Timeless Epic Plus Handscraped Floors
By: Heather Patterson - At the Picket Fence
Hand scraped floors is a term currently heard often in the home design industry, but far from being trendy hand scraped floors can add a classic and time-worn look to older homes as well as brand new builds. Recently I had the privilege of adding Shaw Epic Plus hand scraped floors to not one, but TWO homes within the past year!
As new empty nesters, my husband and I purchased an almost brand-new home that was the perfect size for our new lifestyle. For this home, we chose Grant Grove Hickory, a durable mixed-width hand scraped flooring that had both a rustic yet sophisticated look to our craftsman style home. Hand scraped floors not only stand up to the test of time of every day wear from pets and kids but also stand up to the test of time with their classic appearance.
Recently, we made another move from our empty nester home to one that could accommodate multi-generational living. This home’s floors were showing wear and tear after several years. We once again turned to hand scraped floors. Shaw Floor’s new Epic Plus Extreme line was just what we were looking for to open up the spaces in this new home to create a cohesive and timeless look to this traditional home. The Canyonlands Monument Extreme Nature, with its 9-inch-wide and up to 86-inch-long planks, blended durability with a refreshing new take on a classic look. They are not only beautiful to look at but with our current house located in the middle of the woods they hide the inevitable dirt so well and clean up like a dream!
Whether you have a craftsman, traditional or rustic home, hand scraped flooring will fit the bill for both function and beauty!
