this star I would. This job was a $5,000.00 job with a customer that has already spent around $11,000.00 with this company between 2 family homes. The job was to recarpet 4 bedrooms and hallway on our second floor. The workers , after arriving almost 2 hours late, did not understand the printed work order or verbal instruction. They tried to remove the carpet, tack strips and padding from our staircase that was NOT part of the work order. I stopped him and pointed out the work order and he said the words" no staircase." I repeated " no staircase" and he began, as best he could to repaire the torn carpet, tack strips and padding. This is a 2 level staircase with a landing in the middle and he made it all the way to the landing be fore he could be stopped. I called WestCoast at that moment to complain and, Mark with customer service, came out 2 days later. He said he was sorry and explained this was the biggest job this 2 man crew had done. He said they would "make it right" and thanked us for being long time customers. I fell 2x on the lose carpet hurting my arm so bad that I needed and ex ray. West Coast offered to replace the carpet( only from their left over stock room) and labor for free but WE would have to pay $340.00 if we wanted new tack strips, padding and the same carpet as they installed on the original work order. REALLY?!? West Coast is fine with charging a long time customer over a mistake THEY made that caused their customer an injury?!? If you respect yourself and home do NOT go here.

3 years ago If I could give negative stars I would. WCF installed laminate floors in my house that are failing miserably. After two years of making numerous appointments for them to try to fix them, they finally said that's just how they're supposed to be and there's nothing they can do. Complete waste of my time and money. They even promised when we first complained about the floors that it wouldn't result with them just telling us to deal with it yet that's exactly what happened. Their shady used car salesman tactics and broken promises completely screwed me out of thousands of dollars and left me with horrible quality flooring that will have to be replaced. They first attempted to blame it on the installer, who they subcontract out, and them tried to blame it on the material. They then had the manufacturer's rep out just so they could say they did all they could. I have had other contractors out that said they never should have put these floors in my home and the product was not a good one. Obviously that's opposite from what the salesperson told us before we signed the contract. Stay away from WCF and go somewhere else. Don't make the same mistake I did and trust what they tell you. You'll only be disappointed and wish your money had gone to a descent and honest contractor.

3 years ago This is my first yelp review, my experience with West Coast has been so bad I had to post this to save someone else from making the same mistake I did and choosing West Coast. Horrible customer service. If they say they will call you back, they never do. If you call and leave a message, they never call you back and usually claim they never received a message. If you talk with someone else at the store they usually can't help you, but promise to make sure your point of contact (in my case Shane or Mark) will call you as soon as they get back. They never do. Multiple times installers were scheduled and no one showed up, with no communication from West Coast. Twice when this happened after talking to the contractor directly, the contractor informed me West Coast did not actually schedule them to do any work that day. On top of the problems during the actual installation, we have been trying to get damage their installers did repaired for 5 months. Getting responses back from West Coast and to have contractors actually show up to do repairs on agreed on dates has been a nightmare. Once they got our money they really couldn't care less. If I could I would give them a zero. Save yourself the headache and waste of time and go with someone else.

3 years ago Bought floor and tile plus installation from West Coast Flooring. Very happy with the buying experience. Installation experience was completely different. We were told it would take one week. The first day 2 workers showed up. Day 2 & 3 1 worker showed up. From that point on us or the main worker never knew who would show up. After week 2 the job was completed. It appeared very nice. After putting down the base board it showed the floor was completely unlevel. Gaps under the base boards as much as 3/16 of an inch. Dining room table and table in living room have a nice rock to them. After contacting West Coast we were ask to submit pictures to the service mgr. We did this and received no response. Completely unacceptable. Poor customer communications. With the invention of the lazer lever this job is completely unexceptable. Stay away from this company. Gary Alderson

3 years ago This is our second purchase from West Coast Flooring Center. We are repeat customers, with plans to have future flooring in our home replaced by WCFC. The company has always had the best prices, service, and products. The sales people are quite knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. The recent experience proved that you do not have to buy from a national chain to receive the best of everything. WCFC is a "Mom 'n Pop" organization, which we prefer doing business with. We highly recommend this company for your flooring needs!

4 years ago Absolutely not! It I could have given it a more negative rating I would have! They actually accepted payment with out fully knowing that they had the product. They assured me that they could get it. I live on the east coast, buying product for my property in San Diego so time was of the essence. It took them 5 days after placing the order to call me to break the news. The worst part of the situation was that the salesperson was not accountable. He is supposed to be the professional. Blamed everything on everyone else to include the sales rep and the front counter help. Totally disgusted

4 years ago I recently purchased tile and wood flooring from this vendor. After the work was completed I called to inquire if I could return 1 box of unused wood and 2 boxes of tile that were left over. To my surprise, I was informed that since they had not done the measuring they would not take any returns. I informed them at Lowe's and Home Depot accepted returns of unused materials. The guy I spoke to said i could "talk" to the manager, however I was not inclined to go convince some dude that he should do the right thing and a normal business practice. I should have sensed that I might have issues with West Coast Flooring as when I ordered the wood they informed me that they would call me so that I could go pick it up. They didn't. On the day they told me I could pick up I had to call them as they hadn't notified me and i had the wood installers ready to put it in the next day. Had I not called, since they apparently had forgotten, I would not have had the wood ready to be installed the next day. When the guy told me about not accepting the unused materials i informed him of my displeasure and told him I doubt that I would do business with them again. With the poor economy and so many other materials outlets I can't see how some business survive. I did give them 2 stars as the guy that loaded materials onto my truck was very cool and professional.

The gal at reception was prompt and friendly. I met with Spencer who was knowledgeable and I was grateful that he did not try to sell me anything beyond what I was truly looking to buy. The order was placed and the carpet came in quickly. I received a call to schedule the install that met with our move in schedule. The installer showed up right on time and did great job installing in a timely manner. Cleaned up everything as well. Overall an excellent experience and would use them again and recommend to friends.

4 years ago Based on a recommendation from a friend I recently used West Coast Flooring Center to replace the carpet in my home. I had already received a quote from another company but decided that a second quote wouldn't hurt. After texting pictures of what I was looking for, Sadra brought samples to my house that were very similar. The price he gave me was $500 less than my prior quote, and the quality was a full grade higher! The installers were awesome, very professional, and careful when they moved my very heavy furniture. They even nailed down a few of the plywood boards that had started squeaking after they had removed the old carpet. I'd recommend asking for Graydon to do your installation. My carpet is beautiful and I couldn't be happier!

High quality, great way to afford to carpet any room in your house! Lots of selection, a perfect little secret spot everyone should know! I sound like an add but I'm serious worth the drive. My parents owned a business like this in las Vegas many years ago and they too were a success. Keeping their over head low must be the way West Coast does it. No matter how it's good for us consumers!

4 years ago I just used West Coast Flooring (San Marcos) to have maple hardwood installed in July 2012. The quality of the wood and installation were great. They were very helpful when I was deciding which type of wood to get and throughout the whole process. I used them in the past for a carpeting install and had no problems, so I decided to go through them again. I even did research at other companies (Lowes, Lumber Liquidators, Coles) and found that the others were either more expensive or about the same price but those companies had more hassles.(Some outsource everything so you have to be in contact with multiple people or you have to get your own contractor). I would definitely use West Coast again and trust their work. Tyler was my sales guy and I would definitely tell my friends and family to give him a call for their next flooring job.

4 years ago Did not have a good experience with West Coast Flooring. They have a large selection of product and the salesman seemed to know his stuff. We had a tight schedule to fit so we could move into our new home and the salesman we dealt with at West Coast promised that carpet could be delivered and installed in 5 days. Other stores we shopped around didn't have the selection and needed a longer time window to get carpet delivered. We got a call the afternoon before carpet was scheduled to be installed and were told the carpet had just left Georgia, we're in CA, so there was no way it would arrive in time for install the next day. The manufacturer was blamed for the delay. I was promised a call back to confirm the progress in shipping. This call did not happen, I had to call them. Carpet arrived 3 days later and was scheduled to be installed. The installer showed up with the wrong carpet. I almost had a heart attack... Again the manufacturer was blamed. They sent a second truck out with the correct carpet and installation went relatively smoothly. The only positive part of this experience was with the installer. He was efficient, professional and his workmanship appears to be of high quality. They did knock off $150 after I complained enough about my dissatisfaction with their communication and false promises.

4 years ago We had carpet installed in the entire upstairs of our home. Everything turned out beautiful and they were even able to recommend us a tile floor cleaning service since that was not a service they provided. We are very happy with our service and design advice we got at West Coast Flooring center.

4 years ago West Coast Flooring simply rocks. At this point my entire bottom floor has been upgraded by WCF. Rich Hardwood, Glacier Padding and the best carpeting and Travertine Tile. Tyler and everyone at WCF are just the best people to work with...and they were always very forthcoming regarding pricing and being competitive. Already starting quotes on the upper floor spaces :^)

4 years ago Went in looking for a carpet remnant and found just what we were looking for. There was a huge selection. We first went in on a Saturday and it was busy. We had to wait a while to finally talk with someone but that was ok. The sales staff is very friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that we weren't called when our carpet was ready for pick up. We had it bound so it took a few more days. I had to call them to discover that it had already been delivered. Other than that, they were great to work with. Haven't yet put the carpet in our house as we are waiting on a rug pad but it looks nice rolled up in the garage!

5 years ago SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I chose West Coast Flooring because it was rated at one of the top in the annual Union Tribune Best of San Diego poll. After our experience, I think that maybe this company just paid a lot of money to get on there. I should have believed the reviews on Yelp (I just noticed there's a "filtered reviews" section at the bottom of the page- read it!), but gave West Coast Flooring the benefit of the doubt because the reviews were over a year old, but they are still very true and correct up to this day. The only reason that I am not giving them 1 star is because they had the best price for our tile flooring project out of 5 bids we received. The tile they installed came out fine (maybe because the installers are contracted out to laborers who don't work directly for West Coast Flooring), but their customer service is one of the worst I have experienced: -As many others have stated, they almost never return your calls or e-mails even when they say that they will. -Very simple work that they promised from the first quote and confirmed throughout the project was never done, despite a number of calls and reminders to them (Their responses: "It's easy, you can just do it yourself."- This is not the point. The principle of the matter is that they promised work that would be done and now don't want to come back out to finish it because they basically stated that it would be a waste of their time; "I'll find out about that and call you back" - of course, no return call). One of the employees at the center was simply rude over the phone. -They show up late or sometimes don't even show up at all. I can go on with griping about the horrible customer service, but I would just be wasting my time and I don't want to waste any more time on this company.

5 years ago I have never purchased flooring here but had the pleasure of working with West Coast Flooring as an independent contractor for a period of about six months. Everyone at West Coast Flooring has been super awesome, and Kelley, the manager, has been gracious and kind the entire time we have worked together. They care a whole lot about what they do and are committed to delivering the best possible performance and experience.

5 years ago I had a great experience with West Coast Flooring Center from the customer service at the store to the installers who put in my carpet, tile, and granite! The selection is great. It is easy to find quality materials in whatever budget you are working with.

5 years ago An unprofessional experience. Their measurement was incorrect so the quote was incorrect. They said they had the carpet I wanted in stock, then they did not have it. They said they had an alternate in stock, then they did not have it. They had to come back with a higher price then the original quote due to miscalculations. They charged my credit card immediately for the product, which I did not mind, however, when they then said that they could not do the project, they did not immediately credit the refund.

6 years ago Single worst business I've ever dealt with. I had 900 sq ft of laminate flooring installed. After 3 months, the floor began to buckle. It took 7 months to get the floor fixed. I have 5 pages of detailed notes over these 7 months with dates/times/names. When they couldn't figure out what was wrong, they had the manufacturer come out and take a look. His comments were "1. you didn't put down enough moisture mixture on the concrete, 2.you didn't leave a big enough gap around the edges for the floor to expand and contract and 3.you didn't lay down the plastic sheathing under the floor which completely negates the manufactures warranty for the flooring throughout the entire house." To summarize: -They dont return calls. You have to hunt them down. -They dont show up on time -Sometimes, they dont show up at all -Poor installation -Don't follow manufacture installation requirements -They didn't warranty all the work/labor

6 years ago My team and I do a lot of business with West Coast Flooring, and for good reason! This company has never left us or our clients disappointed. We have worked with other flooring companies/suppliers but none of them have been as reliable, trustworthy, efficient and professional as West Coast. Shane, who is my point person, has always gone above and beyond to ensure that we get exactly what we ask for, and nothing less!! When I refer a company out, I have to be sure that they are going to represent me well and West Coast Flooring does just that! Michael Jacobo VP Houston Team, Inc.

6 years ago Save your money & time...this place is unprofessional & has horrible business ethics & no morals! Tyler will give you false verbal confirmations to make a sale. He has no communication with installers, so when they come, they are disorganized and lost & charge you all the fees Tyler verbal agreed they wouldn't. Good luck calling customer service. They give you the run around and flat out lie. They installed a defective carpet after promising delivery in 2 wks. They didn't even bother to check the carpet, which usually goes through Q&A in professional places & installed it! When I wanted a refund, they had the nerve to charge me a removal fee! Stupid. This went on for months after arguing i would not accept their carpet which frayed dust into my air harming my kids. They had no concern or compassion. Tyler & Mark was their names. I had my doubts that it was even authentic carpet after they promised they would send me proof of authenticity and never did! They were quick to take my $ & charge me for their mistakes, still I have NO CARPET & its has been months. They will also promise u removal of pre-existing flooring and deny it, make appts. and cancel wo notification & make u wait. This co does not care about the customers at all...i just hope I get my carpet soon bc it will be a fight to get my $ back. STAY AWAY, THEY ARE LIARS & SCAM ARTISTS!

6 years ago Our experience with West Coast Flooring Center was positive from start to finish. We were treated professionally by all members of the staff who had an opportunity to interact with us in the showroom, on the phone, and during the installation process. We explained what we were looking for when we walked into the store, and although it was the third store we had visited with the same information, it was the first place where we were guided in such a manner as to help us really find what met our criteria. We provided each store with the same explanation, but theirs gave us completely different results. Listening to us and guiding us made all the difference, they answered all our questions, and it didn't even take much time. Our carpet purchase went from ho-hum drudgery to a decision we were happy to make. Our carpet has been installed for a few months now, and everyone who comes inside notices and comments favorably on it. All appreciate how well it suits our tastes and the house, and we still look around, smile and comment to each other on how much we like it. The sales, installation, support and follow-up have been outstanding. We would happily recommend them to others.

6 years ago I'm shocked that this company is still in business with the way that they treat their customers. I paid for them to do my entire house and spent a significant amount of money with them - my phone calls have been repeatedly ignored and i've been hung up on from their sales associate. they are RUDE and IGNORANT and do not deserve anyone's business. I wish i had read their reviews on Yelp before i even set foot in the door. don't waste your time.

7 years ago I totally agree with david. they never call back. their customer service is the worst i have ever dealt with. not only have they been rude to my face but they have even hung up on me when they made a mistake and were not willing to fix it. I'm shocked at how i've been treated as a customer that has spent a significant amount of money with them. spend your money somewhere else!

7 years ago As a do-it-yourselfer, I highly recommend West Coast Flooring. I let them know what type of flooring I was looking for, what color and how much I wanted to spend. They recommended two options for me, both of which were in my price range and both of which were durable enough to survive kids and pets. They also gave me additional advice as to which one was easier to install. As somebody who was installing flooring for the first time, the advice was greatly appreciated and helped sway my decision. We did have an issue with not receiving enough material as the manufacturer changing the packaging size without warning. One call to Shane at West Coast Flooring on Monday and the freight company was calling me on Wednesday morning to let me know they had my product and wanted to schedule a delivery time. I will gladly recommend West Coast Flooring to friends & family due to their product selection, knowledge and customer service.

7 years ago The sales help is exceptional. The installation, customer service and professional integrity is catastrophic. After assuring me that they would install flooring on time (3 weeks advance notice-product in stock), they did not. They contract independent installers with suspect English speaking abilities, and NO decision making authority. The communication between sales and installation is non existent. Phone calls from client (post sale) are rarely returned. Shane in sales is useless post-sale. Mark in Service makes things happen...but only after repeated requests and BBB complaints (check their BBB complaint file). Expect holes/gaps under the stairs after the job is complete ("this costs extra...the salesman should have told you that"), and additional charges for items that were conveniently left out of the original quote (regardless of how many times you ask if this is the total inclusive cost). Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from these guys.
